Do any of you have read Tolkien stuff? I read Silmarillion, Sons of Húrin and Unfinished Tales in the last couple of weeks and I still impressed with the stuff. It's without doubt the best fiction ever written, or at least in the fantasy-medieval scenario. The whole mythos is so good, holy shit.

It would be cool trying to explain it to Rin and read the books with her. I bet she would love some of the stories and I think she would fall in love with the whole Tolkien universe.

I had read one of the Hobbit books and seen the LoTR movies before reading. It's just that Hobbit and LoTR are just stories in the universe, they are to be enjoyed alone, but they don't show the full potential that Tolkien made that universe have. The creation of everything, the gods, the first elves and first humans, the stories of the dawn of time are all so great that I don't think that the stories of the Third Era (that is a couple of millenia after) can come close as far as epicness goes. I think different types of people could enjoy more just the Rings of Power stories and stuff, Tolkien said that there would be people that would just enjoy them and people that would want to know the universe more and it is so much more than that if you pick up Silmarillion.

I think reading Silmarillion first can be better than going to LoTR. There's almost no connection besides knowing the origins of some families, but the First Era is great.

There was some pretty good advice I heard about dreams too. It was something along the lines of not focusing about what the dream was about but instead focusing on the emotions experienced. Well the first dream had Lilly just showing up in a normal dream, I don't remember any particular emotions there.
The next had me comforting Hanako after she had a PTSD attack during a fire drill and I remember feeling really happy that I could be there and comfort her.

I guess I'll share my specific recollection of the second dream:
I was hanging out with Hanako (I think, the first part is a little fuzzy).The building we were in had a fire drill and we got separated. I got out and found her near the end of the queue of evacuees. I went up to her and she immediately took me into a hug and started crying. I ended up holding her and caressing her while she cried
I remember the feeling of her burn scar pretty vividly, it felt really rough and is kind of hard to describe.
I also remember feeling really happy I could be there for her and hold her. I found the dream to be pretty nice.
