Went from Silver to Gold the first day of the season with this deck, 0 losses. Sarlac is some broken shit, especially if i consuming rebirth him and suddenly there are 4 sarlacs on field.
What should my next purchase be?
I need advice on what to craft next . Im still rather new and run Abyssian Wraith and Magmar * Former much more then latter but plan to do it once abyssian is completed deckwise* I already have 1 vorpal and 1 spectral, but should i craft spectrals to 3 ,1st sarlac ,1st locke or get 3 makantor warbeasts ? I have 1050 spirit currently

I'm used to real card games where you'd plop your entire hand down on the table after you won to show your opponent just how fucked they actually were.
And if you lost you'd show a couple of the top cards of your deck and have a laugh at how far away a key card was.
Sarlac at 3 would really just kill the card for everyone who isn't Abyssian. At that point you might as well make it a faction card. I don't know how to fix Sarlac without making him totally shit or just destroying all the Abyssian cards that make him bullshit.
Maybe just give him to some other faction but that's not the most elegant of solutions.

I think Sarlac is a nice addition to a Abyssian or Vetruvian squad but I don't think you should craft it unless you've got every legendary you might need for your favorite faction.

What they really need is more worthwhile effects that actually use the Vespyr archetype. Glacial Elemental is the only good Vespyr-related ability right now.

Pandora is too unreliable. I've face her a couple time and I generally had no issue dispelling/removing her with a spell.
Never faced Red Synja, looks pretty good but you'll probably get fucked if you rely to much on random damages.
Archon's got the best 6-drop stats and fuck up Songay's combodecks.
This is something I've noticed in this game. Not just legendary, lot of neutral cards in general just get outclassed by faction cards. Seems like the only neutrals I tend to run are lady Locke and healing mystic. Other wise the factions have cards for everything else.

Some class cards have really shitty stat allocation or abilities compared to neutrals, Suntide Maiden is worse than Twilight Sorcerer in literally every Lyonar deck even though sorcerer is a neutral.
Not entirely true. Specifically because the maiden interacts with heal synergy units whereas its a gamble with twilight sorcerer unless youve managed to only use one spell
Its just that maiden is so much more prone to removal compared to sorcerer because his effect is already triggered
One more mana can make a world of difference. A better direct comparison can be made with the 6-drop golem. Same stat numbers, 7/9 and an 8/8. For the Archon you get a decent effect, for the golem you get golem synergy.

I've been playing songay but their playstyle just doesn't fit with me. Also, I have some luck with drops on this game, my only lego drops were 2 sarlacs and they seem useless with every faction except abyssian, which I hate.

Keeps sticky, consistent targets for Third Wish and his death powers up your Portal Guardians.
I've won too many games because of Sarlac staying on the board long enough for me to get Third Wishes up.
He works similarly in Vanar with Razorbacks. And he can become a terror with Mark of Solitude.

Well I never said it was cheap to make, just that Sarlac is in other factions. Hell, now that most Magmars have stopped running Natural Selection it's becoming a card they field too.
Midrange tempo deck that demolishes aggro shitters. Loses pretty easily to control as it lacks a way to remove big threats beyond Martyrdom which will often be too big of a health swing in the late game when used on a big threat to really recover from.
I'm still upset I didn't get to play last week (and if it's the same time tomorrow then I'll just never be able to join in) so I'll play a game. I'm droopy.
I'm pretty shit and only started playing yesterday so that's probably why, guess I just need to get good.
Also I've been having fun with songhai but I'm guessing they're less viable the higher up the ladder you go, from what I gather from these threads. Is there a tier list or anything similar?
And is it possible to get by without paying anything? Or am I likely to start getting destroyed at a certain point.

I'd put Songhai right up there in bullshit levels with Abyssian. I'm so thankful healonar is around keeping them in check or else the ladder would be 90% Songhai aggro.

There are two types of Songhai, Lantern Fox-based and spell-based. The spell-based is pretty bad at ranks 0-5, but Lantern Fox is always good.
A tier list for ladder just depends on what kinds of decks are popular at any given moment, but control magmar, lantern fox songhai, ramp/big abyssian, and combo vetruvian are at the top.
I like dervishes and bunker, even if it's pretty shitty.
You basically need lantern foxes. Buff them and win in one turn. Surviving until then is the hard part, but it's easy to climb to at least gold like this.
theres a cheaper variant with 1 less legendary made by some guy on the forums if you want to try that instead

I assume you're talking about obelisks? No they're really not core. Lots of people play them but they're not even close to being in every top Vet deck. Pretty sure the majority /doesn't/ run them, actually.
When everyone's running 3-6 dispels you can't be having half your deck list being completely invalidated from a dispel. Especially not when Abyssian is so popular and can just lure them away.
Magmar's probably second most played and Makators love that shit too. Not to mention Plasma Storm already crippling Vet creatures enough as it is.
At least you can buff and re-activate Portal Guardians but an obelysk becomes completely dead. You're better off with creatures who just plain carry value on their own.
They work well in shitter ranks when people either don't have or don't run dispels the same way Shadow Watcher does. After that they become less and less appealing to field.

I've been setting up wins from Aspect of the Mountains since people ignore my 2/1 guys and walls. Are people not that exposed to Vanar? Last season got to 5 simply because players just focused down my Glacials.
I'm aware they're not the best for the top tier play, but I enjoy what they do and I'm curious to see where it goes by the end of the year since they plan to add more cards then or so for factions.

Martyrdom on a Portal Guardian is a massive health swing. Vetruvian is a late-game deck. How exactly are you losing to Healonar?
3 Tempest to deal with a single 3 drop is also some hilarious board advantage.
Third Wishes are dead in hand too often, I've found. A card that I'm swapping out 90% of the time isn't a card I want to run at 3. 1 is too few as well.
Wind Runner is a new addition to replace the Lady Lockes. Still testing him but overall I'm really happy with him. I think I'll be keeping him. I don't really wanna blow 3k dust on Murkbloods when last time I tested him I didn't like it.
Been playing for about a week, total scrub. Liking Magmar and it's what I've been putting most of my resources towards.
Anybody have any tips? I feel like I might have too many spells but I really don't know. Trying to steer away from overbuffing/grow units because they inevitably just get removed.
Haven't gotten my hands on plasma storm yet but i definitely intend to. What's wrong with dampening? It seems nice to toss onto an enemy I need to deal with but don't have removal/hits too hard to eat counterattacks.

Yes, and drop elders too. Those fuckers are worth every single mana spent on them and a general annoyance.
Dampening wave is not bad if you are a begginer, so it's decent for now. Later on, you will never other spells, like everything egg related and plasma storms, and you can't have too many spells as magmar. Mana burn is also needed, you really need dispels in this game
Also, warbeast. This is a must in every single magmar deck, and everyone hates them for it. Get them.

He's just a dumbass. Dampening wave is fine. Putting 1 or 2 could save your ass or your minion's ass. And it cost 0 mana.
More silithars. Three generations of them from the baby to elder silithar. Makantor beast is a must. You are in fact still lack a lot of spells. Get natural selection, 2 should be fine. Fortitude should be 3 since it's really good. Plasma storm put 2 of them. Put 2 mana burn in your decks. And you lack claw artefacts, it's pretty good against obelysk spam vetruvian.
You have all those spells mentioned, you should reduce the number of dispel and displacing dogs. Armadillo is shit, you can replace with silithar. Phalanxar is very situational, more often it's dead before you can deal anything significant so keep at 1 or remove completely. Twilight sorcerer isn't magmar cup of tea, remove it. First sword is shit, by the time it make significant presence you are already winning. The 7 mana 2/15 provoke isn't that great either,
Use fortitude to bait or when your minion's active. Using them because you just want to buff your minion is just dumb and would lead to quick removal and wasted your fortitude.
Thanks for the help guys. Like I said no plasma storm yet, and no elders. Threw in both my warbeasts and a few more spells/artifacts. Dropped the armadillos and whistling blade, though I might end up putting some more provoke in there somewhere since at the moment I lack AoE damage to deal with all the abbysian i'm slogging through and provoke helps.
You don't need provoke or get the armadillo instead and buff it since it will get dispel anyway.
Diretide frenzy is your key to aoe. Remove the angel minion thingy, get the 1 mana flying unit. It's decent on magmar if you buff it when it's active. Otherwise craft plasma storm, it's cheap.
I like 0.49.0 nerfs were just quick fixes since open beta on started a week prior so they wanted some stability for new players before the big changes roll in this month.

Vanar really need a card that can allow them to somehow activate Infiltrate on either side. A 1 turn flip for example. I think that'd almost put them on par with other factions

New player here, trying to settle on a faction. So far the only games I've played have been with abyssian, and I do like the idea of summoning loads of shit and getting bonuses from deaths. However, I also liked playing blue in MTG, and Vanar seems the most similar to that. Are there any fatal flaws with Vanar I should be aware of? Are they generally considered underpowered/balanced/OP?
You're right about Vanar, with the other factions experienced players have to preempt tide turning or winning cards and combos. Against a vanar, its just the really basic "hit the face until shes dead and dont get hit in the face" because they dont have any distinctly notable threats.
When a vanar beats me, they couldve beaten me fighting as hard with a different faction; theres no distinct vanar style of victory, the faction dynamic seems torn between walls and infiltrate and vespyrs with none of the concepts really working well in a satisfying way
The concept was probably 'give them walls so that they can lock the enemy on their side and gangrape them with infiltrate value', with vespyr synergy looking like an afterthought
It doesn't really work out like that in practice though

That they would. I was thinking they could just revamp the entire faction and make it have a special tribal keyword. For instance, the Fenrir's deathwish could only trigger on a turn in which the owner has cast a Vanar spell or summoned a Vanar minion for instance. It'd be a faction focused more on fierce aggression and keeping the opponent locked down
A really really fast abyssian burn deck could potentially roll with that ratio if the 14 creatures you got are rush and aoe board clear. I dont think they are, so you should change it.
You can test how often your deck produces shitty hands by playing sandbox games against your other decks/ starter decks. Bad draws are the metastatic leukemia of this game that will allow the opponents cancer to flood your body
Hmmm so like songhai but with creature synergy instead of spells. Seems like a good way to make vanar special, where a strong vanar player would be dropping 2-4 faction creatures a turn to boost the ones on the board with a significant tempo advantage over other factions
I've actually been getting pretty shitty hands, even after replacing everything, both in regular ladder matchs and when playing with a friend. Either I get incredibly costly shit like shadow novas and reavers or buffing spells for minions I don't have
It's merely a thought of course. The problem with infiltrate is that minions with it have to be stronger than their cost while it's up, but slightly weaker without Infiltrate active, and balancing that is pretty much impossible. It's also a bit silly that there's almost as little Vespyr synergy as there is Arcanyst synergy
If you think that card is good, you don't understand what makes cards good.
Even with the combo of that -> Spirit of the Wild you still need to already have an advantageous board to actually win then and there for your 9 mana.
And outside of a combo, it's basically just a waste of a play.
though the spot Vanar is now balance-wise, I don't think it'd do too much harm to buff up the infiltration bonuses a little to make it a genuine threat. With the 2 infiltrate minions that actually are played often, Snowchaser and Crystal Cloaker, they're either annoying little value plinks (or Glacial fuel), or just brought to same level as more consistent cards from other factions.
Frosthorn Rhyno is the only minion to become a genuine threat while infiltrated, and outside it, it's a slightly stronger Thorn Needler.
Wolfraven desperately needs something else with his +3 attack, and I don't think stacking up attack further would help it.

most of the neutrals are filler for cards I need to get.
Just few peak hours. For my time zone I find 6pm-10pm rather active, but before and after I'll keep playing the same four people.
What sucks is I work 2pm-10pm on weekdays, so I miss a lot of the peak play times.
Yeah, an 8 mana 4 DIFFERENT cards combo. that deals 4 damage to the general.
Meanwhile Vet has a 7 mana 2 card combo that only requires a missplaced minion. That doesn't even compare.
Well actually Third Wish requires three minions to activate., so one misplaced minion on your side won't be able to use Third Wish.
Not to mention Vet is way behind in term of removal or instant damages spells compared to Magmar.

This starting deck is super fun.
I love this game, but it's obviously really dead. These threads are slow as shit, and from all the shitposting about every faction you can tell it's a frustrating game for noobs. They get wrecked by some guy with legendaries in a game, and complain about balance before dropping the game.
Been playing Vanar since I started a couple weeks ago, once you get more stuff for it they become pretty fun. The issue is against the top tier stuff (and specifically more developed Magmar decks) you tend to need perfect draws/plays to keep up since you stuff starts weak or is situationally good.
Though Aspect spells (Fox, Drake, and Mountain) tend to catch people off guard in hilarious ways.

I don't think you understand the combo. You trigger kage Lightning on the illusions with either the artifact that does 1 damage/four winds magi for an infinite damage combo. It doesn't seem too far off. How does the illusions attacking the enemy general make any sense?

The usefulness of legos is generally determined by whether or not their effect activates when they drop onto the table. Nemesis suffers in that aspect, but if it survives more than 1 turn, it's a pretty great card overall. I'd say Zurael is a better bet for Vanar though

IMO the cheapest one is lantern foxes backstabing songgay. You mostly use your factin troops, it might cost around 2000 dust.
100 gold for an orb. Look up the solutions to the Proving Grounds challenges for quick gold. FWotD and every 2 wins after that also grant gold. There are hidden quests like leveling each faction to 11 with a free orb each time you do it.
