I'm gonna be honest guys, the lack of hardcore mode is really getting to me right now. My hype took a major blow. I just assumed something similar would be in the game.
What are the odds they'll patch something similar in or someone will make a mod, and how soon do you think it'll probably take?
vanilla hardcore mode in NV was average at best anyway because a real hardcore mode wasn't sought after for vanilla
it wasn't until PN and the Jsawyer redo that hardcore mode meant anything
>Happy family with robot butler
>get admitted to the nearby Vault because of special clauses
>they chuck you into a freezer with no explanation
>140 years later an evil faction kidnaps your child, kills your wife and kills everyone else except for you
>you survive and meet your robot butler again who has been alone for 200 years and is still in tiptop shape...albeit a little rusty
>entire main quest is finding your son who magically becomes the head of the same evil faction who took him and doesn't really care about you
I've been hearing two hours for what seems like forever
Please, does anyone have FO4 anons streams recorded? i missed the first 2. Can someone upload them to mega or something please?
I've been avoiding the general because of all the leaks, but do we have any solid info on how accurate the system requirements for PC actually are?
I'm really freaking out because i only have an old laptop to play this on and i only have a 1GB vram graphics card...
The whole design is completely different, literally the opposite. Ghouls look too fucking goofy in 3/4
>they believe you
hahahahahahhahah hope you did not pre order.
I'm guessing the Redcoat get-up is because he hates the Institute
Rules i'm gonna follow:
>no fast travel
>if a companion fall, i'll have to dismiss him for at least 30 in-game days. (may vary considering companion strenghts or unique traits)
>can't abuse the stealth system : can't steal, pick a lock, hack a terminal, kill if in a realistic situation the NPC would know for sure you did the larcin. Because you can trick the game (at least in FO3, NV) by crouching and just waiting for steal stuff even though a NPC is just in front of you.
>Eat and drink at least once a day
>sleep at least 6h by 24h (if no bed i'll just sleep on the ground == wait). you can transgress this when necessary (ie long mission that can be couple of days) in other words: have a realistic sleep schedule.
>when badly injured, recuperation time even after seeing a doctor will force me to stay in the area for a couple to 14 days.
>Eat no more than 8 meals a day == can't over eat in order to regain health points.
>only two guns and two small melee weapons
>only two rifles or large melee weapons
>only one extra change clothing
at some point i'm going to restrict the inventory with more accuracy, like ammo, caps, medicine, food, garbage, etc. For the beginning i'm going to use common sense and realism by answering questions like "can all this fit in my backpack ?" if not "what should be drop ?" and so on
I'll be forced to abandon a lot of stuff when i'm too far from my shelter, i think it'll be very intersting at least for me.
For situations not listed or when i don't know if i can or can't, i'll use Realism as a first rule.
Who is going to play a similar first playthrough ? And what are you going to do ?
iktfb, I specifically play RPGs like this to be immersed as much as possible. I loved how worrying about your next meal, staying hydrated, and getting rested added another layer to gameplay. Maybe not the thickest layer, but it's immersive all the same and it simply gives you more to play with.
So, has companion locations been leaked yet? I know where dogmeat, preston, piper, cods, strong, and valentine are. Anyone know where Cait or Curie are? what about Danse?
Ghouls in general are pretty disappointing, visually. From far away they just look like old people. Or tinier muties. Which is a little odd given how they've been redesigned with mechanics that make them closer to zombies. Were they afraid the look introduced in 3 would turn people off if they made it more photorealistic or something?
My nigga, immersion is the name of the game. I'm gonna tinker around with the game until I get a feel of how much carrying weight is necessary, then I'll start a new run with a strength restriction. I find no joy in being a walking armory and carrying around 5 shopping carts full of junk.
>if a companion fall, i'll have to dismiss him for at least 30 in-game days. (may vary considering companion strenghts or unique traits)
Considering how pants on head retarded the AI is, good luck with that.
This, if you don't have a card purchased within the last 6 months don't update, in fact, roll back to 347.02 because that's the last driver from before the Kepler gimping started. I did this recently and noticed a marked performance increase across all my games. The sabotage is real and I have to wonder how much hush money is being thrown around to keep the facts hidden
That's dumb, you're dumb. Fuck off if you're not an immersionbro. You're clearly not. Have fun looting everything, carrying every gun, and shooting up 20 stimpacks and eating your weight in food whenever a super mutant bludgeons you, faggot.
Yeah, i can run skyrim flawlessly, even with a good number of mods and a decent enb
Nope, i'm poor as shit, so i don't wanna risk wasting $60. if i have to pirate it just to test if she'll run first, so be it
Damn, i hope good low end details surface soon
heh, i'll never tell
>Still using my old ass HD5870
R9 380, 390 or GTX 970?
Why are you guys still on this general when you all know fallout 4 sucks?
Not even good burn victims. They're so... dry. Looking at the rest of the game the effects are certainly there but they didn't bother. No glossy pus. No identifying scars or welts or anything.
you get to choose if you kill your synth son or nuke bostonYa know what? i'm not even mad at you, i blame myself for staying here. I knew the chance to get spoiled grew higher every day, and i still stayed here....
> it's made of steel
WHEN WILL THE LIES END TODD?
Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required)
Intel Core i7 4790 3.6 GHz/AMD FX-9590 4.7 GHz or equivalent
8 GB RAM
30 GB free HDD space
NVIDIA GTX 780 3GB/AMD Radeon R9 290X 4GB or equivalent
mfw i notice "laptop"
...buy a tower
that is the only way you will have a happy ever after in this situation.
WHERE'S YOUR TRIGGERMAN?
You need food to sustain the settlement at least.
If you drop below a certain food level, I'm sure something bad happens to the settlement.
Oh and I watched the new trailer again, looks like more than Raiders can attack your settlements. Cool. Might make a laser / plasma turret farm on one just to see if anything can survive the plasma / laser barrage.
You know I think I know how you might've been kept alive
If the leader before Shaun wanted to keep Vault 111 people alive as "backup", it might not have been until Shaun took over that he made the decision to pull the plug on the Vault Dwellers as they were no longer needed for whatever plans.
Except, he knew that you were his parent and didn't pull the plug but didn't unfreeze you either. Maybe he wasn't sure if he wanted to wake you up, and maybe the Vault unfroze you without him realizing.
Unless you're playing in 4k, you're fine.
Where the fuck are people suddenly getting the idea that he's a synth? The only synth Shaun is the one that Kellogg has to keep him company. The real Shaun is the leader of the Institute, and he's an old man because he's not a synth.
I don't get this part, who repairs your settlement if you're not around or do attacks only occur if you're in your settlement?
Do settlers die during attacks or are all of them are essential?
>NPC's need food and water to live in your settlement
>Player doesn't need food or water
This is just as bad as your complaint against hardcore mode, it's the same issue only in reverse.
>spends three minutes walking left and right in sneak saving every 15 seconds
>sneaks up to enemy
>then hits vats
>misses all three shots
Just recently he dropped a gun after seeing a legendary weapon and then forgot to pick up the fucking legendary weapon
He just dropped the gun and walked off
Shaun ain't a synth, mate. But if you side with the Institute, then people who hate the Institute might leave you.
We know Hancock and Piper hate them, and maybe Valentine too. Danse probably does because he's BoS.
Codsworth and Dog will follow you forever because you're family,.
I wouldn't mind if Survival mode required eating or drinking. Only thing I won't miss is weapon condition. Really sucked the fun out of the game for me on 3, especially with heavy guns. And it didnt have that jury rig perk or repair kits like NV, and even worse scaled enemies. I did NOT want that happening again in 4.
Should run ultra.
minimum settings are as follows
Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required)
Intel Core i5-2300 2.8 GHz/AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.0 GHz or equivalent
8 GB RAM
30 GB free HDD space
NVIDIA GTX 550 Ti 2GB/AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB or equivalent
bethseda doing something different, played in with the high amount of unoptimized PC ports shat out from AAA companies the past few years crushes my hopes a little.
my 7970, I should have swapped that out a long time ago though. was supposed to either upgrade it or crossfire it.
i7 and 6970 guy here.
I play Skyrim maxed out with ENB, texture packs and a bunch of mods eating up my resources.
And GTAV on nearly max settings.
Why are the recommended specs so full of shit for games these days?
>Make a wizard tower deep in the middle of nowhere
>Put a fuck load of turrets there
>Install mods to increase the amount of attacks
>Watch from your roof as enemies try desperately to get past your traps
sell unnecessary upgrades for poorly optimized games that run well enough on current tech. We are seeing yet again another hardware plateau in PC gaming due to nvidia/intel monopoly, weak consoles, ambivalent devs towards pc gaming.
I liked weapons jamming occasionally though. I thought it was neat. I'd just mod in a weapon cleaning kit that's a weapon repair kit with infinite uses because the only thing that would really cause your gun to jam is getting dirty.
>even worse scaled enemies
I'm not sure why this is a bad thing. I like it when enemies scale up to close to your level. It makes the game a little more challenging. There was a skyrim mod that did this recently and it made skyrim so much better
Wait, so is Tommy playing on Normal difficulty or what? Legendaries can drop on Normal too?
My favorite is:
>Wont sell his junk for some fuckin raisin
>Has 20 pounds of drugs
>Takes ALL OF THE DRUGS
>To drop the 20 pounds
I bet he's addicted to mentats, alcohol, buffout, jet, psycho, med-x, rad-x, and whatever else the fuck FO4 has by now.
Also a mod that makes empty shells stay around forever, like Shell Rain from Fallout 3, something that adds accurate shell cases for each type of bullet and creates a unified framework of ammo types for mods to build off of like eXcaliber did, and the inevitable classic fallout weapons pack.
I want to be able to build things in settlements that aren't fucking made of rotted wood and rusted metal.
Also, somehow manage a vault instead like Fallout Shelter would be cool.
Triggermen who lived in it were commenting on it, and they're ghouls so they could be from it.
They're also hostile.
Well with weapon condition some of the enemies in Point Lookout could make a Gatling laser drop by 30% condition just trying to fucking kill them. The cost of repairs + ammo for heavy weapons in 3 was absurd due to this shit.
Weapon condition is great. Weapons don't last forever and you need to take care of them in order to maintain them. The idea is a post-apo world where there is no factory to shit tons of military materials everyday.
why is she steam cleaning the carpet with a Gatling laser?
I want silly and unreal animations. Blow a guy's head off, he reaches for his head, then ragdolls. I want that shit.
>Decent body mods
Not specifically nude or loli mods, just better meshes and textures.
I had fucking better see this happen.
> Cooler building materials. I want to build a Primative village, a replica of Tranquility Lane, a really modern/snazzy town with a cocktail lounge etc, a junk castle, a wild west ranch, and my own vault etc.
> Cool stuff underwater.
> Remakes of some of the FO3/NV locations but in FO4.
> More settlements and more interesting things in areas of the map that are boring on launch.
> DLC that is like Honest Hearts, Old World Blues, Dead Money, or the Pitt.
Proper carry weight + backpacks
Weapon and armor durability/repairing
No player voice + traditional dialogue box, this one better happen quick because the male voice is just so fucking wooden
The more I see and hear of Fallout 4...
The more I just want to go back to playing New Vegas instead.
I think it could have been done better. Weapon repair kits in NV should honestly have multiple uses going by how hard the materials were to acquire to make one.
But then Dead Money came out and those consoles basically shit out free kits and doctors bags.
NV wasnt nearly as bad either with the level scaling and jury rig made repairing things not as bad as 3, though. Except for Legionary assassins which somehow can take 7-8 AP .50 BMG rounds to their dog head hats and football helmets.
Yeah I've been saying this since yesterday. Why else would he still be using pipe pistols only. Then again when he did use his mic he sounded exactly like a stereotypical autistic person.
Only the older generation ones. The newer Synths look like pic-related, as we saw in anon's stream.
How hyped are the nips for fallout 4? Is Japan even big on the series?
>all of these people in hysterics over their specs
Have none of you been looking at system requirements for vidya released in the past five years? The "Recommended" section in all them is grade A bullshit, why would Fallout 4 be any different?
Why exactly does the Institute want to make Synths anyway?
For SCIENCE like Big MT, or do they want to take over the world with synths?
This is what I don't understand either.
In a moment of fridge logic, I was like "But one Nuke went off in FO3 if you decided to nuke Megaton, it didn't really fuck over the Tenpenny tower at all, although the shockwave certainly hit it, and it was CLOSER than the nuke that his Boston!"
That's probably exactly what he is.
Actually, I'm pretty sure that's just shitposting and he might not actually nuke anything. Our other leaker anon posted this last thread while everyone was watching the stream about what he got in the ending for the Institute. It might not have actually been him, though, so I dunno.
shaun/father makes you the new Director, announces hes dying, you help complete an aboveground reactor that will supply enough power for their work, take out the railroad and brotherhood, then bedridden shaun and you have a final farewell talk and he enters eternal sleep.
I fucking hate scaling enemies.
If I get my assignment kicked in an area maybe I should level up before going back. And once I'm late game I shouldn't have to worry about enemies in the Noob areas any more.
Also weapon condition sucks too.
I don't care if its a post apocalyptic world, no gun is going to do less damage after firing 100 rounds.
That's not how this works...
That's not how any of this works!
it's 30 fucking gb
my ssd only has 5gb left ;(
load times are dogshit
skyrim may have had load screens every 2 feet but at least they were instant
i saw one that was almost 30 seconds (leaving a house to return to the wasteland)
>Japan loves Fallout.
its the only chance they see the US getting bombed.
I bet during the nuke at the beginning of the game everyone of them will say something like "Eeeeeh, no so funny, eehhh ameriga pigg! this is foh Hi-Hosh-Ima!"
I just started playing again. I figure by the time I beat it Fallout 4 will either have dropped in price or at least have some good mods
>that new trailer
>INSTITUTE IS BAD
>BAD INSTITUTE, BAAAD
See this is why people liked NV. There was this important thing, Vegas and the Dam, and there were a bunch of grey groups wanting to control it.
Then you come to FO4 and you get this instead and its so blatantly obvious its going to be a black or white. Im getting some really bad Skyrim Imperials vs Stormcloaks vibes here.
>absolutely terrible graphics, even maxxed out on pc, everything looks like plastic and has a ugly sheen over it
>uniques aren't unique
>terrible voice acting
>terrible writing and dialog
>horrible AI, almost seems worse than fo3/nv/skyrim
>buggy as shit
>runs like complete ass on top of the line rigs
>cliche as fuck story that pretty much everybody predicted from the start
>dumbed down to fuck rpg elements
>animations that are nearly SWTOR tier
>no hardcore mode
>no real factions, everything is black and white
DETECTIVE GARRETT ON THE FUCKING CASE
GOD I AM SO HAPPY
Mercer Freys was voiced by Stephen Russel, AKA the voice of Garret.
Guys holy shit
holy shit guys
Institute quest titled "The replacement"
Any time a Jap gets uppity about Hiroshima and Nagasaki I remind them about Nanking and they stfu right quick.
I swear if I'm ever a millionaire I'm going to build a Nanking museum right fucking next to the Hiroshima museum.
I guess? But it still feels like a step back.
Yes, some groups were less grey than others, but there is still greyness in all of them.
This is just cut and dry two factions. One will be bad and one will be good. End of story.
>Are there any throwing weapons
no. we have a junk-launcher. maybe you can fill it with spear like things
>Also, can we keep playing after the main quest is completed?
Oh its blatantly obvious that the institute will turn out to be good, what im saying is its less like NV where we had this progressive story where you were continuously learning about the good and bad in all the different factions
The concept there is that the Great War was not a single bomb, but a MAD scenario that took place in 2 hours. You know how people say "we have enough nukes to bomb the world X times over"? Well, it's that, except with several countries getting in on the action, and also nearly a century from now (ergo MUCH more proliferation.)
Look, at its core it's a video game and the lore is for fun, but it is a difference scenario than just what happened to Hiroshima.
Tommy with his fucking bolt action pipe pistol
i honestly dont get it
There's pretty much no rhyme or reason to the way the bombs work in 3, it's just due to presentation purposes and gameplay constraints. Still, if that really was just the work of one bomb, the one seen in the intro, it means a nowhere place just outside of Boston was fucked even harder than DC. A direct hit to the White House didn't even obliterate the Mall. Kinda funny.
Legion aren't necessarily bad though, Caesars a conquerer. We only see how he is on the front lines, we never actually see how civilians are treated in areas he actually controls
>This is just cut and dry two factions. One will be bad and one will be good. End of story.
Except not when the Minutemen, Railroad, and Institute all have quests that involve you blowing up the Brotherhood's airship. And certain companions don't like it when you join the Brotherhood. That's not black and white.
Even the anon from last night was saying even though they start off as the evil boogeyman, they become much more after the big twist.
I mean main story factions, not talking about all the side stuff like BoS, minutemen ect.
NV had many main factions who are continuously tied into the main plot as well as all those side factions that came into and out of the plot at times.
Some may call us Synths; me, I call us "People."
What are some good general overhaul mods for Fallout 3 and New Vegas?
Just looking for some nice additions to general content, weapons, outfits, enemies and perhaps some visual tweaks etc
Or is there a good list of recommend mods I could sort through?
>they put dual 20 speed vibrating sybian attachments in the power armor so you can get plowed in both holes and cum your brains out while you're murderdeathkilling everything in your power armor
I'LL TAKE 20
>Kellogg is a bad guy
>You watch how he become the man he was, a fairly nuanced backstory with varying degrees of pity/sympathy despite him being an asshole
Kellogg and some of the new companions convinced me maybe Bethesda won't be all that bad with the writing.
>Tommy being Tommy
it also took him half an hour in the Four Leaf Plant to figure out you have to activate some shit in the right order. Like it was drawn on this stupid paper with the numbers 1 to 5.
>I mean main story factions, not talking about all the side stuff like BoS, minutemen ect.
There are at least 3 main story factions it looks like. BoS, Institute, and Railroad at the least. Just like NV excluding the Independent route, obviously. I think Bethesda actually learned a bit from Obsidian.
DOES ANYONE WHO HAS THE GAME KNOW WHERE TO FIND CAIT? I NEED ANOTHER BAD BITCH TO TRAVEL WITH!
Has anyone ever gotten to this part yet? Kinda wondering how it works.
I guess Shaun is like "Hey dad, I've got a surprise for you. For helping me do X I decided to give you a gift...its mom. As a synth. She's got all her memories back but she doesn't know she's a synth, so dont tell her!"
And then she becomes a follower
Even if the Institute are complete dicks I can see this being enough of a reason for the SS to side with them.
Yeah I think that was from NMC's texture pack
How long do you think it'll take for ranger armor to be ported or faithfully recreated in Fallout 4?
I went back and got fatigued about 17 hours in or so. I know every location on the map too well. I know all of the DLC too well. I have just played the game so much that even if I skip the Nipton U, I just end up at places I've been to so many times already.
There are nearly zero mods that have good content. Only Project Brazil, Autumn Leaves, and a few others actually have content. The rest are just tweaks. Some of which are great, but when you go to the same place for the 20th time, there isn't much left there to explore.
I might just have a ridiculously high amount of played hours in New Vegas.
i cannot get nexus mod manager to work
even uninstalling it and reinstalling it doesn't help
i get this when launching it
I wish the people posting all the fucking spoilers over the last few threads actually bothered to use the spoiler function that the site provides.
>Hey bro, we ganked your waifu, so here's a Realdoll that thinks it's your waifu
>PS: Don't tell it it's a robot. It won't like that.
Sounds like sufficient cause for a post-term abortion from here.
why does fallout 4 hate shotguns so much
I wish the person drawing that person bothered to use modern conventions and understanding of anatomy but we can't always get what we want I guess.
This was my experience doing TTW again in anticipation for 4. I did some shit around DC that I never bothered to in the past, like joining the slaves and PL, finally got around to Dunwitch, but once I reached Vegas I just couldn't do it again. I loved it, but I've done most of the shit in that game a minimum of two times, most of it much more. Cut to the Strip and just started killing everyone for Yes Man to see how badly I could ruin the Mojave and then gave up.
Probably should've tried that DUST mod.
Dust was great fun for like, 6 hours.
Once you get your start you realize just how godamn tedious everything is, its unbelievable.
And thats AFTER i said fuck it and became a raving lunatic cannibal.
The mod really needed more lore and more revamped locations to make it worth the grind
And less omnipotent tunnelers too
DUST was pretty fun. I kind of wish I didn't watch a playthrough because at a certain point I just wanted it to be over. On the other hand, if I didn't I'd probably be stuck doing bumfuck all. Give it a try though.
How do synths fit into the Fallout series' lore?
The seem too advanced, even in a world with robotic servants, laser rifles, and nuclear-powered car engines.
Like, aren't they still using magnetic tapes?
Maybe I should stop overthinking this and concentrate on having fun.
>inb4 there was a synth in 3
Shotguns are just not a good weapon type in general. They're uninteresting and lack efficacy at a range of 3+ meters.
Besides, why would you use anything other than a bladed baseball bat?
Why do people not use DXDIAG no more? is it taboo?
Meh somehow I can run witcher 3... don't know what settings I am using but I can run it fine.
I do plan to upgrade to a 970 and later on selling it for a DX12 ready GPU.
Except in real life where they have a greater effective range and are remarkably versatile due to having a large number of ammo types.
Speaking of ammo types -- Fallout 4 confirmed for not fucking having any, right?
honestly the most fun i had with dust was beating nipton and discovering how OP as balls spears were.
I actually got a flamethrower and had already picked up a fair amount of fuel for it off some guy by the cross outside goodsprings so i went to new vegas, turns out the OP as balls ghost people are literally invincible unless you do dead money
It was at that point i uninstalled the mod
this is a pretty good point, since miniaturization of computer chips really doesn't exist in Fallout the way we know it. Most "computers" you find are really just terminals all linked to one massive computer kept somewhere nearby because all their computers are the size of fucking ENIAC or some shit. Synths are pretty crazy lore-breaking when you think about it like that.
But it's fun so w/e
The Fallout world only had transistors for 10 years and integrated circuits for presumably even less, so synth-level miniaturization was possible but not commonly seen.
Pre-war Fallout world is basically on the cusp of the diamond age.
no ammo types, and no ACTUALLY SEEING YOUR FUCKING HOLSTERED WEAPON ON YOURSELF
At a certain point I just started disabling them. I don't mind running like a bitch from Tunnelers, but fuck Ghost People.
I didn't run LOOT properly so I still got to fast travel. I'm a huge bitch.
Damn, the OST is actually pretty fucking good. What's with everyone's obsession with le wacky radio when the game's got such an amazing ambient music in it.
Yeah but we had Synths as early as FO3.
Four years before NV took place IIRC. That said NV showed that shit like the platnium chip was pre war, so there might have been some research into micro chips and shit when the bombs fell they just weren't widely used.
>you can fail romance dialogue
>respectable amount of dialogue for each companion
>several factions that all have valid reasons for joining them
>you may screw over your relationship with or may be unable to get followers depending on your faction choice
>strong reason for the Sole Survivor to care about the main plot
not "this guy shot you get revenge"
Have Bethesda really changed their ways?
can you please get over holsters? that was the complaint 2 days ago, nobody cares about that anymore
now we're all complaining about how interesting the story seems to be turning out, and how that's really killing our cynical vibe
