I really think that while simplyRO had good intentions with their "changes/balances" they are pretty bad ( making changes just because, nerfing weak lases, making some good skills even better, etc).

Now to my question, do you guys think a server with changes to the skills would fare better than yet another classicRO?

The problem in my eyes with the classic option is that people always hate how some skills/classes are better than others depending on the patch.

So which kind would you prefer to play in?

The server doesn't prioritize connections because they don't expect foreigners to play on it, so the ping is (at least from the damp middle of yurop) many times better than iRO.

It's almost as if they wanted to make it as easy as possible for players to test content for bugs. Their priority right now isn't to make a fun game, it's to make a game that doesn't crash at every instance and can hold thousands of people swinging weapons and clicking NPC's.

Not sure if you guys played in RO beta but the only job available was novice for a long time and nearly every mob in the game was jam packed into payon caves, monsters had almost no AI and the gear variety you had consisted of maybe 20 pieces of equipment.

Fast forward to the latest possible stage of beta and you still only had access to 1st jobs, there were practically no regen items that were available or affordable (they never adjusted that depite people screaming for it) so you had to spend 15 minutes sitting to regen and mob AI was still pretty dumb, caster mobs would run into you and try to donk you generally.

Don't get me wrong I don't have too much hope for ToS, but considering that I find RO to be the most enjoyable game ever and it grew from that abortion of a beta, then ToS can't be written off quite yet.

PS: Reading guides from 2003~5 is my guilty pleasure, I recall one recommending Assassin's dual wield quad hunter-fly daggers since then "you should never die".

Most people liked 1x rates in Korea for RO for instance whereas I think more would have liked higher rates in the west. Same for boss difficulty and whatnot, they need to balance with their respective communities in mind as different audiences.

Sounds almost racist when you put it in writing but the various groups really do absorb content differently, even down to how they'll report bugs or give feedback.

That actually makes me curious, I wonder in the early days of RO what build strategies and grinding spots Korea had in relation to us, with the diversity and size of RO there's a good chance we went years before our respective strategies leaked into one another.

That's because they've been testing for longer and have already given their feedback on the low-mid level content, I'd assume. If I'm right then the next western beta will have those 15x rates.

I'm the same, I've never enjoyed PvP in MMO's. It's literally the polar opposite of what I enjoy about them.

RO unfortunately isn't much of a game if you don't enjoy WoE and you get to max level. I've sustained my interest by just making slightly different character with stupid builds.

It depends on the target.

Small/Medium enemies will take more damage from a well-carded DD setup than they will from an equivalent katar, although against mediums it comes close and is substantially cheaper to make. Against large there's no contest, katar wins every time.

So if your target is something you autoattack dead, and not AoE, you'd simply use katars on large and daggers for anything else.
