Reasons not to play on Lordaeron
-- a list by Pezado --

1) Molten has a long history of scamming and shady business practices. In the past they would do things like randomly suspend people's accounts and offer for them to be restored for a cash donation. When they weren't making enough money from their cash shop they decided to intentionally break the Shadowmourne quest line so the only way to obtain the weapon would be to pay €70.

2) After five years their other WotLK servers are still horribly broken. The idea that Lordaeron will be any different is a joke. Molten is all about making money and they will only put in just enough effort to achieve that goal and not a bit more.

3) Gross mismanagement. They've had their databases wiped twice due to the owners jewing eachother. It is not advisable to invest time into Lordaeron because its very possible your character will be destroyed some time in the future. You can read all about this here: http://pastebin.com/tktcCEFC

4) They fake their population big time. In reality Lordaeron only has 1800 to 2400 players online during peak hours. A big difference from the 7,000 they claim. You can find proof of this here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaD8JNy56zw

5) Pay to win. They claim you only will be able to donate for gear 1 tier below the current raid, but everyone knows that's a lie. Lordaeron will go full pay2win before the end of T8 raid content.

I've been having a lot of fun on nostalrius

So I was talking with a friend while I was questing the other day and given how my hunter is still ungemmed and unenchanted, he asked me what exactly I was doing with my gold.

When I told him I spend most of it and my playtime collecting mounts and pets and achievements, he seemed surprised. Afterward the conversation we had made me think.

Is it just me, or does Molten/Warmane only seem to adhere to the main two: PvE/raiders and PvPers, and does it seem like they frown upon people who just want to play the game for fun, i.e. 'casuals'?

Everytime I get curious and look at someone's achieves (even before the Moltdown), they only seem to have points from running dungeons and/or doing PvP. I hardly see mount variety outside of the common donor mounts (Invincible's Reins, the Spectral War Tiger, etc.), mammoths, and the like. And I've even had people look at me weird for my choice of pet - since I have a spec that recommends turtles for solo tanking, that's what I have. 99% of the time I see wolves or ravagers on everyone else. And I never hear anyone talking about running a dungeon for fun, it's always just the high-end ones for emblems or gear or something.

I mean, I've heard there's a handful of roleplayers but they seem to keep to themselves.

Honestly, best as I can describe it is that it's like everyone's playing this game like it's a job. Rather than for what it is: a game.

Lordaeron is gating content so that the content feels alive, which it fucking does. They gave people time to get to 60 and then released Outland and it was buzzing. World pvp, group quests, dungeon groups. It was amazing.

Depends on what you call server hopping. If you list all private servers that I have levelled to at least level 20 in, that'd probably be over 20, and I've had level capped or almost capped characters in at least a dozen (some of which I've returned to several times despite stopping to play earlier). I probably don't even remember all of them at this point. So in that sense, I guess you could say I've hopped at least two dozen times.

But if we're thinking of what I personally consider serious projects, I've only really played on Hellground and Theatre of Dreams and in both of the cases I beat the game with nothing I care about left unfinished (well, it the latter case it unfortunately was only 10-man, but 25-mans simply weren't an option).

Where can one see the population for Dalaran-wow's servers? I can't seem to find it anywhere.
Also, how good are they scripts-wise?

ive been playing on wowfreakz.ro and its pretty well scripted so far, im going to do my first raid and so far i am really impressed

Long time Wowfreakz player here.

Its actually not a bad server at all. Class mechanics are damn near AT quality and a lot of the pathing and LoS issues have been ironed out in the past few months.
Questing 1-60 is probably the least polished portion of the server but luckily they provide you with a few heirloom items and give you the option of 1-15x exp rates so you can just power through it. Some zones work better then others, your mileage may vary.

MoP content is working extremely well with the phasing systems in particular the best I've ever seen on a private serer. Raids have been fine tuned and tested to a level of quality comparable to Gamer District. As for PvP, the scene is quite active with arena and BGs popping at all hours of the day. I can't speak to it much as I stick mostly to PvE but I've heard good things from other people on the server.

All in all I really recommend checking out Wowfreakz its a really nice change of pace from WotLK and vanilla.

Shame, had a custom built world and FFA PvP and character permadeath too. Also all of the items had the stats taken out and had armor/dps normalized. You would gain tokens by playing that allowed you to request epic items to be sent to your character, but without them, you only had access to trash-uncommon items. On top of that, players could be anointed lore masters and could control NPCs and place game objects. Was a really cool system.

They were rebranded as Legacy. Lot's of server drama happened (mainly due to the shit staff. Half of them were special snowflakes who would fuck over players for their own personal ingame gain on their RP characters, and others that would do no work). The only cool Dev/GM was Steel, the rest were all faggots. Especially Madara Uchiha, while being a special snowflake, was also a pvp fag that sucked shit at pvp and resorted to using scripts and exploits to cheat (which would fuck over players because of perma death).

Meh, was still pretty fun while it lasted. I ended up joining a guild full of people who browsed here and some other generals (and some /v/ dwarf fortress threads) by pure coincedence.

We all made Dark Iron dwarves and basically conquered all of searing gorge, badlands, and the wetlands. We just went around killing people and hosting pvp events in the Ring of Law.

Sadly, drama occured and corecraft still isn't out yet so I returned to shitposting here and server hopping.

The only great part of playing on Molten was being able to exploit without fear of reprisal. Now that they developed a cheat engine that actually detects (some) of the tools Hitchhiker has it's really just a server with a severely dysfunctional staff and even worse coding development. They have done nothing to contribute to the improvement of the 3.3.5 core and have actually failed to provide updates that have been functioning on other servers like Dalaran, ToD, Eternal, etc. It's so ridiculous that people are still willingly playing on a server that has nothing to offer. It just goes to show how much like sheep the people who use this thread are.
