There should have been only one ending, that results in Max saving Chloe, but it should have had a bunch of different permutations depending on previous choices that would wind up deciding whether or not various supporting cast members also make it out okay and what the survivors do thereafter. If the tornado was going to hit regardless, there should have been ways to mitigate the damage it inflicted.

And this could have been done beautifully, and was indeed what I figured they were building to, if it weren't for the ridiculous execution.

The bathroom tragedy we spend the whole game getting extra context for, we gradually get a picture of the long chain of cause and effect involving half the town that led to these two teenagers, who had no real beef with each other and actually had a shitload in common, colliding and destroying each other.
But the ending doesn't acknowledge any of that. It doesn't bring anything home.
The only thing that ending acknowledges is that Max is losing Chloe and that's sad.

And as far as the tornado goes, Chloe's second chance at life leading to that just has no basis in anything. Cause and effect? WHAT cause and effect?
It seemed to be going somewhere - eg, if the Prescotts were causing the storm, then her surviving the bathroom would reasonably allow those plans to come to fruition, and there could have been another long line of cause and effect to discover there. Or if it was a natural tornado, fine, go into a little of the science behind to give it a richer context it instead of just "lol cause and effect I guess."
We have a enough info to justify one ending, even if we have to use our imaginations:), but no attempt at all to justify the other.

It could have been a phenomenal story - pick your 'perfect storm', the literal or metaphorical. A story of not just 'shit happens' but that asks WHY shit happens.
As far as the bathroom storm goes, that was a long ass chain of small, individual inactions leading to a tragedy, and if just one person had put their foot down in the last 5 years it would have been avoided.
Instead it was just a story of Max losing her BFF or killing a town to save her, and what the fuck even is that? Just 'shit happens'.

What's frustrating is we'll never get the whole story as to why they abandoned all the story development you just expanded upon. It will always be "this is how we intended it" even though it's pretty obvious that they resorted to a sloppy, simple conclusion for want of time or money or something. I'd just like to hear why, and what they would have done in a perfect situation.

Yeah, I thought it was building up to some profound message myself. That the action of a single person CAN change the course of the universe for the better, that the deep tragedy of senseless human suffering CAN be overcome through collective realization of one's shortcomings.

Instead either you do get to be the one person not to miss his chance to intervene - starting a course where everyone before you gets a chance to make up for the opportunities they led slip past, but then just all simply die horrible deaths. Or you get to let your opportunity slip as well, the terrible tragedy of that all the more apparent to you and everyone involved having to live with that terrible reality of having missed their chance to prevent it, Chloe and everything she could be gone and Nathan very much the same. Not to mention Max who, in either case, suffered through great misery and guilt senselessly.

It just makes everything so cruel and hopeless when it seemed to be building up to a powerful resolve of some kind. Alas, no catharsis for anyone; eat shit... AND die. That's what the endings seem to say to me.

My thoughts on the ending is that both choices were good choices for the story to end, they were just done extremely poorly, like the bae ending, where they put a 2 minute slideshow together and said "fuck it, jobs done". It's a huge wasted opportunity but regardless, the journey I went through on previous episodes with the human character drama was something I could only experience in a video game and it was amazing. That alone makes purchasing the limited edition a decision I am completely happy with regardless of the shitty ending.

But ay, different strokes for different folks.

I'm absolutely certain that the devs are aware of what the community thinks of the endings. All game developers who have worked on something like this don't just shut out the people pointing out flaws in there story and think to themselves "it's perfect". Whether or not sales of the limited edition will show them that a lazy rushed ending is acceptable, they understand that they need to do better. Whether they are undeserving or not is a matter of perspective for different people. I got my moneys worth and more for there product. Others didn't. I'm not saying that what im doing is not harmful, it absolutely can in many other circumstances with other games that are absolutely shit. I don't view Life is Strange that way though.

Purchasing the Limited Edition is not mandatory, if you want to show them that you're not happy with the ending, you have every right to do that. But they know already.

I do this for other games and movies I enjoy, like buying blue ray copies of old movies I already have on DVD. It's weird but I have the money and I only do it when I personally feel like I've purchased something that has earned more than the value I purchased it for.

I haven't followed Dontnods tweets or blogs for awhile and cant be fucked looking but if what your saying is true, I wouldn't worry too much, internally they are probably having a different reaction to the community response than too what they are actually saying externally through social media. Although I'll admit that's a big "probably". Who knows really.

Not episode 2 while episode 1 is airing, but it's a common thing that the season is filmed while airing. The finale of Big Bang Theory is basically recorded maybe 3-4 weeks prior to airing.

I guess I can understand the appeal of physical media. I'm still concerned about how Dontnod really feels about the backlash. There are still a ton of people on Reddit and Tumblr saying there's nothing wrong with the finale. I want to give Dontnod another chance with a second season, but I don't want to go into it with the constant looming fear that it will fall apart at the end.
