Hunting with a bow isn't much different from hunting with a blademaster weapon. Except halved defense of course.

I've done all of Caravan with a HBG from when you only get the horrid, horrid Bone Shooter all the way to Master's Test, it can be done.

? It's about as fast as LBG, just moves slowly. It helps to have Eva+1 as soon as possible to be able to evade anything that the monsters can throw at you. You can also bring both cats: they're as much help to gunning as they're a hassle to melee. Distracting the monster is what gunners want adds to do after all.

One of the reasons female armor sucks. They let you customize your haircut, only to override it with the armor's own thematic design. But at the same time they keep the helmets open, so you could see the ugly low res face, you picked among even uglier ones.

Where are people taking all this information from, now?

I've spent the majority of my MH3U and 4U playtime playing solo with Hammer and thinking it is best weapon.
It was also the weapon that made me stick to the series and really open my eyes to the fun and glory.

When I started doing online with 4U and with friends and randos, I'm the only one ever using it.
And when I come here I occasionally see posts begrudging it. And I wonder why.

Why do some consider Hammer bad?

I can't say I've ever noticed it being bad in 4U End Game unless my definition of it varies. I'm at Exploding Brachy G rank.

I'm nearly Grank 200 and use it as my primary weapon. I use it together with Black Diablos and I think gemmed for Part Breaker, dodge distance, KO King and Attack or Deffense Up. Don't have DS on me right now.

I use the Right Trigger near religiously to start and continue my combos and as a means of movement.
Maybe I've simply gotten used to it but I've never felt outclassed by monsters in late game.

Yeah I've noticed the CB being, what I feel, too much a jack of all trades. It has made my job as heavy hitter and support more difficult to catch up with CB users and even worse; nearly irrelevant.
Maybe I'm just being petty but I can't stand playing with a lot of CB users.
Stupid explosions always kniw me out of my animations and they won't stay away from the head and let me do my job.
Yeah the Hammer can toss friends, but at least you can combo into a mount and it doesn't have an explosive radius.

Consider Honed Blade, Challenger+2 and Weakness Exploit/Ruthlessness instead of it and partbreaker, Atk Up and Def Up.

Heavy Bowgun's only behind the GS in being the most consistent top tier weapon in the series though, and that only because of the Tri bowgun hiccup and P3rd's failed implementation of Siege. Not really a marginalized weapon you should feel good seeing someone use, speaking as a HBG mainer since Unite.

Also, I always use Eva+1 and Trajectory in my sets despite the general community's memetic disdain for them and never actually gotten shit for it, so don't feel very pressured to follow the guidelines and know that you're fine as long as you're not carting and not disrupting other players.

brachydium might be worth looking at if you don't mind looking like vomit. you could totally gem it to have adren2, challenger2, EE or evade, HGE, heavy hitter, and part breaker.

hone def is pretty sweet in adrenaline. and don't be afraid to heal up when you're not comfortable (like rage mode). not dying comes first
