I recently started playing this game with some friends who have been playing for awhile. They're around the mid-60's and have lots of tools and whatnot for me to use as I level up. Most importantly they have around level 140 direwolves that I can take out and kill shit really easily. So did I miss out on half the fun of building wooden houses, then stone, and eventually getting to metal while also having to hunt on my own? Or did I skip a bunch of shit just to get to the more fun stuff?

Im on a server with a big ass tribe and we dominate it. Ive made a gigantic citadel out of steel mostly alone now, however if you have a quetz and one other friend you can get thousands of ingots in no time at all.

Generally when I come to these threads its full of solo players or very inexperienced ones which is fine and all. But the devs need to increase offense currently and that is what they are doing. If you have difficulty defending its because another group of people have invested more time than you cumulatively and what you stand to lose rarely matters in comparison.

There are hundreds of places you can build a base that are not assailable under any circumstance. Currently the biggest issue in PvP is getting shot off of a dino while tanking turret shots. A high end tribe can have 40+ turrets and half set to target player This means you need to be in a bronto to tank the shots. These bases cannot be attacked. Now if a dino were to lose its rider and be enraged with 200k hp its suddenly actually possible to take those bases.

Also, here's a little update. We have a flyer now and turned a raft into a mobile base - so our adventures have become more safe and comfy. We also have a decoy base: IF someone decides to fuck us for whatever reason they can destroy that thing and feel satisfied - while we use that to fake our own death when in reality, we're still underground.

Also I would not be surprised if we might be able to create a second way into the hidden base. That way bugfixes won't stop us. However I doubt they will fix it anytime soon - they don't care about breaking their game a bit, just look at how many people are being raped by the new dino.

I tested the threshold for the rage meter. This thing has a hair trigger. I ran it off a small cliff, probably just a little bigger than its height and it gave a full rage bar and knocked me off and ate me. Damage over time is fine, but too much damage at once pisses it off. My suggestion is to dismount it, bring out the spyglass and tell it to attack the enemy.

I already had water pipes coming from the swamp. I thought if I connected the reservoir to the tap it would fill up and irrigate nearby crops in a bigger radius than just the tap.

With how they worded it this made sense to me, but of course the way it actually works makes more sense.

So the ocean is pretty much obselte now that oil spawns on land in the snow. Even pearls spawn there, the only reason you need to go underwater is for large amounts of pearls

The round and white small boulders around rivers and lakes give a higher chance of metal than regular boulders do. Once you have... 14 pieces of metal ore that can make you a smithy and a metal pickaxe+1 repair, which can really get you started.

- The weapon being used to knock them out
- The damage % of the weapon

Shot per shot the "best" weapon for knocking things out now is a longneck with tranquilizer rounds, but for all around utility and ammunition costs the best would be the crossbow.

As far as strictly fighting other dinos, devs have time and again said that their focus for a "hard counter" to dinos will always be other dinos. In that respect the longneck's not that great for taking down dinos. However, with a scope attachment or mad skills, you can just use a longneck to snipe pilots off of their mounts provided that your rifle's damage modifiers are strong enough to do so.
