I think Cross Channel was one of these games, then I read it and while it was fun, there wasn't any fantastic writing, hell the plot was rather generic. I did enjoy it, but I didn't think it was written by some mastermind that no one else could replicate.

I did though. And maybe his novels are good, I'm saying I don't see how it can be that good in VN form. So far Cross Channel definitely didn't confirm that. Jintai is actually one of my favorite anime but again, I like it because it's "fun" and I don't think it's particularly breath taking.

Maybe I just don't know what we're arguing about here. Why Romeo/Scaji specifically, reading their works and then reading something like Kara no Shoujo or whatever, I don't really notice a drop in quality hell there's quite a bit of other VN writers I like better.

Aura is originally a novel, not a manga, and it's a famous one, dunno about the anime, since it seems it cut a lot of parts.
the Chuulove thing was based on it, but Aura is more dark because the girl gets bullied for her chuunibyou, it's also much better written, since the narration actually makes you believe the girl has powers and shit before revealing it's all in her head.

It's the best western visual novel, it's just disguised as a cRPG. Its wide cast of interesting characters (Trias, The Nameless One, Practical Incarnation, The Transcendent One, Dak'kon, fuck, even countless less important NPCs), great narration, some good twists and unique world make it worth your time, every fucking second. No, that's not it. If an English release doesn't have uncensored art it's usually because either:
a) the uncensored assets don't exist anymore and commissioning someone to redraw the mosaic'd areas is deemed too expensive/not worthwhile (many companies don't hang onto them because if you're just planning to sell in Japan, why bother?)
b) the original developers refuse to give the localizers the uncensored artwork (minori for example won't give MangaGamer uncensored assets because they are extremely paranoid about reverse-importation causing them legal trouble) or
c) the localizing company doesn't think removing mosaics is particularly important or advantageous (maybe the art beneath looks like ass), so they opt to release with them intact.

MangaGamer only releases with mosaics at the behest of partners or if assets don't exist.
