Dominions is a fantasy turn-based strategy game created by two dudes. One of them is a teacher.
The game combines a simple presentation with an extremely wide array of strategic options, including over 2800 units, 800 spells and 300 magic items. Turns are resolved simultaneously, with players planning battles rather than directly controlling them.
It has simplistic graphics but is easily moddable and extremely deep.
Basically, it's an autist’s wet dream of a strategy game.

how useful is EA caelum rushing conjuration and going for the national summons + elemental royalty + tarrasque and go full meme mode using them as SCs?
Also which one is caelum's late game strategy other than thunder spam?
other than that, are tarrasque as good as they seem or are they just a noob trap? 25 nature gems for a SC chassis seems pretty good
Tarrasques are big meat shields, nothing more. They're hard to tug around because of MM1 and can be tricky to place for most armies due to their poison aura. There's better ways to spend nature gems, in short.
Tarrasques are a trap and don't come summoned as a commander
>not fatigue neutral
>shit map move
>poison cloud so mages can't buff it without poison res
Oh, thanks anon. you avoided me some time and disappointment.
Also speaking of that, I usually find myself not being able to use all of my gems other than forging vine shields and other magic items. Is there a thumb rule for which ones are the best ways to spend them?
They are expensive and have limited use but I wouldn't really call them a trap.
There's a place for one or two 200 hp units in any army. I'd rather get leviathans at half the price half a game earlier though.
>>poison cloud so mages can't buff it without poison res
Eh, if you are at conj 9 you can probably spare an extra 3 gems to give your mage a ring or just cast an army wide buff.
Harder to hit one-two units than a whole stack of them, especially under precision debuffs.
It's pretty neat to see a large stack of shit missing 90% of the shots trying to hit two units on the side of the map.
There's pretty much nothing in conj that caelum actually wants. You want fog warriors, wrathful skies, phantasmal army, storm, tstrike, in roughly reverse that order. You go conj largely to pick up exciting mages to cap thrones with for stealth birdman thronecap victory. Living Air isn't bad. Better than phantasmal army when you need a big pile of bullshit to slow enemies down with.
Oh yes, certainly. But the first few levels in a school are basically free. I mean any actual deep investment of RP in it. I keep forgetting that noobs might think that absolutist thinking can actually be applied to dom4 in any way.
Honestly, I don't know. I have one running for 10-something turns in one of my games, and I have absolutely no idea how effective it is. I mean, it kills 80 and wounds 160 guys per turn, but those may as well be longdeads or militia.
Now, maybe if you combine it with Foul Air...
>foul air, wraith of god, vengeful waters, and Dark skies
>becoming one of the most pain in the ass dominions possible especially if your a pop kill nation
I Know it's pretty much impossible in a real game but...
If you're just trying to shake up a full global roster, it's probably better than Dispel, and if you stumble upon being able to cast it, hey, why not
I mean, it's probably worth two golems
M8, Foul Air works for the whole map, and even against the player who cast it.
It's basically single wound ("wound" is some % of hitpoints, as far as I remember) = unit diseased.
So Djesse also hasn't put in his turn yet on your game, alright.
Why didn't you just make another post saying that? Nothing's being described. Do you even know what you're replying to or are you just trying to troll?
Someone said they're waiting on Abysia to do a turn in thenoobening game, and then someone tried to hijack the post saying it describes someone else in a completely different game, I guess. It doesn't look like there was anything said about anyone though, so I don't get it.
Some guy posted about someone being late with their turn.
Some other guy said it was actually about some other person.
Then the first guy came back and was like 'no, it's not'
Then the second guy was like 'lol no it was i'm right don'tlookatme'
And the first guy kept arguing, and the second guy kept trying to act like he was right
Basically what you'd expect of domg's autism. Two autistic people, one of whom is trying to be an edgy memelord, and the other who is not realizing this.
I like Forester Bob. It's funny, interesting, and had some decent art. Which I don't have any more. Could people post some up?
Compared to 'ANIME WAIFUS' and edgy memelording, it's vastly better. Actually dominions related, not too serious, funny.
I've been personally trying to find some good pictures to make some 'the elves are coming' memes. Like 'fuck, hide, the elves are coming' because that happens a lot in this game. Scary blood-mad glamour assholes all through your shit while you try desperately to get them off you.
You could edit the nazgul in the roadside scene of Fellowship of the ring to be a Vanjarl
I finally got to see Reincarnation in action.

Just a note for those editing the wiki, especially the gentleman editing the EA Agartha page: A blow-by-blow breakdown of every unit in a roster is not a "strategic overview." Take that to a guide.
Yeah, I just tried that, doesn't work.
Crashes on startup most of the time, can not find legal starting position. This is with thrones off. It's also crashed once saying something and something had a shared capital.
That was my first PBEM. I have fond memories of my stand against R'lyeh and Atlantis.
I'll try to go through and submit all the games I've been in. Off the top of my head I remember that I won an MA game called MAting Dance as Nazca right when they came out
(full name was really long, something like MAting Dance of some bird or something iirc)
and I won NewPBEMThatIsn'tNatGen as MA Pythium.
Here's an example. Ten player map with eleven provinces. Ten players on the map, yet a province right next to my capital is not used. When I end my turn it crashes giving the message "bc: p7 shares capital with p5"
They are all manually marked as start except for the center.
Land nations only, land provinces only.
It still does it, even when I set it to scenario.
Like it'll give two nations the same capital even though there's an available spot on the map.
I like the idea of having succint troop overviews in the strategy section, since the idea is that it'll explain what certain troops do a little better. I'd also recommend taking a look at that "How each nation changes through the ages" picture that keeps floating around here so you can make any fluff edits.
But generally, talk about the nations strengths, its weaknesses, and give an explanation for all relevant mechanics and/or special abilities. A Pan page should probably include at least a link to the awe and seduction pages, as well as mention the fact that your dominion summons bitches.
I use the EA Niefelheim page, for whatever its worth.
i had trouble placing 2 capitals even on Talis, which is a well-made 2 starting provinces map made for 1vs1.
the game seems to have a 20% chance to fuck up capital placement and place 2 in the same spot.
EA Agartha mostly done. Need to add a sentence or two explaining the scrying you can do with earth mages, as well as actually test out what BREAK THE SEAL really does. As well, we need to link to some of the many guides for it.
Am trying to leave the strategy overview as just an explanation of the various mechanics of the nation, with the numerous guides actually giving some opinion. The wiki page will bring up that Agarthans have Cold Blood, and ideally the guide will mention that a pretender should go heat 3.
Lemme know if you find anything wrong with it.
Maybe make a reference to their magic access in the strategic overview (Deep earth, shallow death/water/fire). Might also be worth mentioning that they have efficient national summons.
Honestly, this is a solid entry though. Great job.
>The wiki page will bring up that Agarthans have Cold Blood, and ideally the guide will mention that a pretender should go heat 3.
The wiki should mention that taking heat scales can mitigate the downsides of cold blood and thus can be considered an advisable scale. That's well within the realm of the sufficiently objective.
>as well as actually test out what BREAK THE SEAL really does
You get over a hundred Umbrals, (Or penumbrals, whichever the little guys are), darkness persists for a few turns, and the 3 god vessels appear in random places and then halfassedly wander towards capitals, though they don't necessarily choose the capital they're closest to
killing a God Vessel unleashes a Legion of Gods
What is the difference between amphibious and poor amphibian beyond the manuals "lol poor amphibians are worse underwater."
Does anyone have any actual stats?
That's a good thought. I'll throw in a blurb, and make the Cold Blooded page so there will be something more indepth about it.
Just checked, it's -3 attack and defense. It's hard to tell what the AP penalty is, since some of my units are showing base 11 reduced to 4, some are showing base 11 reduced to 5, and the base 6 soulless are reduced to 3. I think it's -6 capped at a minimum AP of 3, and that the ones reduced to 4 are being slowed by armor.
thanks for all yalls help.
had to add a couple of pages, but did mention some basic scales regarding cold blooded, sometihng about the Halls of the oracles, and found a guide on desura i linked to.
i said i'm sorry ;_;
i just wanted the nature gems, and the fucking dogs are even buttraping my bats too. Literally 7 attacks (one of them assassination attempt)
1. Is there anything I can summon to claim thrones? The map is pretty big and my pretender and prophet can't be everywhere.
2. The map is huge and I need to spread my dominion around. If my priests are weak and I have basically no dominion far from my home provinces is Enchanted Forests a good thing to cast?
>2. The map is huge and I need to spread my dominion around. If my priests are weak and I have basically no dominion far from my home provinces is Enchanted Forests a good thing to cast?
build lot of temples even in your most protect, inland provinces. hae an astral2 earth 2 mage craft lot of stone idols and one of them to each scout , moving them in provinces of enemy dominion bordering your dominion.
if you are a nation that is able to blood sacrifice you should do it massively. if not the best you can do is to have level 2/ priests preach in low dominion provinces. if stealthy they can preach in enemy provinces. preaching is not that powerful unless you have holy 3 priests, because it has very little chance to succeed in high friendly or enemy dominion, it's just an option to acelerate the work of your temples.
Enchanted Forests will give you a massive increase to dominion spread, but it's likely to piss off other players. Unless you're confident you can take on the world
or you're playing against AI, don't cast it.
Hey, that's a really neat idea, I forgot about those.
>preaching is not that powerful unless you have holy 3 priests, because it has very little chance to succeed in high friendly or enemy dominion
Friendly dominion doesn't affect success chance, preachers just can't increase dominion above a certain level.
I want to try and actually win with EA R'lyeh in a multiplayer game. Do you think this can be done? My reasoning is that since the national troops are really awful the only way to salvage the nation is to focus on summoning with a dedicated rainbow. The fighting portion of the army will have to be mostly summons. Thus the pretender should be an oldschool rainbow capable of casting a lot of different spells.
Since I finished doing my turns I went and collated the current standings:

The poll is still open, so if you haven't voted yet, go and throw in a vote for your favorite memes. Or don't, it's not like I can force you to.
Speaking of Asphodel, how would you play it ? I want to try it, but I'm not sure about going full scales and dominion to get money and lots of free chaff, or to get a bless for black centaurs, or something else. Especially since they start with a shitty army and no scout, just a minotaur and a dead guy.
Also, Man, whatever you are planning to do with those troops stationed across the sea, if it involves me, I suggest you not do. I have triple that number waiting for you if you should you decide to come into my domain.
Instead, I suggest you do what you said you would do some turns back and attack Pangaea. They've been losing army after army to me and are very open to an attack. Better act now before I eat them up completely and leave you nothing, not even scraps.
Pan and Ermor, two nations blessed with cheap and abundant mages.
Besides, pan brought 7 mages with 250 troops. 250 troops is like pan detachment size, so it's heavily overmaged.
I end up spending most of my gems on battle magic and mobility (winged shoes/CT) - if you still have gems, I think the Eagles and Corpse Constructs are the most economic uses, for sieges/blockers respectively.
Do not listen to Agarthan lies concerning bat province strength
Agartha wants to get rid of its ONLY CONTENDER for the ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY CAVE PROVINCES on the map
Half of the caves are controlled by Agartha already and we should probably remove them both
>UW expansion is easy and fine
>Every UW province has either 16 prot powerhouses, size 4 trolls or a fucking kraken
>SHARK TRIBE TRITONS with THREE attacks and ENRAGE
>No turns because Pan hired a druggie to assassinate amuys
>everyone memes about me being in a strong position
>literally 70% of my provinces have between 5 and 15 income
>some of them have 2 or less income, and i have a literal 0 income province
>unironically literally no magic sites found after searching with my D2 commander
>i'm in cold land: the land of no cold blooded people allowed
s-sure, I'm strong ;_;
the only thing i have are a lot of provinces, which have less than 1000 population and aren't suited for blood hunt at all.
by the way, how are you guys doing?
Fire and Astral.
Fire can boost RP and summon some really shitty shit.
Astral can do things super late game or be converted into useful gems, it has a handful of good summons, but it requires high level mages and/or crosspaths to be truly useful.
fire and water is right.
And it's not that they aren't useful, it's that they have limited uses.
Waters can make good things, but the list is short. Water bottles, brands and boosters is about it. With Vengeful waters being the other main use.
Fire has lanterns, fire in a jar. Fire helm are crappy boosters, but they are boosters. If you have things to cross the fire list the uses expand a lot in terms of construction though.
What does /domg/ see as the most useful gem type, the one that they can literally never have enough of?
Death for me, even on a low to no death nation I always crave more Death gems, there are just so many good uses.
earth, nature and death are probably top, though I'd put earth as the leader there.
Death becomes some you want a lot more of the more death you have access to, if you've only got death 1 with a little 2 you mainly want death gems to get more death power to start doing the death things. At higher death you can do so much.
Nature makes a few very good, useful and spamable items at just N2, and has couple of summons that are quite useful, but if you don't have thugs, need supply or the crosspaths it gives it's usefulness decreases.
Earth has a lot of different uses, I can't think of a nation that can use earth that doesn't want to be using all the earth gems it can get it's hands on.
Thistle maces to turn all your nature mages better.
Boots and amulets to give reinigorate to your mages.
Vine shields for all of your thugs.
Bags of wine to solve all of your supply problems.
Troll tribe can get you into earth or death if you haven't already gotten there.
The sleeper is a great commander.
If you can do it, lamia queens unlock more paths.
Faerie Court is good, Lamias are probably the best troop and the good globals are: gift of health, enchanted forests, wild hunt, gift of natures bounty.
They need to be overcast though, which is the only time saving gems is reasonable.
on this note. Air is funny in that at low air there isn't much use outside of quills, bows and winged boots.
But once you get a Air 4 you can consume air gems faster than you can earn them if the game isn't over. Boosters are things you want, trade winds, useful summons, staff of the storm, wind ride.
Gentlemen, I present you with the greatest clusterfuck to grace us since Flatus.
Twelve players, twenty five provinces. Max gold, max resources, max supplies. Very easy researching. Big armies, strong SC pretenders and NO SCALES predicted.
Don't bother aiming for late game. Don't bother aiming for mid game. Early is the name of the game.
P.S.: No underwater nations allowed.
lol that guy is hilarious, is it a good investment using him with a fish amulet to get him out of water and bless your troops? i find myself needing a divine blessing user with some nations
All right, ladies and gentlemen! Do you want to have a good time playing late-game Mictlan? Do you want to be a part of
>stabbed by a methhead
meme? Look no further!
I still can't contact Amuys after a week
a few weeks? How long has it been?after the incident, so we need a replacement for him.
All players have good positions, and nobody staled even once (except Amuys when he died). Mictlan has a global in place, and is going strong.
If you're interested, tell me your Steam name in the thread, or contact CoolStory.
Amuys, if you're here,
THEN WHY THE HELL ARE YOU NOT RESPONDING ON STEAM, YOU NIGGER.
it's on the goddamn manual.
anyway you should check out low level alteration/enchantment buffs.
Golems tend to be popular since they can't be targeted by cascades, duel, or the blood damage spells, have 0 encumbrance, and come with fire and poison res. They can teleport in and cast astral shield and ethereal on themselves. The downside is shatter does a number on them and they have shit combat stats.
Fire gives pheonix pyre, air gives mistform and cloud trapeze for mobility, nature gives personal regeneration. But really, an actual SC needs something that can kill an army, which limits you to stuff like soul vortex, firestorm, soul drain, and so on. Of course, a lot of these are hard to cast and knock the caster out, so getting a SC that works and won't die to any number of mages is pretty damn hard.
Now that you know all about SCs, come join SC pretender clusterfuck central!
Yeah, caster SCs are more focused on using spells like firestorm or elemental spam to kill enough to cause a rout or completely destroy an army.
Melee SCs tend to focus on being tanky enough to outlast the enemy and slowly destroy the enemy through attrition or turn limit
Nature has amazingly good and useful globals, excellent summons (lamias, faerie courts, troll tribes can carry the game alone), potent battle spells (howl, relief, swarm) and very easy to get gem gen.
Earth opens up instantly summoned armies (hidden in X), awesome buffs and battle spells (RoS, EQ) and decent globals.
And both have great forging too.
I managed to get a message back from him on steam saying that he hasn't been feeling well. He was also posted in the thread yesterday and the day before.
I think he's in a bad spot mentally for whatever reason, so getting a sub for him is probably for the best, but he might be able to do the admin transfer and so on.
You craft a skullstaff and black book of secrets (artifacts).
You give skullstaff to D2, summon mound fiend.
Give both to D3 mound fiend, now you've got D5.
Now you can summon a lich.
Lich with skullstaff and black book of secrets is capable of crafting skull face.
Well, congratulations, you've got D7 and that's pretty much all the death ever, including tartarian factory (possibly more than one).
Without artifact you are limited to D4 on skullstaffed mound fiends.
>But it's a good way to get into death
He's got D2 as base, he's not going to go higher than D4 with twiceborn without construction 8. (so, same as mound fiend)
You need a base D3 mage to twiceborn to get over the D5 hurdle and then artifacts anyway for maximum death like tarts.
I have luck three and have lost 4 provinces to events by turn 8, including losing a Melquart to a fuck-off invasion.
By the titty-fucking Nephilim this is a hard mode start.
>"Your God's a shithead, ours is better!"
>"No, why are you attacking me!"
How do these act in indie provinces? Will they shoot me? Will they fly and attack rear?
Anyone up for a Catacylsm mod game send in your pretenders here.
If we dont get a lot of people, I'll just change the map to something smaller.
is it the version where every other site gives 2 gems?
the point of the mod should be making use of gold recruit troop but at turn 20 you have 100 gems of every type, while your cap mage has full diversity random, and you can just drown your neighbour in standard summons. and probably everyone will be summoning the same set of efficient low level summons.
To add to this - he has a very, very strong position. He has had the throne of knowledge for most of the game, has an absurdly overcast Purgatory against three undead nations, and has already broken into blood.
Next month. Or possibly the 28th if we participate in the friendlies.
And looking at the roster poll it looks like Forester Bob will keep carrying the team, with support from Erf Snek and itdepends. >stabbed by a methhead might become a prominent new player though.
what the actual everloving fuck. lost another cap ring province to a 60 strong indie fucking huskarl event. I have no negative scales, strong dominion and luck fucking three.
I might AI soon because this is fucking ridiculous.
that sucks. keep going though, there is no point in quitting early.
this is primarily a game for scrubs to learn the game, so just relax and mess around (going AI is for bitches)
Fomoria, if you want our war to be over, pull your troops back this turn and I will do the same.
Then we'll talk about new borders.
Next time, if you really want to avoid war it is perhaps a good idea to abstain from invading provinces that belong to me without comment and ignoring any in-game messages until I'm elbow deep in your anus.

Question about Thug/SC's for LA Ragha.
Are any of their commanders/summons well suited for thugging (like the Griffon Rider), or should I just stick with Banes/Sleepers?
Secondly, are spentas worth decking out as SC's? Their stats seem *okay* (Awe 5, Invul 20 seems good), although I am not sure what items would go particularly well on them. I know that "it depends", but I am wanting to know if I am trying to polish a turd here and should use my gems elsewhere This is strictly endgame of course, not a core strategy just wondering if it is an option if the game gets to that point.
Thirdly, what do I spend my Fire Gems on? I always feel like I have a bunch sitting there doing nothing. Should I just use them to summon Flame Spirits more aggresively?
>Secondly, are spentas worth decking out as SC's?
You could do it, but they're not a great chassis for their price and they give a lot of magic paths/crosspaths you don't get natively.
Why does a thug need 23MR?
Earth ! thou has had thy warriors; even now,
One of the mightiest of the brave remains;
Unfading laurels circle round the brow,
Of England's champion on the belgian plains,
Napoleon too, deep in the memory reigns;
He to who thrones seemed footstools, made to fall
Before his thirst of empire; and the plains
But pathways for his legions; meanwhile all,
Save Albion's race, succumbed beneath the sword of Gaul.

Don't worry my Japanese goblin friend, I will make sure my skelleton legions do not stray onto your lands. Can't make the same promise about the drunken hordes of Russians though.
If you're interested in helping me deal with these "liberators" I'd be more than happy to share his land with you. You can even have his cap if you'd like.
I'm sorry if I don't find your walls of chaff as impressive as you do.
Beside, it was going to be war between us eventually, might as well kill you while there is still population in your provinces.
I'm pretty sure your pretenders away, but I've seen nothing 'radiating power' coming towards me.
So I'm suspecting your using something that bumps your research up from crap. So there could be some mages coming, and they could do some things now.
However my point stands. Better to war now than later. I shall see you in the field.
Since people are complaining about this thread being dead, how about I bump it with updated standings from the roster poll?

Oh, and does anyone want to see /domg/ participate in the friendlies? They're a few matches that happen before the group draw and they have no impact on the actual cup besides letting people see a few of the teams in action.
Then we may as well give up and give ourselves unto unreason.
There are like 3 other communities that play dominos.
Qt3 plays some games
Team liquid plays some gamed
The dominions IRC plays blitzes
Bay12 runs a few
But desura/dom3mods are your best bet
SA has their own hosting system so I have no clue how many games thwy run just that their meta is super aggressive.
Time to show up literally everywhere at once.
Codexer are honestly the most petty people on the internet. Yes, even more than Anons. I wouldn't trust them not to stale the moment things went wrong.
>Team liquid plays some gamed
They're a pretty small and insular community, but they do care about playing (if that makes sense). Less likely to stale than most.
>The dominions IRC plays blitzes
Not really. One guy tries constantly to get games going, but the /domg/ steam group is honestly the best place to find blitzes that I know of. For the most part, everyone there is just from Desura, so it's not really a distinct community.
>But desura/dom3mods are your best bet
This, honestly. Desura's still the most active, in spite of its impending demise.
if you got shit ton of excess fire gems I personally just summon more flame spirits and Fire snakes if I'm not using them to forget helmet of heroes or the staffs that give junkie commanders spells like fireball or combustion
I'm not kidding when I say I'm still intending on competing. If you want some bird pie to go with your lava cake then do it. If you want to be bird's only neighbor by yourself after fucking their ally, then that's an option too. They are soooooooo trustworthy and a fine neighbor to have.
But really, their main army is diminishing because of my raids, and they only have about 200 troops spread around their main land, so they are quite vulnerable.
Marignon, you just signed your own death warrant.
My research finishes in one turn. In two turns, that pretty little army of yours dies.
>high luck and order
>a fortress (and income boost) popus up in a province

Would have preferred if it happened somewhere in my vast unimporved wastes rather than right nest to an existing fort, but the price is right.
>TheNoobening new turn a couple hours ago
>Already everyone but three people turned in
>Not a single stale on turn 41
Maybe the people in this game should play in another game after this, clearly we've got a good player composition.
yes yes good goyim, burn them out faster so they can become grizzled veterans who stall like professionals
the only fair and impartial thing to do is to kill them both
that's not me, im not an anime memer. I wish i was one, but i'm not.
werewolves unironically sieged a fortress making me unable to recruit mage that turn, and also the first turn they attacked a bat who was building a fortress and that one was the last turn left to complete it.
Pretty memetastic, imo.
FUCK YOU NATURE I HATE YOU.
(not you, Pan-chan, you are cool)
it's funny because everybody hates me for that throne, but i ironically got memed on the hardest.
by the way if Stale Agartha is here, you should scout harder and attack independents with less units. You are overkilling guys with your 80+ army with like 10 great olms or whatever they are called, that lowers your expanding speed.
I know, I need to get more commanders out so I can divide some of those stacks. But I need big ones like that to have the critical mass necessary to take throne provinces easily.
Only if there's a temple, though. And Agartha's only priests need a lab and a fort as well as a temple, and each olm is 50g. And olms are only really rapey at substantially more gold investment than the enemy has. And caves have shit gold income. Managing the Agarthan economy is very frustrating.
they prioritize high HP units, so if you can get stuff like ogre chaff, they'll eat all the mindblasts while your real units kill stuff.
Massed archers are good vs Agartha in general as well (especially if you can cast the buffs for them, of course) and olms don't help fight against that, since they're 5 times as expensive as the archers and can only tag 1 at a time
it's never too late to be anime
on a semi-related note 1st year of game I'm in and someone just took the beast throne, I'm not ready for the pain
You only need 1 priest to build temples. Just have him roam around and build them. Also you should have prioritized getting above ground and building forts in you higher income provinces since that gives them a bonus on top of the admin bonus.
>Just have him roam around and build them
>my whole land is a maze of caverns in rows with only two or three connections each
Managing Agarthan logistics is even more frustrating than Agarthan economy.
Stop running Abysia, you're just delaying the inevitable.
So that's how it's going to be, huh?
I guess you've just got at thing for dead Greeks, but I think you've miscalculated.
this is why you can't trust ghosts or elves, only bats
What games does /domg/ play whilst waiting for people to do their
That sounds nice and all but then things like this happen. Sounds very possible if you play your cards right, but marauders are a fucking pain to deal with without guns. It;s my first time playing through and I really got sucked in after a few hours of playing it despite parts of the game being barely functional.
the hardest sequence is the one where the hunchback and his firebombers hole up near the abottoir. Haven't gotten up to it in the HD remake yet but it's the most tempting place to use a gun in the scalpel only playthrough. Marauders can be beaten, but they are much more efficient to shoot; however you can typically avoid most such enemies. Looters especially, after the ones you have to encounter doing quests, only show up in locked districts.
I still haven't gotten around to HD replay yet, I had some fun time as bachelor back in da day, enjoying the OST now as we speak
Thoughts? My pretender is primarily there for late game Astral presence, being a forge slut (Air, Earth, and Astral are a pretty potent forging combination), and having painless access to my Yazad/Spenta half of my national summons. The last one is significant, since it is otherwise a huge pain in the ass since natively you would have to rely on getting a 40 gem summon with a 1/4th chance for S3.
Alternatives: I could replace Astral with Nature (Love and War) which will, essentially, give my nation very strong access to every path (Nature has some great summons), but my Astral presence will be significantly weaker.
Thoughts? (I have also tried W9Ex and N9Ex bless for a sacred strategy, which works pretty well).
One of the cool things about Ragha is that your national mages can get your evil summons, unlike Caelum which needs the pretender for that. The fact that you don't need to go fire/death on your pretender to get them (and they really are some great mage summons) is pretty liberating.
Since you're going Heat Ragha, I'd go with the water bless that you mentioned. Zhayeden are amazing murder machines. The good Yazad/Spenta are fine, but costly in pearls, so there's no need to devote your pretender to getting them.
F9 heat ragha seems way better in my testing and theorycrafting. F9 gives you magic weapons ap damage and causes your four attacks to create an even wider gap between the griffins attack and the opponents defence if that is an issue, elves for example or even high end thugs.
Are you bored? Are you in a tonne of games, yet are you still craving more?

Small as fuck map, twelve players, all out global combat by turn three, little time needed to plan shit out yet huge satisfaction from watching big armies and awake SC pretenders duking it out.
It's eat or be eaten, kill or be killed, wreck or get wrecked, be gud or git gud.
Am I the only one who outright refuses to play a nation which needs to field mages in numbers? If you only need a few mages to cast big buffs then when the lategame comes around you can protect them from turn 1 EQs/RoSs by forging a few armor suits. If you rely on communions you're fucked.
Do not underestimate my THIRST for magic.
Also, what's a good example of a nation that brings few high-tier casters?
