Multi's are only good against smaller ships, unless you do like 5x multicannon setup, but then in that case why not just do a superior 5x pulse?

Not really, however the powerplant changes severely nerfed cannons. I used to run a vulture with 1 beam and 1 cannon. The cannon could snipe powerplants in just a few hits. But now cannons are pretty much useless compared to any other weapon since you have to work through the hull anyway.

I've had a few fights against other Cobras/Vipers that were using railguns.

If you're gud and really work the inertial thrust with FA off, they'll have a hard time hitting you while you can plink them full of multicannon rounds.

But yeah, like the other anon said, don't use them against bigger ships unless you know you can maneuver out of getting hit at all times, and can keep that up for a few minutes.

Dev confirmed you get it by "doing work" for the faction and that includes bounties and bulletin board missions.

You used to have to move on once you hit "allied" but you can now hang out in one system and you'll keep getting rep for the major faction.
