Stealth sniping is fun/easy once you upgrade to a proper sniper rifle. Doesn't even need to be silenced. If you kill them from far away is takes them a while to figure out where you're shooting from.

This pistol is ridiculous on my agility/stealth build. 9 shots in a single VATS go and sneak attack multipliers. You can literally enter a room with 5 enemies, tag 2 shots on each head, then put down the controller and go make a pot of coffee while business gets taken care of.

For anyone who thinks the jetpack action point drain is terrible and should be gone, here's some game settings you can change if you don't want to use that plugin mod:
