edition

NOTE: The general consensus at /kspg/ is that you should torrent the game rather than purchasing it. The developer Squad is incompetent, extremely mismanaged, and is very resistant to all feedback or criticism. Furthermore, despite being poorly made, lacking a proper development team, years of unfixed bugs, and being in need of a serious physics and optimization overhaul, Squad has gone ahead and decided that they're just adding several new features, and have jumped straight to version 1.0 without proper balancing and bugfixing just to boost sales. With their performance to date, it's clear they do not deserve your shekels. If and when Squad begins developing KSP like the competent adults they like to play at being and stops acting abusively and manipulatively towards their community, we'll remove the above disclaimer. Until then, we as a community have decided it stays.

Understand that we here at /kspg/ don't hate KSP. We've simply grown bitter over the way Squad has dragged such a promising title into the mud, and hope that our input might help to keep this sinking ship afloat a bit longer. However, we cannot in good conscience recommend buying this game to anyone.

That is just a shitty explanation of a PID controller. When the guy says "where it isn't", he is explaining the error of the PID. The controller tries to minimize the error and therefore figures out where it is, from where it isn't (the error). That video tries to explain it to the layman, but fails horribly by making things even more vague than what it is.

Here is a decent video that explains what a PID controller is:

do you have any math or programming background? if you do you can just read the wiki.

if not, think of it this way. you have a sentry turret that is supported by a bearing and a motor. the motor allows it to be turned to face any direction. if a target is seen by a sensor, you'd need to turn the gun to face the target.

under a very basic control system, you'd determine the angle between the gun and the target and run the motor at full power in the direction the gun needs to go until it's at the angle it needs to face. the issue with that is that because the gun is accelerating, by the time it reaches that angle and the motor shuts off it'll end up overshooting the angle due to inertia. the motor then would activate at full strength to turn the gun the opposite direction back towards the target, causing it to overshoot again. this repeats forever.

if you've ever played Garry's Mod on a wire server you've probably seen a gun programmed like that.

a PID controller accounts for that by considering the gun's current angular velocity and distance from the target angle to prevent overshoot. to know "how" it does that you'll need to know math.

Liftoff. Damn, this rocket is fast, got 300 m/s at 4k meters
>>
>>120911820
>>120912321
I've been using PID loops in kOS to try to write a script that will keep a plane flying straight-and-level. I'll tell you how it works.

In this example let's say that we want a craft's speed to remain at 200 m/s. The fundamental part of the PID loop is to compare the current speed to the desired speed. The goal is to get the error as close to 0 as possible.
(Desired speed)-(current speed)=(error)
(200)-(196)=(4).
We now know that the craft is 4 m/s under the goal, and we can increase the throttle to compensate. Just using P does not require a time aspect because it is an instantaneous calculation. It does not really tell you how much you need to change the throttle because it doesn't have any idea how much the speed will change based on the change in throttle. That's where the Derivative comes into play.

The derivative compares two measurements of the error, the error where it is now and then once again over a set amount of time.
(error1-error0)/(change in time)
(4-1)/1. In one second the speed changed by 3 m/s and it's now only 1 m/s below the goal. It knows that if nothing is changed by the next measurement (presumably 1 second from "now") that it will be over its goal, so it wants to keep the ship accelerating, but not too much, so it will turn down the throttle a tad. This will only make comparisons one by one based on how fast it's approaching its goal.

Finally the integral is used to "remember" past changes over time.
(integral) = ((integral) + (error))*(change in time)
It's basically a summation of all the derivatives that have been calculated. Each time the integral is calculated it adds what it was the last time it was calculated, meaning it sort of becomes an average over time.

And, well, there you go, that's PID theory in a very simple nutshell. You essentially need to add all of these things together and it will give you an amount that you should change your variable by.
>>
>>120913720
The P calculates if a change needs to be made.
The I determines how much it should change by based on all of its previous changes (feedback).
The D calculates how much it thinks it should adjust based on how close it is to getting to its goal (feed forward).

More fuel/engine doesn't always mean more dV.
Setting engines to full blast at launch isn't efficient unless you calculated a good liftoff TWR.
Your posts didn't really give us any insight to how good your turn was but my guess is that it probably wasn't good.

I'm not doing full blast at ground level, that's just plain stupidity. Started with 25%, boosters were on 100%. I started to put more gas at 3000, and at 8000 I had full power while my boosters were gone.

>>120914662
I stayed there for half a cycle anyway.

Off to Minmus. I think it should be enough fuel to get an orbit, only because gravity of Minmus is so weak. I cold hold my orbit over 70km, by doing one quite easy maneuver.

>>

>I started to put more gas at 3000, and at 8000 I had full power
You're missing the point. Your engines aren't as efficient in atmosphere as they are in space so you should maximize your atmospheric efficiency by maintaining a constant TWR until you're out of the atmosphere. The faster you go the more induced drag you generate and if you're going past terminal velocity then you're generating a shit ton of it.

>>120914816
>I stayed there for half a cycle anyway.
You're still losing dV by having a subspace orbit. You lost dV that you just had to make up with your next stage anyway. You basically did the same thing twice.

My guess is that it was a P loop but lacked I and D unless you understand calculus so well that you were able to implement it completely on your own.

This is my latest creation. I wish I could calculate lift and drag coefficients in kOS but I'm running into a lot of road blocks, including my speed of sound calculations not matching up with FAR's.

Yeah that's just a P loop then. Still cool though.

When I have a few days off in a row I want to make an instrument landing system using the vector draw function. I've already made a program that will draw a vector pointing in the direction of prograde and I can draw a vector starting from the end of the runway out to over the ocean, but since the coordinate and vector system is so damn convoluted that I'm having trouble tuning it to exactly what I want.

Here's an old video made a long time ago of an autothrottle PID loop. It's completely different from the one I posted a minute ago because this one calculates throttle based on the change in velocity where as the one I posted already attempts to calculate the exact throttle position needed to maintain an acceleration of 0 based on mass, drag, and available thrust over max available thrust. This video is cool though because it displays some of the inner workings of how PID loops actually function.

I set it up so that over a certain percentage error the script will utilize all 3 P I and D functions to get me where i need quickly. As it gets closer it drops the I until it gets within acceptable ranges and then it's just P. Staying in full PID close to 0 causes funky results like overshoot and windup so simplifying helps a lot.

I'm running the x64 version, because I've got some plans for high-res textures generation on the fly.
But no texture is used here, so no RAM required. probably some VRAM, though, I didn't monitored that.
This one does not impact the performance much, and there's still probably room for optimization.
Still, even with vsync it turns the game into a Furmark-like app. The GC does heat a lot.
As for U5, I didn't test anything yet, there will probably be some changes to make, but I don't expect too much.

/kspg/, you have been selected by the United Launch Alliance to go on a one way trip to a man grade floating outpost on Venus, and live there for three months until you instantly die of insufficient resources, premature balding or mexican certified spaceaids.

Luckily your personal chariot and savior of mankind and all things spess Tory "Bringing SpaceX Down To Earth" Bruno has allowed you to import a total of 2 things from earth to the extraterrestrial settlement.

What do you take along, /kspg/?

Maneuver nodes and mods like kerbal engineer (which should be stock by now) make math unnecessary for ksp. You don't even need math to go to another planet, just a protractor.

They created those pyramids because they destroyed their planet, as the people of planet mostly had a male persona and held science over compassion, which caused them to destroy their planet through technology. Anyway, the pyramids they created were a way to transport to the next habitable planet, which was earth.

This sounds familiar somehow. Is this from that squeeky-voiced cartoon video about Jews being 7th dimensional creatures?

no, the fraud of claiming they are "indie" is the deception this general builds its foundational hatred upon.

They've made tens of millions of dollars, very little to none of it is actually filtered back into development, the goalposts are repositioned almost daily for whatever they have in mind. 1.0 meant nothing and added nothing. They've moved all the money to offshore account and have scrubbed websites that report how much they've made because of "gang concerns"

they also have fired the majority of the whites that got excitement about the game up, and have only hired two or three people with those tens of millions of dollars while claiming they spend nothing on marketing while buying traffic and maker videos and producing full marketing trailers for every update

oh also they're a marketing company, not an "indie dev"

and they accidentally announced the "definitive" version would be released in November 2016

not an indie dev, but that is the cover they use to obscure the fact that they are actually running a scam and a fraud.

Yes, it's called math and understanding how software development works, because it is a part of my career.

How's multiplayer coming? Maybe they could have portioned off 1m to make that happen? No?

>>120949875
poking holes without actually poking holes. You asked a question, I answered it. Fuckoff please.
>>
>>120949282

They had a good idea at one time, but the game's success is what killed it. The devs were adding great things to the game and had excellent things in the works. Then somewhere around version .18, squad went full retard. They "hired" some mod developers that did what could easily be about a week of work (on a daily 8 hour work schedule, that is) on the game. B9 was the best of them all, and of course they got rid of him. Their releases would take forever and not much content was added.

It is obvious that the money they are getting is NOT being spent on new devs to help crank out excellent updates and squash old bugs, and is just going into the pockets of the execs. They took one man's dream and gave him the boot once the game started becoming successful and hooked up the milking pumps to milk all the money out of the game.

I am nearly positive he went to adrian and said "they're releasing everything in a year, we are losing a great marketing opportunity"

and then "career" mode "development" started and went on for two(?) years with little to not new additions, and devs like B9 that raised the bar too high were ostracized
>>

Proof of what? Them making millions? That can be easily verified by looking at the long-outdated SteamSpy numbers. Even if each copy of the game was sold for $7 (and they weren't,) they made well over three million dollars US. Adding to the fact that they're using a tax haven as their company's "Headquarters?" You'd have to be pretty dumb to think they haven't made millions already.

That Monkey Squad is a marketing company is nothing that requires any proof, nor is the fact that they announced the version on the Wii U is going to be the "Definitive Edition."
>>
>>120951052
>Please provide proof :^)
He and Bob (who died) we're hired in response to the great forum purge after Harv mentioned DLC on the dev stream. This occurred in April(?) I think of that year, 0.18 had come out the previous December.
>>
>>120951058
thank you. to me, it's very obvious that they are setting themselves for a "we would love to keep developing, but the big bag triple a labels have locked us out" scenario in a year, but they won't open up the IP, instead, they'll just leave it to rot on all the systems and pick up some long tail sales while continuing to sue everyone who might possibly impede on the IP

Funilly enough it has nothing to do with censorship but with something called the GEMA Klausel. Basically the GEMA is allowed to block any kind of Music video until someone is able to proof that it's their own music. If you're some kind of indie and put your video on youtube, the GEMA can block it until you proof you're the rightful owner. Which is easy to proof but still you have to do it.

At one time the GEMA even sued a kindergarten because they sang a christmas song.

I saw Scott Manley once. My girlfriend and I were on vacation in California, staying at a friends place. We were at the Carnival with one of our other friends on a late Thursday, right before dusk. I heard laughing coming from the center of a small crowd, maybe seven or eight people. Walking up, the crowd turned and parted a little. Inside it were two men wearing heavy clothing in the summer, they looked sweaty, or greasy, maybe. They were high-fiving continuously and making guttural noises.

"Scott?" I say, without thinking. Before I even realize it, he's spun around, his shirt is wide open, his hairless chest beneath gleaming an off-color shade of white. His eyes lock with mine. "Hullo!" he says. "Thank god you know him <Hullo!>“ one of the crowd members mumble into my ear. “<Hullo!> One man says they've been here for six hours... we were about to <Hullo!> call 911, they just wouldn't stop high-fiving, and I think one of them shit himself a little.”

"Hullo!" Scott yells, almost of the top of his lungs. 6 or 7 immediately begin to back away. "I'm Scott Manley!" Surprised, I choke out: ”Yes, I kno-"

"And today we're talking about physics! What makes the seats on that spinning attraction there splay out like that?"

"Look, Scott, why don't you go home?" My girlfriend asks. Scott looks over at her with exaggerated eye movements. His upper jaw muscles are twinging repeatedly, flitting about, making his entire jaw move slightly.

"Antigravity." He said. "They generate their own antigravity. Okay. We've got a lot more to cover, ooh, let's do the house of mirrors next, I want to show what’s on the other side of a black hole!”

Scott followed us around all night, even back to our friends place. He just opened the fridge and started drinking the beer. Eventually he found a bottle of Gin and killed it too. We kicked him out when took a massive steamer in his pants and told us it’s what astronauts do.

we /kspg pasta/ now

Last week, I saw an internet celebrity related to our general thread at my local Wendy's - none other than Scott Manley, AKA the Astronogamer.

I was going through the drivethru. I don't normally eat fast food, but I was happy to break that rule when I recognized the driver in front of me as him. I listened in to hear what someone such as Manley Himself would order to fuel his rockets.

"Hullo, i'd like 2 triple *mumble* meals, an asiago french redhot chicken fiesta bowl, bacon wrap, fresh fries, two large *mumble* no ice..." He went on like this for a few minutes, sometimes mumbling, sometimes speaking loudly and quickly. He got very agitated when the person taking his order misheard parts of it.

Due to the confusion, I couldn't hear what all he got, but I did hear the end total - $74.29. It seemed like an awful lot of food for one person.

I ordered a single chicken sandwich, no drink, from the clearly exasperated fast food girl. In the background of her mic and around the side of the building, I could hear Scott speaking loudly and concisely. "Second window, please." the girl taking my order sighed.

I rounded the corner in time to see Manley offering his debit card to the window, only to pull it away from the hand that emerged to accept it. He then laughed hysterically for all of a second, then quickly said "Enjoy the food, bitch!" so it echoed through the parking lot adjacent to the building, peeled out and left the bags and bags of food on the drivethru window's shelf, unpaid for.

The understandably upset drive thru girl, flanked by a miserable looking manager-type, practically threw my sandwich at me. An oversized black woman complained loudly in the background about "Fuckin' creeps that come through this time of night" to complete to scene, as I drove off.

Meet the game developers of Mexico

>Kerbal Space Program is certainly one of Mexico’s big game development successes. It has a player base of over a million, and it is up for a 2015 Golden Joystick Award as Best Indie. Its developers at Squad recently attended the White House Astronomy Night. While there, they announced a public campaign for a girls-focused video production contest. It will highlight women involved with space travel, astrophysics and space exploration.

>But Kerbal Space Program’s producer, Miguel A. Piña Sabido, hasn’t found that success translates to much attention or interest at home in Mexico City.

“We’re practically unknown down here, and the first thing the gaming community down here says when they learn about us is ‘wait, Kerbal is from Mexico?’ Our fan base here may be small, but they are passionate as they are proud,” said Sabido. “But there’s not so much we can do on the industry side of things. Government support is flaky at best, and while we do our best to attend DevHR [a game development conference held in Colonia Juárez, Chihuahua] every year, we find the general gaming industry in Mexico to be insular.”

>Wryly, he added: “It’s surreal in the end. We can go to PAX and get greeted and stopped every 10 feet, but I guess it is pretty indicative that from our metrics — there are more KSP players in Japan than in Mexico.”

Meet the game developers of Mexico

>Beyond that, there’s a growing foundation of support for game development in Mexico, between international organizations like the ESA and Sony and local groups like Games Starter. With that and the dogged determination of studios like Squad, Lienzo, Cosmogonia, Xibalba and so many others, it’s clear that the industry has momentum.

>Whether that momentum can overcome the challenges ahead remains to be seen. Kerbal Space Program Producer Miguel Sabido thinks it has a good shot, though.

>Squad is building ties with others, and things are changing for all of them. When he looks at Mexico’s video game industry on the whole, he’s hopeful: “It’s starting to grow, and it’s going to be cool.”

Thank you for perfectly expressing the base logic that ruined this game. Selling to 8-year-olds, maintaining an illusion of community input on development, and building in gamey arkade career features are just a few examples of the sole type of logic you manage to bring to the table.

You apply this logic to every aspect of KSP, it's why the product has stagnated for the past two years, it's why there's been no visionary announcements of cooperative building / play, no cloud based system that lets you manage your space program from your smart phone or build on the PC and play on your console. There is no forward momentum, no vision, it's clear you're running out the clock, stuffing all your profits in an offshore account, just waiting for that sweet, sweet, November 2016 project conclusion bonus cash.

Fuck you, fuck you from the bottom of my heart for taking on this project, for turning into a personal podium and forcing traffic to your personal social media pages. Fuck you for building your own avatar and a whole fucking game mechanic in just to justify your existence. Fuck you for career mode, fuck you for the permanently unfinished state of sandbox. It's okay buddy, you've already given me the award of having an amazing and innovative game where the players create their own space program using a shitty UI, immersion-breaking transitions and bugs, and a shitty career mode that's only fun if you have severe autism.

You forgot to mention the tens of millions of dollars. Which transferred to our weak currency gives us the equivalent purchasing power of hundreds of millions of dollars. I still get giddy when I think of it.
>>
>>121003680
considering it took you two years to shit that abomination called career mode out, and a full update in the post 1.0 world takes at least 8 months, I don't think you'll get more than one more update in before you hit your FT contract deadline.

So, as sales are tailing off from the console premiere, you're not 100% committed to ongoing costs of server hosting, moderation, plus per-platform support for "definitive" features such as wii's trackpad.

You are fucked. f.u.c.k.e.d. You have put tons of struts and boosters on but you have no plan to achieve lift after you run out of runway. There's no business model, no plan, you're so busy lying to the userbase that you've forgotten to have a goal in mind.

I'm sure, like multiplayer, you will tease a bunch of new features, and I'm sure, like remotetech, they will just magically keep getting pushed back. And then one day it will end, and it be "a surprise to all," you'll lie, again, and then, oh thank god, then I will be released from this awful curse of ever having to think of your swarthy face again.

So uh... I'm just getting back into this game, since fucking KEEN refuses to release planets for Spengies, and I need my fix. It's been a fucking long time since I played. I noticed the aerodynamics have changed (re-entry effects and more) but the one thing that feels odd to me in career mode:

No contracts. The only ones that show up are from the World Records thing. Nothing else shows up, like the tourism ones or the part test contracts.

I tried backing up and reinstalling, but it hasn't fixed it. Am I just fucked?
>>
>>121008061
Are you actually visiting the Mission Control building to pick them up? Its the little one behind the VAB

So apparently brown dwarfs are not massive enough to become stars but are heavier than gas giants.

Do you think our Jupiter could become a brown dwarf ? What is the parameter that gives a gas giant to be able to sustain hydrogen-1 fusion ? With a little elbow grease from passage of time or anything else, could the scenario depicted by A. Clarke in 3001, where Jupiter becomes a new but much colder sun, become a reality ?

>our pathetically absurd exaggeration of a roadmap designed to highlight Squad's lies wasn't even 50% generous enough with how hard they are fucking us over for 1.0.5/1.1.
That's what is hurting me the most.
>>
>>121049139
Assumptions:

• Due to the game of telephone and Squad's poor communication skills, it will have new and even worse bugs, in addition to pre-existing bugs

• The controller layout will suck no matter what. Things like clicking parts, opening menus, using mods, will all become impossible.

• There will be no support

• Multiplayer will be unplayable

• Building ships will be a sad exercise in futility

• There will be no cross platform compatibility

• Newfriends will show up that in addition to being billies, will be ultrabillies because >console< and they expect to be spoonfed everything

• The game will still crash, probably freezing the console and requiring a restart

• The sales bump will be minimal at best, which, no big surprise here, will make squad grumpy and unwilling to address game breaking bugs

• Harv will commit suicide
>>
>>121049774
Another one, this just occurred to me, but it's a BIG one:

The console ports will be 1.0, because FT is NOT building out the U5 version, unless they have been sitting on their asses for 8 months already, which seems entirely possible I guess.
>>
>>121049774
>Due to the game of telephone and Squad's poor communication skills

This also assumes that Squad is communicating with the guys porting the game in the first place.

I'm sure that FT has been working as hard as possible to create the most bug-ridden joke of a game released in recent memory.
>>
>>121049963
Well after promising no resources would be allocated to it, they then went ahead and allocated resources to it, but I don't see how this flies:

"We will continue to develop the game until at least your release date, and we will need your release to be the 'definitive' version of the game"

Literally that's like saying 1+1=1

>The controller layout will suck no matter what. Things like clicking parts, opening menus, using mods, will all become impossible.
How the fuck is it supposed to work at all? I can see how controlling KSP on the Wii-U makes sense (if only the game were well enough made that it won't require severe part restrictions or something equally dramatic just to run), but what about the other consoles?
>>
>>121054302
You can plug keyboard and mouse into PS4, not sure about bone.
>>
>>121049774
Well, the controller should actually be pretty decent for the actual "flying a rocket" part of the game. I wouldn't be entirely surprised if they make some kind of "action menu" with some right-click commands in it, and then simply locked out the VAB and SPH and just had a few dozen premade rockets.

Maxmaps 2013: Let's add menus you need to click to get shit done... for everything gameplay related
Maxmaps 2014: Let's overhaul and make the game release ready except let's not actually do any of that since we have been doing that and will continue doing that long past 1.0
Maxmaps 2015: Great, now that this is an unplayable mess, let's port it to consoles so that players can use joysticks to select tweakables

Well produced, SpamXam, well produced.

We have to entertain ourselves with random bullshit because even the game's negative aspects have become dull.

>making planet exploration and rovers useful
>career mode that isn't shit

Another something I'd like to see would be creating own parts, I talked about this a few weeks ago I think.

Practically deleting all engines and making them all procedural. You can increase the ISP or the thrust, the heigh and diameter of it and it all would balance each other out by increasing or decreasing the mass of it. For example a gimbaled rocket could weigh much more and you could chose to either decrease thrust or ISP.
Maybe even be allowed to change the material you build rockets from. Some are much lighter but burn up as soon as sunlight touches them.
That would also fits perfectly into career mode, the higher you are, the bigger you can max out the different sliders.
You could save them as templates so you wouldn't have to build them over and over again.

Would also please the lelsokerbal crowd. A huge ass engine with such a a low mass and high thrust, but low ISP that it burns through all the fuel extremely fast and accelerates like crazy.

There was something an Anon drew on paper a few years was it such a long time? but I can't find it.
>>
>>121151924
>making planet exploration and rovers useful
>career mode that isn't shit

how? that's basically the same as saying "just make it good :^)"

procedural parts I agree with though, it would cut down on memory by a lot, and also reduce the complexity of the physics simulation

career would also be less of a clusterfuck if the restriction was in mass and height, not number of parts

>making planet exploration and rovers useful
I guess at first you had to indroduce a better way to get ressources. Ice and whatever other things have to be a thing. You could drive arround with your rover for searching the perfect place to put down the different base parts.
Of course you can also scan out of orbit where different places are buty you'd have to but a rover down to know exactly the best spot for it.

So you'd have to put different pylons on a planet each for a different ressource mining spot. Those would be scattered all over the place but you'd have to put them near enough you you can pipe them all up. Maybe by kerbal-hand or buy using a pipe laying rover. Or even a plane that poops out pipes when flying near over the surface if you like it the lelsokerbal way.

And after some more or less hard work done you'd have a nice little refueling station on a planet or a moon. Mabye let them even mine different metals so you could even build rockets from those sites when gathering enough ressources. Let the part editor not have price tags but rather material costs. 10kg iron, 0,150kg titan, or whatever. On Kerbin you can buy them, on other planets you mine them. How about having an uranium mine on Gilly and having space tugs to bring that sweet metal back to Kerbin to sell it?
>>
>>121152447
hullo, janny's back, snek seems like he's on the edge of a break, during squadcast everyone bullied max for saying female kerbals might just be bouncier, including a good ol' YOU PC BRO? even from gregroxmun. Greg was also told the hypetrain derailed and Max thanked /kspg/ for reminding him Nukes don't use oxidizer anymore, only to stop talking mid sentence when he read "I was worried you'd forgotten because you never play :^)"

Squadcast ended after that. More to burn in just a few days!!!

Oh and of course absolutely no development news for 1.1 or 1.0.5. and it has now been three months since 1.1 was "about to enter QA"

Oh and Max has dropped a few times that "if I ever leave", which combined with him being on bitch duty points to him ragequitting as 1.0.5./1.1 shits itself for the last time due to his complete and total lack of effort to actually plan anything with the assumption other people would pick up his slack because "he's more of an ideas guy"

also I'm buying a series of tickets that may or may not end up in Mexico
>>
>>121154565
rover thing sounds tedious as fuck desu
using a rover to probe the ground? may be good for immersion but even the scaled down planets in ksp are fuckhuge, you'd definitely not want to have to do it more than a couple of times

I don't understand what you mean by pylons, is it starcraft?

but I agree with the last part, you should be able to establish launch sites on other planets, and as you say use resources either to build parts, or ship them home to kerbin for mad dosh

resources would have to be simple though, you don't want to end up in a situation where you need 12 different resources and if one is missing like in space engineers you can't do anything

one resource, maybe iron, for building most common parts should be enough, requiring a separate source of fuel wouldn't be too bad though

the planets would still be bare as fuck so I don't see how it would make exploration any better

With pylon I actually just meant a ressource mining station. Like pic related.

The rovers obviously need a better driving physics, which will hopefully come in 1.1 :^)
Maybe even give them some sort of autopilot where you can give them different waypoints they drive automatically to. But I'm not quite sure if this fits the game very well and I don't want to end up in a mechpleb argument. MechJeb is cheating.

I agree Space Engineers has way too much of them. But just having Iron sounds a bit lame. With the procedural parts above different materials for heat, weight and damage resistence would be cool. And maybe having a special strong ressource on one planet.

You're right, the planets would still be boring. Maybe it would help rebuilding the science system. Instead of different biomes you right click until it's done you'd have to search for different science objects. Maybe a plant-fossil on duna. But that would just end up in a tedious driving arround like you already said.

The planets had to have some kind of interesting surface and look good. Having a stock scatterer mod would help a lot.

I'm still a fan of a dead civilization that visited the planets before kerbals did. You could find rare artifacts in temples build by them.

Or how about sandstorms making landing extremely hard in some regions? They would shake your spacecraft arround and damage solar panels. So you'd have to build a flat rover with a nuclear reactor that's build of titanium so you can get inside without any damage or dead kerbals?

>We’re really happy about the decision to push the Unity 5 upgrade to it’s own distinct patch. Mike and Felipe especially put a lot of time and work to get KSP running on Unity 5, and we feel it’ll be great to be able to run and profile the two games back-to-back both and get a good measure of the performance tweaks.
>“We are so very close to having a QA worthy build of the new patch. Very excited to see it finished and out the door!” -Mike (Mu)
>After last week’s Squadcast there have been questions about how exactly multithreaded PhysX will work in Kerbal Space Program, One of the biggest improvements is that is optimized for multi-threaded processing. The short answer is, we aren’t sure how it’ll work exactly. The insides of PhysX are hardcoded deep under Unity’s hood, which means we have very little access to it from our end.
>“Our own code hasn’t changed to support multithreaded physics simulation, so how exactly it will handle KSP objects like multi-rigidbody vessels, is not something we can see in detail” -Felipe (HarvesteR)
?There also seems to be some confusion about the difference between the terms multi-threading and multi-core. When we talk about cores, we are generally talking about hardware. Software, however, deals with threads. Threads and Cores are related, but they are different concepts altogether. Threads are virtual, abstract entities used by software to split their workload for separate. Cores are the hardware used to actually process multiple threads at the same time.

I know I'm replying late, but there is a few bots that crawl KerbalStuff for download links, everything gets mirrored to another site that then acts like a mod download site, but since it uses KS server for downloads it incurs none of the bandwidth costs.

So you'll tend to see plenty of out of date downloads.

So the real download count is the one for the last version.
That's disappointing, It's far from 5k downloads then.
It's okay, I can handle he pain.
