The MSQs were always short, excluding the x.0 ones...but not that short.

That said, Yoshi said they'll be focusing the MSQ with one storyline alone and avoid the clusterfuck the MSQ previously was with the Primal investigations, Ul'dah story and etc. in one storyline.
They're also planning on adding several side story quests.

Most of the previous 2.x quests were full of filler bullshit anyway.

The main story quest was significantly shorter than normal and even has fucking QC errors so I'm not prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt 3.15 will fix this issue.

It's not going to matter because the next round of Alexander will have a Normal Mode that drops gear that's i220 or even i230, basically high enough that it's going to be better than the absolute best thing that Diadem's RNG can spit out, AND that gear is going to have materia slots so future gear will be an even bigger step up than you'd think based on the item level jump alone.

The design of Diadem and how it's going to relate to future content is deceptively smart. For the time being it's just Loot Christmas, but they actually put some thought into how this content is going to work a patch or two into the future, which is actually pretty rare for them.

I think most people feel more or less similar to that. A3S is the only good fight in Savage Gordias, and even then it was kind of sabotaged by a really nonsensical gear progression in 3.0 that basically left a ton of groups in a state where they were right on the cusp of being able to clear, but couldn't, because it became literally impossible for them to get any more boosts to their gear.

When a whole raid tier has ONE good fight, and that fight's appeal is severely compromised by the rest of the game around it, that's pretty much the definition of a failed raid tier. They need to do something drastically different for the next one.

Thankfully, KotR EX is a really good example of the exact direction they need to be headed in.

Thordan is a very well designed fight.

Instead of "this is where the fight repeats", it's "and now here's how we take these mechanics and put them together". It's more interesting.

Good DPS definitely helps the fight a lot, but it's not required. Good burst DPS will skip the first tankbuster. Good DPS will only get a single sword oath tankbuster. Good DPS will skip parts of the last phase. But you can recover the fight after you royally screwed up and do more of it while picking up the pieces and still clear. Several first clears used healer LB3.

Even though I love the design of that fight, my favourite thing about it is just a cool thematic touch.

When it gets to the part in the last phase where you have to do the T10 Wild Charge mechanic, it's the same attack that killed Haurchefant, only this time the tank actually successfully blocks it. And if you fail it, he wipes the party, so that's almost the only non-DPS check mechanic that HAS to happen correctly to win the fight.

You can't avoid those anyways? Only thing you have to move for in that phase is heavy impact twice. And the first you can use the firestarter on that you get for free with sharpcast. Hell, if you open with a hardcast fire 3 you can use a firestarter on one and a swiftcast on the other heavy impact.

The blue marks in phase 2? Just turret perpendicular to the two adds on the edge and manaward them. If somebody is near you in proximity, use your swiftcast to get away from them without losing uptime. Last phase can get tricky though, I haven't mapped it out, but it doesn't seem too bad past adjusting your rotation to not fall off with turning for gazes, I have a feeling some things you should AM for.

Only time you shouldn't have Enochian is probably for the small check before the first divebombs divebombs. Just swiftcast fire 3 > fire 1x4 with firestarters is enough for that anyways, burning the 2 knights is more important.

It's actually a fairly BLM friendly fight, everything lines up rather well.

my "social" FC used to be very comfy until someone decided that we were ready to raid
from that point onwards it went to hell, two or three statics formed and no one does anything anymore apart from progression with their respective static and because of this, they also started doing everything else (like old primals, diadem, roulettes ec..) between themselves because of TS circlejerking, which also means that fc chat is completely dead and those who don't raid are completely excluded from fc life
