That's basically just gear grind except the gear you dump and swap in/out are just builds or entire professions.

Spirits/pets actually have massive damage reductions against any attacks that specifically don't target them, and spirits are really good for support, so it's a decent option. Perfectly viable, in that "going solo" doesn't necessarily mean "you're going to be without any help without joining a group" like it does in a lot of games. Events and things like world bosses are group-oriented, but you don't need to join a party to get credit for participating. It's actually rather nice that way.

So is anyone else kind of shocked at just how many people praise this expansion and say it's amazing?

I mean it's not awful, i don't hate it, but this expansion is pretty fucking small. They charged a full expansion's price, yet all we really get is 3 new normal sized zones (dragon stand is not reallya zone, it's just a cutoff section of the other maps purely for a single event and nothing more). We got 1 new class which is actually pretty cool, we got masteries which is basically just "you're leveling but you're not", each class gets a few new traits/skills, we get gliding, eventually we'll get new legendaries, we got more story which was fucking short and clearly rushed, and then we got some WvW maps being remade.

That's really not much when you compare it to any expansion of any other MMO. I mean let's taking WoW's very first expansion for example, Burning Crusade. BC got 7 new maps, all as big, if not bigger than the jungle maps. It got 12 new dungeons, 2 new races, a new pvp map, a new pvp mode, 3 raids on launch with more added later, it got a flying system, an absolute fuckton of new armor and weapon skins, hundreds and hundreds of new quests, and every class got some new skills and traits.

It just feels like we got shafted pretty hard. I mean the lack of new armor/weapon skins is ridiculous. All we got is 2 new armor skins, the ley line and bladed, and really only 1 good set of weapon skins which is the auric skins. A full expansion price for a fraction of the content of any normal expansion in other games.

Not to mention a bunch of the new features of the expansion is shit that anet has already had sitting around for 2+ years. The nevermore staff was implemented in game files and looked the exact same 2 years ago, and each class getting new weapons like guardian bow and engineer hammer were already halfway done over 2 years ago, same with precursor crafting.

Almost every new enemy were implemented by a retard. The frog assholes just spam their stealth attack then one shot you from stealth, the mushrooms spam their charge and one shot jump you, rolling devils spam roll and rape you, smoke scales are just annoying by spamming their smoke field for 95% uptime of blind, and most of the chak are just beyond dumb. It's just so stupid.

Some enemies are okay if you fight them by yourself, but when you're doing events they just become a living nightmare, like the snipers. Fine by yourself, but doing an event? Have fun with 6 snipers all shooting people at the same time from off screen randomly one shotting everyone.

Some of the designers need to be shot in the head, none of these enemies work well when there's 20 of them spawned at once due to events.

First of all, WoW will never have an expansion like WotLK and BC ever again. Also, WoW is a subscription game so if it doesn't have bigger expansions there is no point in subbing.

There is also the new guild set and the mistward armor. This makes it 3 sets in total for light and medium armor. Heavy armor gets 4. There are also individual armor skins from the elite specs. There is a lack of armor, but there is more than you claim.

The whole fractal situation really bothers me. Ever since fractal's creation it's had many problems. Originally it was 3 random fractals and if you were i think an odd number you got a 4th boss fractal. The randomness was annoying because dredge and cliff fractals are twice as long as any other fractal and not worth the time/effort. This remained unchanged for so many months i can't even remember.

At the halfway point (the fractal update patch) they finally made the boss fractal on any number which was great, and they also added 3 extra fractals, two were just reused content but one of them was brand new so that's also cool. Except they still never touched dredge/cliffside, and they added two more boss fractals, one of which (mai trin) is a major pain in the ass compared to the other two, so the RNG factor of fractals became even more annoying. The absolute worst part of this update was they fucking NERFED THE REWARD SYSTEM. Those rare weapon skins just became practically non existent, good job.

This went on for many many more months until dredge fractal finally got fixed. Cliffside still untouched and a pain in the ass.

Then finally this expansion, they fix the whole fractal layout system, brilliant, it's about time. But wait, what's that? They nerfed the garbage rewards EVEN MORE? Are you kidding me? There's also not even a single new fractal added at all. Fractals are supposed to be something they want to focus on since they want to completely ditch dungeons forever, yet they still do this shit, it's just mind blowing.

the fun of eles weas always switching between attunements to get as many playstyles as possible.
But with Ele being squishier than ever, even in full-earth mode, and every ESpec excelling in at least one area, the Ele is less a Jack-of-all-trades and more a Master-of-none.
You just cant stack as much conditions as other clases by jumping between Earth and fire. And Lightning doesnt hit as hard critically as for example Reapers or Mesmers.
