It's already obvious that it was downed by something other than a mechanical failure, because if you look at the flightradar24 graph, it lost all of it's speed in a matter of a single minute, while the altitude was dropping rather slowly. Nope. The F-2 has better acceleration (until near red-line speeds), climb rate and maneuverability. The Hunter also has significantly worse energy retention. It will dump too much speed attempting to follow through a Sabre, or evade a attack, making it a brick. Having done some quick tests, the Meteor F8 accelerates faster than the Hunter.
