Some uniques are really gud, but if you get lucky you can find legendary weapons that BTFO uniques by a long margin

Power armour is useful when going up against foes that can either easily overwhelm you or are in good positions with heavy weapons, fusion cores are common as fuck so long as you search thoroughly

Quest are decent, wandering doesn't hurt either
Most enemies won't have decent gear until you wander away from the starting zone though

went there to get the x01 power armor. door to "custom tower building" is in the wall, leads to a chained up butchery of body parts. go to x01 tower, but enemies randomly spawn as i round the corner of the building. raiders, then vertis with BoS, then feral dogs, and super muties (all in places I already walked by on the way there)

Only played fallout 4 and Skyrim.
Were "dungeons" and main missions this long to explore in Fallout 3 and NV?
Some of the story missions and even side missions take me an hour or more to complete since the dungeons they are in are huge and have lots of verticality.

I'm having *stupid* amounts of fun playing the game like this. In the beginning you've basically got to play it like a stealth game. There's very few enemies that you can kill more than one of unless you've got really good cover. I've spent probably 80% of my time in this game on my knees and hidden. If a big group of enemies detects you in the early game, you've basically got to just sprint away.

End game is where shit gets REALLY fun. Once you have the top teir of mods, you can start killing enemies with a handful of headshots. Thing is, even with power armor, you still die in a handful of shots. Game basically becomes STALKER, sneaking around enemies, picking them off 1 at a time then hiding again, etc. It's really just way too fun.

One problem is the game clearly wasn't made to handle this play style. There's a handful of times where you MUST take damage, and I couldn't do those. I had to tgm for the start of the Kellog and railroad route Maxson fights. I'd die literally the instant those fights started normally.

Still, it's just stupidly fun.
