You know, I'm really digging the gameplay, but at the same time I do miss the "metal gear" feel. It just doesn't feel the same when snake is basically a silent protagonist and instead of having cutscenes and codec calls, you're just listening to one-way mission briefings and tapes.

Since the servers are under maintainence, you can't see the new weapons yet, but as someone who has developed every weapon up until now, after installing the update there are 64 "?" boxes for new items. Holy fucking shit.

Let's talk about Mother Base in MGSV. Ignoring the BIGGEST problem with it which is the lack of anything at all in Mother Base despite the Fox Engine's capabilities and such.. Personally I think the Mother Base mechanic did some things wrong and some things right.

The addition of Base Development and Support is pretty cool, but the removal of the Mess Hall is pretty bad in my opinion. I think having a 1000+ soldiers is going a bit overboard. The staff management? It's improved, definitely, but the removal of the comments is a sad touch. The Outer Ops is the worst sin the MGSV Mother Base has committed. You can't assign staff into different teams (you still can, but it's in a much worse way), you can't see who died and instead it's just a heartless statistic, no Pokemon-esque battles, no way to assign mechs or vehicles unless asked, etc.. etc.. Being able to add people aside from the Combat Unit is kinda nice too.

The GMP income is weird. It seems to be just a "Merc Deployment Income" and "Outer Ops Rewards", instead of the dynamic way of GMP income depending on your staff.

What irks me the most is adding so much Mother Base mechanics to your Idroid, I feel like it could have been separated. In PW, you had two different "moods" of playing, the "Infiltrator" mood when on missions and the "Boss" mood when you're in the Mother Base UI itself. In MGSV, you could do the Mother Base management virtually anywhere, and that kinda bothers me a bit. I don't know why. It's hard to explain. What do you guys think?

The Tool tips say it's either/or. For bigger bases it's both? Places like CBC have multiple power grids, so I figured there's multiple radio equipment sets too, I just can't find more than the one.

Some anons in the last thread were discussing if the sleeper agent fiasco between The Sorrow and The Boss somehow involved Ocelot being that sleeper agent.

It's very confusing but there weren't two sleeper agents there was only one. It was a agent within the Philosopher's network The Boss planted to receive progress updates on the Soviet's space program.

The Sorrow, being a KGB and Russian Philosopher agent effectively had The Boss's agent defect. Meaning that agent she placed, while in Soviet boarders, began to sending disinformation to the CIA claiming it was true. Apparently The Sorrow convinced him because the sleeper agent claimed he wasn't being paid enough by the CIA.

Likewise, The Boss mentioned she could have gotten the sleeper agent to cooperate if she held his family hostage (meaning probably a wife and child) but she refused because it was too similar too her situation with her child.

The sleeper agent is most certainly not in any way Ocelot.

However, when Ocelot was only 3 years old, The Sorrow joined the KGB willingly providing them with his skills, this also meant he was involved with the Russian Philosophers.

I think it's likely to assume that he provided his skills for something in return seeing as he was a valuable psychic that could have defected to the US if he wanted. The KGB must have offered him something; Ocelot being that something, would be a good guess I think.

There is nothing to say it couldn't have been the case.
