I finished the story, but I'm stuck in the post game. The weakest monster girl I can fight one-shots every one of my units, unless I stop playing on Expert which I don't want to do. And apparently I need to beat post game in order to see a single "ending," so I've pretty much put the game down for now until I have the time to reform my party.

I thought Crystal was fun, but maybe I wouldn't think so if I had seen most of the girls already. So I don't want to recommend it randomly, you should really ask someone who played both.

The only DRPG I played this year was Stranger, and I personally enjoyed Crystal more, because of its content and characters. Stranger has better gameplay but wasn't as interesting to me.

How are Crystal's dungeons?

I put the game aside to finish something else first, but I've played 2 chapters.

Basically the same game.
- Exploit elemental weaknesses for combos
- Monster girl traits compatibility
- Recruit girls by defeating them and rubbing them successfully
- Still comedy oriented
- Dungeon crawl feels similar as well

Some notable improvements:
- A lot more CG, a few per chapter instead of just one.
- A lot more girls, 80 of them.
- Can mix and match stats types and job types, but still limited to 5 types each.
- Auto patrol using map function.
- Each girl gets 2 supports, which are monster girls instead of H monsters as in Chronicle.
- You can unlock a chant type for each monster girl, which in turn can be used to enchant equipment.
- Equipment strengthening system
- MC now has a fairly useful skill, that puts a character into action immediately.
- Each dungeon also comes with a special dungeon that is a bit harder.
- There is a combo system, which triggers if you use certain skills in a certain order.

There are a lot more things to do with each girl. You can unlock 3 crystals with each of them. They give you the 10th heart (presumably for an ending, haven't reach there yet), a unique skill (much like DT2) as well as the ability to mix and match stats/jobs.

The crystal locking each involves clearing mini dungeons and mini games. One of them involves a side event where you look into the girl's thoughts.

The dungeons feel quite similar in style, so the main change is the different theme. Chapter 1 features a toy making factory, for instance, see pic.

So, basically it's still the same game but with quite a lot of new content to make it feel fresh.

I liked Moero for its dialog -relative- to Stranger's, whose dialog mostly consists of vague soothsaying, soliloquy, and angst (very little of which is voiced)

I play games to escape from my shitty world, not get placed in an even shittier one and told to escape that too

dungeon gimmicks for Moero Crystal (as best as I can remember)


Toy area: Nothing
Casino: A really, really bad pitfall that puts you in a room full of symbol encounters
Bamboo Forest: Map disappears in certain areas
Music Town: Nothing
Crypt: More switches and pitfalls than usual
Gallery: Slippery floors, 1-way hallways, disorientation tiles, confusing warp panels out the ass

The Crystal dungeons (girls' individual dungeons) have all of the above, in addition to 1-way doors and probably other gimmicks I haven't seen yet.

mobs are hilariously overpowered on Expert, so getting random party wipes while walking down a hallway is where I got most of my in-dungeon entertainment
