Jason's story is basically a story of "Don't fuck with the God's favor". He had almost everything handed to him because Hera favored him, but one of the side-effects is that Aphrodite curses Medea to fall in love with him so that he could get through Colchis. The result is Medea is madly in love with him to the point of committing atrocities for his sake, whereas Jason never asked for the relationship (And just wants to become king of Iolcos).

Inevitably Jason gets home, but gets chased out of his kingdom due to Medea's shit and so he gets engaged to someone else to recoup his kingdom. Medea then kills the children they had together and fucks off after killing Jason's new wife, while Jason is cursed by Hera for breaking his promise. And like most people probably know he dies lonely and unhappy, crushed while sleeping by the wreckage of the rotting Argo when it falls onto him.
