Plus infernalworks has a shitty layout, oftentimes mods actually lack descriptions in their threads and there's so many mods that someone new to that site has no clue which are actually worthwhile to spend your time on getting to run.

Gilgamesh and Rebellion can help clear out a bunch of rooms pretty easily. You'd be surprised.

Maybe if he was only tied to 1 style and 1 set of weapons he'd be severely limited, but you can use just 1 set of weapons and all styles just fine.

Literally my biggest frustration with the batman games were people praising it's combat like it's the 3rd coming of christ. When I asked some of them about it they were totally baffled that I implied otherwise. The impression I got was that they liked the animations and the fact that you could point the stick towards another enemy mid combo. Shit that is literally as old as the snes.

It's much better. It's more rounded, and the concave sticks feel fantastic. There's also a fancy multicolor led and a headphone jack, if that can be of any use to you.

The only thing I don't like is the placement of the central buttons. The Share and Start buttons are way too tiny and out of place to use for taunting mid-battle, but you can simply set those to the trackpad.

I've said it 1000 times now. Sengoku Basara is a Warriors game and has always been that. It plays 95% like a Warriors game, it uses the same formula as a Warriors game, and the other 5% leftover is just Capcom's input. People say it's cuhrayzee, but to me, the combos don't look any better than Orochi Warriors combo. I'd even say that because OW has a third character they even look more interesting than Sengoku Basara combos.

The only argument is that Sengoku Basara apparently has depth, but doesn't require any real execution. It's just Warriors game with Anime swordmans and some depth.

And for people would like to argue against me, don't worry... I've already purchase the game and it's on the way. You get my full review soon. By the way I did play the 3rd game.

The best Sengoku Basara combo video was done by some anon here and was entered in one of the recent VST. His combos literally look like shit from Warriors Orochi.

Ground base -> Tag -> Re-position -> Ground Base -> Tag -> Add a little bit of jumping in there -> Add some Musou supers -> etc -> etc -> possible repeat(?) -> etc -> etc

Same shit from WO. Even the General NPC's physics act the same. Once they get in a combo their just a game physics experiment.


I might make a Webm showing the combos side by side so you can see there's really no difference from a visual PoV.

So, i decided to play my dmc 4 vanilla on my xbox, after some time of playing bayonetta only. I pick Dante and go on mission 17 on Dante Must Die.

And for some reason, i'm better at the game, i didn't do anything advanced, i actually did pretty basic stuff (and i didn't even switch from rebellion at all), but i was able to control my position and the enemies quite well. I died twice, one in the beginning,and i restarted the stage, and the other on the agnus fight because i messed up and got cornered when he decided to spin.

And i still don't touch royal guard, i think i'm going to practice that.

A few things to fix or add to that guide

> You kept the part about "walking is required to cancel shotgun". I told you this isn't the case, you just need to jump forward or backward.

They've patched the demo for better less clunky gameplay, and they have said announced relatively recently several changes to the combat system.
Evade cancels for your attacks. No MP necessary for basic roll.
There's less of the "walk-around in a circle" when you want to turn 180 (this is in the demo patch)
MP gain will be more prominent during battle, so battles wont be hit, run and hide.

They also said that weapon switching won't be automated, and instead be up to the player (yay motherfucker).

There is going to be aerial combos, with warping included.
Then there's magic that we don't know anything about.

Yes the targetting system was irresponsive as fuck mostly due to the fact that it's hard to change targets while attacking, and not using dmc4's targetting priority. These were big complaints with the poll and I'm sure they worked on that shit hard.
When attacking you were pulled into enemies, that was shit too, and it seems there will be no real execution barrier.
But the more I play it the more I'm beginning to see how it flows and that I could have serious potential if they play their cards right.

Every single one of the moves you listed in the first paragraph, apply for the second one.

I just started playing GodHand but Pummel is a basic attack and the final hit is a knockback, Stomp knocks down, Countering demons is also a knockback, touch of god I'm not sure, but when it hits regular enemies I believe it knocks back. You can see Kob using all of these in his NG+ Hard run.

QTEs/Button prompts and "Shitty mechanic where you're invincible throughout it's duration, stuck in a cinematic" aren't necessarily the same thing, even though that's the main implementation of them.

I hit the point on my "New Game NSIC Pure Platinum Run with bayonetta"(inspired by yoshesque's run with Jeanne on NSIC), that was most afraid.

Chapter V, i just did it, and got my Pure Platinum on it. The reasons i was afraid of this chapter are:

-Witch Time alfheim, i believe that with Jeanne is impossible to do this alfheim without bracelet of time, but i'm not sure, but i'm doing with bayonetta, it was easier than i thought, and since i was able to get halos enough to buy a gaze of despair (i have since chapter 2, didn't stop to grind or anything like that), i was able to gain a lot of meter, and the alfheim was easier.
-The chapter is long, meaning that if i got a bad score in time or combo (since damage is easy to control), i would have to start over again.
-Stay in the air alfheim. This one was the one that i was theorizing all the time on how to do it, since at this point in game, i don't have either a bracelet of time, or the bird form. But it was exactly how i thought, break the enemy armor the fastest possible, and then uses the whip grab and enemy step off the enemy, i wasn't perfect, so i had to go for a menu in the middle of the alfheim to change the whip for a sword so i could stop my fall momentum a few seconds more, but i believe that with precision and setup, you can do it without changing weapons.
-Instakill moment, this one got me, before the fight agains the serpent thing, it seems that it is easier to fall on harder difficulties on this part, but i was able to restart.
-Jeanne boss fight, nothing like a bossfight in the end of a long chapter, eh?

But i was able to go trough it, and i got my pure platinum, and now i can buy the bird form and bat within, that will make the run way easier, i'm just afraid of one alfheim in the future and possible resets.

Hey /cgg/ BnS anon here! I know in the past I have shown off some PvP stuff without really explaining anything so I'd like to give some of that right now. Today I'll go over the recovering and escape mechanics, their properties and when can they be used. I will also use WebMs to showcase them.

Back Rolls
>Can only use while on the floor or in a groggy state.
>Decent cooldown
>0.2 secs of I-Frames at the end

Back rolling is probably the most unsafe thing to do while on the floor and is best to use it only when you have your Tab or if the player cannot use that as an opportunity to get a big punish on you. When near the edge of the arena it is never ever a smart decision.


Tab (Escape)
>Can be used to escape most situations
>Can not be used to escape grabs
>Long cooldown
>1 second of I-Frames once you have completely escaped

Tab is the most important tool to know when to use and to also watch out for during all PvP matches. It is the only tool you have in the game that will allow you escape both stun and knockdown combos. Many of the previous WebMs clips I've shown you consist of players doing 100 - 0 combos. Once you burn this skill you are completely open to anything and everything, use it wisely!


Now I will show you a clip for my point of view. @ around 0:02 my opponent slams me on the ground. If you look to right of my character you will see a skill appear, prompting that it can now be used. Around 0:03 seconds there's a silhouette, that indicates that the I-Frames at the end were active as the attack landed. After that my opponent uses a shoulder charge which put me in a stunned state, into a knockdown, great back roll punish but was a little late. @ 0:07 I decided to use my Tab. The skill on the Left near the chat box is my Tab.

Now after that, I knockdown my opponent and then baited his back roll -> spin with a back dash(changes to Draw Stance) penta slash into a full combo. The reason this happened was due to my opponent burning his Tab earlier.

I sort of like it right now and am excited for it's features, but it plays totally different than it looks. To me the gameplay looked a bit more stiff and methodical, but it's quite button mashy and slidey, often leaving you attacking in a direction you didn't want to or sliding all the way past 3 enemies close to you because the auto targetting system thought it was a good idea to home in on that small elephant thing on the other side of the battle. The 2 or 3 attacks that don't have that homing "feature" feel really good though and would be comparable to something out of dmc4. One jumping spear attack in particular.
Also once you're locked in an attack combo it's hard to get out and change targets unless you cancel out of it with a roll, jump, or warp.

But I really think these things are so lame because of the demo, and seeing as they're doing a lot of smart things with the combat system and these were the most obvious complaints they might actually pull this one off. True cuhrayzee I can't say, but It'll definitely have a technical aspect to it.

Also the boyband thing is pretty amusing. Sometimes they're just guys talking shit. Sometimes they're just being typical animu fags with special snowflake syndrome and poetic tendencies.

Grab Counters
>Used to counter grabbed state
>To activate, requires being pressed at the exact same time your opponent uses their next attack

Grab counters are very skillful and only work when timed with your opponent's attack. It requires you to press the button at the same time and will not work if you miss it by even a single frame. They are very hard to do, but if you can read your opponent's timing habits you'll manage to get one off. Very rewarding since guessing does not work.

Forgot to mention that the counter does not work on the grab itself. Any damage, animations or attacks being done during the grab can not be countered and will count as a missed counter. It is the next skill you must counter, not the actual grab.

Grab Escapes

Grab Escape is an escape that is bound to what I'd say is one of your best skills and is only available if you put skill points into the actual skill before the match starts. It's pretty much the Grab version of Tabs.

Also, about the skill point, unlike most MMOs, Blade and Soul is an competitive game first, the main focus is PvP. Skill points in blade and soul can be re-spec at anytime on the fly while out of combat or waiting for a round to begin. If you were fighting say... a Blade Master, you will not place points into the skill, because you do not need it against Blade Master since they don't have a grab. Instead you spec some only place. It is only useful against classes with grabs.

All I see from looking at that webm is a dude getting hit and armoring straight through it. From the other demo footage I browsed other enemies barely react to getting hit too, and I highly doubt that'll change much in the finished game. There's no interesting move properties that have various effects on different enemies, because that doesn't matter in an RPG.

How much of a grind would unlocking moves be? how much are levels and stat padding going to affect the potential for skillful play? Would there be a decent post game that allows you to experiment when you become end game levels of OP? Would there even be an NG+?

The game might have some semi interesting mechanical nuances with the warp stuff, but at the end of the day there's no chance in hell it'll be cuhrayzee.

Combos

Comboing in Blade & Soul only requires you to remember the 6 rules. They are Stun, Groggy, Aerial, Knockdown, Skill Resets, and Ani-cancels. Learn which skills qualify to have the five states and also learn which attacks Ani-cancel into each other. Ani-cancels, known as Animation Cancelling, are Normal attacks that can continuously chain into one another. When this is done in say, a fighting game, usually the character will start to move away from the other character being hit. But in Blade and Soul there is no form of push back. Ani-cancels are solely for damage only, they do not have cool down, but they do cost meter.

Take a look at the WebM from >>122327360 and focus on the bottom right of the screen. Notice the blue orbs? Yes ,that is my meter gauge. During the combo you will notice it depletes but it is also building meter. That is because some of the attacks being used build meter, too! The only thing that limits you from continuing a combo is the amount of meter you have. This only applies to PvP. At PvE end game with the right weapon and gems you can have infinite meter and combo infinite! Or until whatever it is you were hitting dies. PvP is equalized so meter will drain during combos. And even with meter management, every class in the game has a death combo in Arena PvP as I've shown in the pass with the exception of Assassin. Assassin does have death combos, but they Okizeme you to death, and it is very very hard to deal with a good Assassin.

This shit is worse than DMC2.
Jumping feels like DMC2 except even less gravity.
No way to manually aim, auto lock-on is atrocious and switches like crazy.
Game is almost musou in combat/enemy/level design.
You have to use magic attacks to damage bosses and nothing but magic attacks.
No way of proper crowd control apart for magic attack or mashing melee and hope to stun-lock them first.
Certain enemies can only be killed/efficiently killed via magic attacks so if you're out of magic your fucked.
No way to style apart for maybe using the teleport cancels.
You need to find collectibles to level up damage output instead of using souls, the currency in-game.
Enemies are sponges, attacks have odd hitbox, some enemies you have to shoot to kill because they're too small to melee, hit confirmation overall feels wonky.
Christ, why do I even own this shit.

Well me neither. This is a demo, and I'm just showing off base mechanics. Hopefully the full game will provide some advanced tech. I'm hoping, and I asked at the forums for jumping off of enemies to create loops. magic and guns would have to be usable in the air, and the air combo system would have to be about as complex as the ground combat. Either way I think it's going to be a fun game to break.

Like a lot of bosses in cuhrayzee games he doesn't always get knocked back or flinch when hit. He's challenging to fight and the pace of the fight seems pretty harsh for a tutorial sparring partner.

The robot soldiers get consistantly staggered, or knocked back by jumping attacks, dragoon jump, some directional specials, and the greatsword. The mammoth type enemies are pretty irresponsive even to those attacks but do topple when hit enough. The large dinosaur type enemy mostly doesn't respond but sometimes he does fall over.

Apparently there will be some beefy post game content. There is no NG+ confirmed as of yet.

Why just with the warp stuff? In the demo you can use the dodge roll to turn in any direction during it's last few frames, preparing for a back attack. It's also possible to do attacks out of the normal combo string pattern the game uses, or even repeat them. I've done both accidentally. The warp stuff might be interesting but I'm not sure how much freedom we'll have.

Please understand that I know what cuhrayzee is, and what it's most pure form should look like. All I'm hoping is that the final game will provide what I want.

But mechanics wise, there is nothing similar to God of War. Interviews with Kamiya show that he basically based himself on his fundamentals (dmc 1 basic stuff), and that he played dmc 4, when making bayonetta.

maybe torture attacks, since they are kinda similar to God Of war QTE finishes, but in bayonetta they are completely optional and they use meter. =P

I am always using title menu continue trick, like a little bitch i am.

I think trying to do it "legitimately" in one go is just wasting your time. I know i can do it if spend enough time and in some chapters i DID it all in one go anyway. Especially when i fail on combo late into the chapter, like verse 10.

I just don't have it in me to restart. Especially if there are Joys involved in previous verses.

That's how i did it, only i had sword/whip from the get go and no need to enter menu. I didn't even bother killing second Grace. For extra vertical boost you can equip shotguns on feet.

Don't even need sword charge floating in the air -- just get high enough and start sloooowly descending while shooting with guns. If Grace or Glory try to attack -- even better -- maha-kalaa resets both your double jump AND sword charging.

I think in one of those i clutched it by hanging three meters above the ground and angel dog saved me by shooting easily parry-able fireball at me and i restarted sword charging.

I think it's Chapter V, right before Jeanne boss fight there is backtracking alfheim with manta ray angels and that one is tricky. I remember both completely forgetting it and failing on combo on it. That verse (#13 i think) was one of the most disheartening to fail on in a long chapter

Balancing RPG elements with action gameplay is a huge problem when it comes to the possibility of any ARPG being cuhrayzee, because they typically take a different direction and prioritize different aspects compared to a pure action game. The things that make an action game deep or cuhrayzee are totally irrelevant to what makes an ARPG combat system "good" or even "good enough". I'm not seeing anything from FFXV that indicates the combat system is more than just flash, like KH.

Yes. You can hit them again and this causes another stagger.

Yes. When an enemy is either staggered from small hits, or knocked onto the ground, it is possible to keep knocking them down. This depends on the enemy and attack though, and I'm not sure about staggering knocked down enemies. The robots respond really well to being hit, but the mammoth type enemies hardly react. There are also dog-type enemies that have stagger when hit with small hits but can still try to dodge out of your attacks. I think the game has multiple options to dash after them and continue attacking if you predict this. I haven't tested it yet because I just realized.

I haven't carefully analyzed but as far as I can see now there are 2 types of stun, but the drain attack also has a different type I think. There is also the stop status effect, and the full game will likely have other stuff such as slow, haste, frozen, etc.

defiance was a failed dmc clone with less variety (at least that's how I felt when I was 16 and not yet cuhrayzee)

I've tried to record some stuff. Excuse the no webms, but converting ps4 recorded footage takes ages and I don't have the time.

The game has the "warp-dodge" on L1. You hold it and it dodges shit for you automatically, but this uses mp. The longer you hold it before an attack is dodged the more mp it uses, motivating you to press it the moment you are attacked. A timed press cancels any attack you're doing into the dodge. In this vid I did an attack and when looking at the footage I saw the attack still did damage.

The greatsword attack at the end is normally triggered when you delay your button press during "ravage" which is the state you are in during your basic light attack combo. Similar to mashing light atk in MGR this is an infinite looping pattern. In this case I wasn't in a ravage state, and normally after an air attack you revert to "crush" state which is your initial combo starter from which you cannot do the delayed attack. Still it came out here and I'm not sure why.

The spear you see is set as the attack combo's opening attack. It mostly does the same attack but here it doesn't. I assume this is a back, or turned attack. Also how the boss doesn't seem to be combo-able which is disappointing.

A basic combo using stun states.
1st attack makes enemy flinch
2nd and 3rd make the enemy stagger backward
4th knocks him back, and he's actually hit again during his knockback by the same attack, restarting his knockback animation.

In the demo directional attacks can only be done during the "ravage" state. Which in that footage is the short sword. At one point you see noctis do a little twirl to the side. That is one of that weapon's directional attacks. Is it normally not possible to do directional attacks outside of ravage, but I've seen it happen. In this case the spear attacks you see aren't directional attacks since those look different.

Stun states seem static as far as I've seen. But the bigger issue at hand for now is how hard it is to hit an enemy that is being knocked back. I'll concentrate on trying it.

Actually the main game will use the same attack states slots as the demo. The only difference will be that you can imagine all the slots being filled by the same weapon (the one you have equipped) and when you switch weapons it will fill all the slots with another weapon. Still, directional attacks are bound to the Ravage state, so if you're doing a vanquish attack (delayed button press during ravage state) which puts you in the Crush state you can't do a directional attack or another delayed attack after it. Normally. Because there are apparently exceptions that sometimes happen. This system will most likely stay intact in the final game. Which is cool, only if there are indeed ways to break this flow using frame perfect inputs or other state changing tricks.

There will be multiple weapon types. A few have been confirmed: guns, daggers, greatswords, short swords, spears. Each type will have their own moveset. Then within each weapon type you'll have variants with different stats and skills attached.
If we're lucky the moveset will vary between weapons within a type like dark souls might have a different R2 attack on some weapons, but I'm not expecting it.

I'm gonna be the asshole and say that, all of the platforming sections in DMC1/3/4 if I recall correctly are fairly easy.
In DMC1, apart for Griffon (I just go DT and shoot him in most cases), and acquiring the Nightmare-b gun, most of them were fairly easy. You can even get Ifrit in one-go by just remembering that you walk off of platforms from just walking
In DMC3, it's just that one room with spinning cubes that requires platforming and apart for camera fuck-ups, it's easy.
Even in DMC4, most of the platforming is focused on Nero's missions and all of them either expect you to time Snatch correctly, which is piss-easy, or the focus is on dealing other enemies and even then there is the option to deal the enemies first although it wastes time (the dreaded invisible bridge).
That being said, all of the games would've benefited from not having them at all. They barely teach anything to the player and has nothing to do with the core-gameplay

Trickster is good to learn his attacks, once you die enough times you'll start to recognize his patterns and animations. Remember, sky star shits iframes
Swordmaster isn't that great for your first times, you'll have a harder time staying alive than dealing damage to him
As the other anon said, if you can RG well it's worth it to use it, just remember some of his attacks have delayed hitboxes and that jumping/rolling and immediately guarding gives you better guards
Doppleganger is the same as swordmaster if not worse, since vergil stays staggered only for a certain number of hits, not damage or time, so you'll rarely do a full combo on him.
Quicksilver is decent, but giving up DT/DTE isn't worth it

Well there's many games that have elements like these. Take dragon's dogma as an example. Whether enemies stagger or knockback is reliant on their stagger hp, or knockback hp. How much you damage these per hit is reliant on your level and the weapons you have equipped. So it's very unreliable to predict when one of these is going to happen, and it's annoying to even get a weapon with high enough stagger damage that doesn't kill the enemy before you get the chance to use it.

The strider's daggers also feel totally button mashy. As if there is no substance

I really love how full of personality dmc 3 bosses are, but some of them are sometimes so gimmicky that makes me angry. Nevan and The shadow being examples.

DMC 4 bosses, they are cool, but like, the fact that you fight most bosses 3 times, it is annoying, but the fights are more straightfoward, and i think they are more pleasant when playing the game over and over.

Actually with Sanctus he has a shield and then you need to break him out of his attacks so you're stunning him.
And you need to catch him after he charges his sword if his health is low (if you're Dante) With Nero, you can use Buster.
And when you do break his shield, at times he'll either block, teleport and attack you (then block), or spam more projectiles while running away.

With Nevan, she'll just sit right there and let you hit her after you get rid of her shield.

And he is vulnerable for you to maximize damage, while my experience with nevan is doing little damage when i don't have dt explosion each time she is vulnerable.

But every single nevan move is super easy to avoid, everything is properly cued (sanctus too in this part), i think that my problem with nevan is that the fight takes too much time, i get tired, and make mistakes...

nevan is superior in pretty much every department but the #1 thing is that she's just an early/mid boss while sanctus is literally the final boss. they shame some similarities in their simplicity but nevan overall has better design regardless

These fucking Combat Adjudicators are complete bullshit.

It hurts my fingers to have to mash out these goddamn combos to get the SSS needed to break them.

It's usually fun for me to get SSS in combat situations, but in this case, an SSS is not fun at all.

Okay, i'll say this now.

Probably the thing that made me realize how poorly made was bayonetta 2 in comparison with 1 and it becomes evident more and more is that, when i play devil may cry 3, 4, bayonetta 1, Wonderful 101. Everytime i get to a place where i just suck at, i'll do again and again, and i'll learn stuff, and things become easier, and i can see what is happening. The biggest example of that, is that i couldn't even touch rodin without pillow talk, and now i'm almost getting a pure platinum on him without using pillow talk, climax brace or even pulley's butterfly to protect me, and even the first humanoid boss in bayonetta 2, it is random, is about how i can dodge his moves, and this wouldn't be bad by itself, but Goddamn, i feel that my chances of dodging his stuff are completely random, sometimes i get a perfect on him, sometimes i get rekt, there is not much learning, his moves are weird (all enemies have weird moves, and dodging them is even more weird). If at least each move had a clear cue, for me to learn to dodge them properly, like the use witch time alfheims in the first game...

Speaking of Link.

He has a very interesting moveset in Twilight Princess. The game is definitely not cuhrayzee or deep, but I really enjoyed doing the Cave of Ordeals (the arena challenge in the Gerudo Desert), since it forced you to use all your tools and encouraged you to use your moveset in the most optimal way in order to avoid damage and to kill enemies faster.

I really like the Z-targeting of Zelda games; it's a shame that the 3D games have never really cared about combat.

I've been on the fence of buying HW for quite a while, but whenever I read about its combat, I always read that it is grindy and repetitive. Granted that I've never played a Musuo game, so I don't really know what I'm talking about.

And it's very sad to see how much games in general have been casualized. I remember playing games like Mega Man X and Super Castlevania as a kid, and totally loving them.

As always it's a combination of many factors

first it was exclusivity aura that propped it up, especially on a platform that didn't have much going for it at the time

Why it didn't fizzled out right then you start to play the game is that despite it's memetastic difficulty a lot of design decisions are all laser targeted for wide appeal:

-- trivializing death by allowing to recover after dying
-- game's glacier-style slow speed allows majority of gray unwashed masses to play it
-- primitive button layout allows anyone to figure out how to play the game without "memorizing 100s of dial a combos" (which STILL is a common criticism, despite that this barrier only exists in their heads)
-- RPG leveling up equalizes the playing field further allowing to grind for straight up stat boosting

The only qtes that can fuck off are the ones that come out of nowhere. For bayonetta, ninety percent of the qtes were near the end of the boss fight, where they were pretty much of no consequence.

DMC1 was planned as RE4 originally, and it shows. It's like a survival horror game with an overpowered protagonist. I say overpowered, but Dante is still stiffer and more vulnerable than in DMC3. A lot of your moves aren't cancellable, and there's even a bit of delay to your guns, so you have to be more careful with button mashing. Jumping has no invincibility frames from what I can tell. On the other hand the devil trigger is even more of a brainless god mode button than it is in the later games. In general.

DMC1 is more about finding specific enemy weaknesses and then using the most suitable weapon to kill them quickly. Even the shotgun can kill some enemies in a couple of blasts, and there's boss fights where you're expected to stand around and spam your pistols. They pretty much stomped the guns to the ground when turning DMC into a grazy gombo game.

Ok, so for YEARS, YEARS, I thought DMC4 was garbage, wrote it off at a glance back in '09 probably because there was some fag with a demon hand on it instead of dante (never played a previous DMC, just saw the boxes in rental shops as a kid and thought they were the coolest shit).

I peddled enough of my dota 2 items away to afford DMC4 special edition...

I haven't stopped playing since, god this game is incredible, on par with bayo, I'm having more fun with this than I did with bayonetta 2, the story isn't as good as bayo 2 but the gameplay though.

Played through Nero's campaign and thought the game was much better than I thought, played great, didn't much care for nero himself though.
Then the game gave me Dante, and everything got 10x more stylish.
Played through lady/trish's campaign in one sitting after finishing Dante, both played great.

I like Dante the best so far, I do the best as Lady (most stylish least die-lish) and want to get good at Vergil, but the pastebin has nothing for him.

Is lady broken or just a baby friendly character?
Where should I go for Vergil tips? I'm pretty much just alternating between delayed yamato combos and focusing on trying to hit the JUST judgement cuts.

How do I do a Royal Guard block in DMC3 without getting any damage? I already have Royal Guard on LV3 and I'm still taking chip damage when I block.

I was recently watching some Royal Guard videos on YouTube (like this dude who was doing Royal Guard against DMD Vergil 3) and noticed that the players were (1) able to block without taking any chip damage whatsoever and (2) were able to block attacks that I wasn't able to block.

I often practice on the chess pieces. I still take a slight millimeter of damage when I press R1+O to block their attack.

Also, how do they block Vergil's attacks? When I block Vergi's attacks, my guard gets broken and I get put in this staggered state.

I don't want to remove them. Just bring their IS spamming levels down. They should only each throw once every 30-40 seconds and their throws should be super loudly telegraphed. Also, if a IS lands next to me and explodes, I should NOT suffer damage. I should only suffer damage if it lands on me and explodes on me while I'm not in i-frames.

Anyway you can reset the camera with one of the triggers (don't know configuration for Sigma 1, should be R1 or R2) and it will stop being fucked up. Also the horse boss is super fucking easy, you just need to wait for him to ride up to you, doge and slash or charge up an ET and release once he's almost at you

I've read very mixed opinions around the web,
so I'd like to know how deep is the game. What are some of its strenghts and weaknesses?

The first thing to immediately discredit is that God Hand controls bad. Admittedly the controls do take a while to get used to, but the people who complain about them like it's the Hiroshima nuking or something are idiots. The way the game controls is objectively 100% beneficial to the mechanics and gameplay, there's nothing contrarian about it.
That said if you want to know what's so good about the game, all you need to know is from this video. I've tried to make a God Hand review myself and honestly, I don't think any one can possibly be as good without repeating a majority of this one.

As for weaknesses, I'll name some:

>Enemies can feel samey to some after a while
>Level design drops the ball kinda
>Textures are pretty ugly
>Game actually is a little unfair due to some overlooked gameplay quirks
>Audio mixing needs a little work
>Despite the plentiful amount of moves, some types of moves could definitely use way more coverage
>KMS crowd control options are pretty enforcing with its limitations
>30FPS (people actually fail to recognize this with how smooth it feels to play though)

That said these are mostly all issues you'll notice in higher level play. The game itself is just so fantastic fundamentally you won't care, even if you're good at it. This general also agrees it has the best enemy roster in all cuhrayzee due to both its sheer quantity and quality. With a few exceptions you can count on one hand, they're pretty excellent. The combat options are also among the deepest in /cgg/, the variety can give DMC3 a run for its money.
It's also the most fun I ever had with a game that gave me a challenge too, so do give it a shot. Totally worth your time.

I honestly don't care that much about graphics or fps as long as the game is funcional and fun. As an enthusiast of cuhrayzee it was only natural that I checked out this game after playing and getting gud at Bayo and DMC; I guess Ninja Gaiden should be the next one I try as well, but that is another story.

Maybe DS doesn't appeal to me at all, which it doesn't actually. The combat looks boring, unfinished and incomplete.The weapon are uncool, the character designs are unappealing. The Boss and the world are decent - ok I guess, but most importantly, this has killed off any chances of there being another Armored Core game in the near future.

No, same shit. I'm not even comparing this to cuhrayzee games, I honestly don't find anything fun about those games, and seeing all the normalfags jump on it like games have never been difficult in the pass annoys me, because they are ones who killed off the challenging games back in 2008/2009.

IMaybe I am too addicted to the cuhrayzee style, through. I mean I haven't purchase a Triple A title since 2008 and don't plan to anytime soon, because they're all shit games with great presentation, that's my opinion.
