Part 3 had a good middle ground between cost effective animation and staying true to the art style.
Part 4 clearly has some budget issues if they're going for an even simpler version/kyoani version of Part 2 when they already stated they wanna keep the Part 3 style for all parts.

I only play Heavy D. Saisyu and Takuma did get some pretty important buffs in UM and UMFE though. Overall I really like my team but I'm also kinda disappointed with it since I picked that team when I kinda started out playing fighters seriously and didn't like picking top tier. I don't want to give off the impression that I don't think Blazblue lacks in viable mutiple options in all characters, it's true with the characters you've mentioned which is why I didn't say the entire cast. However here's want I mean exactly. I'll use Leo as an the example instead of a specific blazblue character since the stuff I say I have a problem with applies to him and it's easier to get an idea what I mean with a character that's different from the entire cast. But before that you mentioned Axl not having that viable options like playing rushdown instead. Axl is a zoner and that's what he's best at, I'm not saying these archetypes don't matter at all with every fighter except Blazblue. Characters fit a certain style and are made generally made with that playstyle in mind. However Axl's gameplay does not involve solely around getting into sparrow stance, that's an option, but you're not funneled into it. Which leads me to Leo, you'll see all Leo players play in one way and one way only. Why, because they built him on the sense with only how to make his "gimmick" viable. Not giving enough focus on other aspects of the character to make other options viable. Reason you see Leo players do the same stuff over and over is because that's all they can do. That's what I'm saying about a good number of blazblue's cast and why I said drive gimmicks hurt the character more if not done properly. They work well when done right, but if not it severely hurts the character.

also idk if its been said yet, but putting all a character's gimmicks onto a drive button doesn't really ruin anything unless the character loses another potential normal for gattlings.

what separates gg characters from bb is that bb characters lack the combo freedom and huge damage guilty gear characters have. you can basically play a character how you like (or just wrong) in gg and still get somewhere thanks to the overall damage. bb characters are too strict and you're not going to do damage without full/long combos. bb is more anime than gg at this point.

Pokes and neutral game reigns supreme in SFxT. A tekken characters gimmicky high low tekken strings or plus on block special moves don't mean shit if you don't have the fundaroons to get in. With no focus nnd normals leading into anything, sim is extremely oppressive in this game on point. One of my buddies is borderline retarded. I love the guy to death, I really do, but playing street fighter with him was a nightmare.

He does random things, he has a VERY basic understanding of footsies and the best part about his game is his execution, but every now and then he gets in the zone and just out thinks me. A few months ago I threw me four times in a row, and frankly that was the point I realized that he understand the psychological aspect of the game.

Fighting games will enhance your reaction time, but until then, strong reads and good head games will get you through. There are tons of videos about WHY people do the things they do.
