On one hand, I really want to feel dat atmosphere again, and the optimist in me thinks Dontnod might learn from their mistake. On the other hand, I refuse to get sucked in again and have zero faith in Dontnod anymore to not hurt me again.

I think right now, rather than waiting for season 2, I'm holding out hope that other company who knows what they're doing will take inspiration from Dontnod's successes and lessons from their failures and make something of true quality.

Man, I think it would've been pretty cool if Chloe was kept as Native American or Asian, if either was their original intention. I am Asian, and although I would like to see the media as more inclusive of people from different backgrounds, I am perfectly fine with the representation in this game because I know Oregon.

My mom's best friend lives in nearby Eugene, Oregon. I recall when we visited her there, I looked at the class picture for her sons. Out of a class of around 200 people her sons were the only non white students. ( Although there were a couple students who were ethnically ambiguous.)

One of her sons acted like he was a poor black kid from the inner city, instead of an upper middle class asian kid from the suburbs. He dropped ebonics with every other word. I guess that's because he needed some way to represent how he felt as a minority or outsider.

PS: It really annoys me when TV shows and movies depict major international cities with diverse populations such as New York, LA, or San Francisco as homogeneous as Oregon. For me accuracy comes above all else.

I only have one friend who lives in Oregon who is of my race (Latina), and I don't think she sees too many people of the same race as her. It's a really white place. They could've done better, but they could've done a lot worse with the diversity level - and it seems to accurately reflect a place as racially homogeneous and white as Oregon.

Also, Oregon is part of America, which is a racially diverse country. Some parts and cities are a lot more racially homogeneous than others, but it's still a country that is more racially diverse than say, Japan. For example, I happen to live in a city where the population is almost entirely Latino, in a more racially diverse state. Most cities in states like Oregon or Idaho will be compromised of mostly white people. Some cities will have a predominantly black population, and some cities will have a mostly Asian population. Some cities will have a huge mix of these along with other races.

So comparing a state like Oregon to a country like Japan or a continent like Africa is just not logical.

Not that anon but I remember being behind about 10+ threads, I just gave up and moved on. In the end, nothing matters anymore. I feel depressed at those endings, but also angry, mostly at myself for being so hyped. It had so much potential and I was looking forward to see what they'd do with Nathan and Sean's supposed connection to the storm but they threw it out the window. I'm getting back into art and Breaking Bad. Been in a real depression the last few months and was fucking destroyed for the couple of weeks after release, but I think I'm finally starting to get back on my feet! I kind of alternate between wanting to take on the world, and wanting to crawl in bed and die, so I'm riding this high while it lasts.

Good thing my hobbies allow active engagement in fiction and expression, so I'm not stuck feeling tooooo dependant on other people's imaginations :) to move on and immerse myself in something new. Got a bit of a leg up in clawing myself out of this emotional landfill the devs stranded us in.

Try and find something to DO, anon! Revisit an old series that actually paid off by the end, study the craft of writing to contextualise your sorrow and babystep away from it onto new and better things, throw yourself into something completely separate from fiction that's too engaging to allow your mind to wander to it, whatever. That reminds me, there was once a pretty decent Pricefield story with a chubby Max. But they deleted it and replaced it with a more boring story that ended up angsty with mostly Marshfield that slowly turned to Pricefield. Idk what they were thinking.
