I have a gigabit port in my apartment/condo.
Just went through a really long process of getting it installed, third part company installs fibre in the basement, runs fibre up the service riser into a distribution switch and run cat5e straight into my property.
End result is 1Gb down 1Gb up, all for myself, not been able to saturate it.
It's personal. https://hyperoptic.com/
>tfw nothing to eat but fish and Cram
Already got the main game, hoping we still can pirate the DLCs.
As per norm:
Bethesda will choose some dumb location on the east coast where irrelevant faggots live.
Obsidian will pick somewhere West Coast where real people of consequence live.
And everyone knows that while the East coast are do-nothing blowhards, they still don't suck as much as middle America (Vegas excluded). So, there will be no middle America fallout. Probably somewhere like Washington (Seattle/Portland).
Ah you're one of the lucky few then, it's sad how for most people that's still not an option even if they wanted it. Best you can get here is 350MB.
In Fallout universe? ND can have whatever they want.
Not him but 3/NV/4 all have recognizable set-pieces to kick the Americana button. I mean, what's North Dakota's Washington Monument/Hoover Dam/Revere Monument? What are you going to put in a trailer?
>Obsidian will pick somewhere West Coast where real people of consequence live.
the only people I know of who live on the west coat are self-important Hollywood movie stars and other people who contribute nothing but mindless distractions.
>hey still don't suck as much as middle America (Vegas excluded). So, there will be no middle America fallout.
This however I can agree on.
Even Obsidian seems to think middle America sucks. They
-Entirely level Salt Lake City.
-Let the White Legs destroy New Canaan
-Made Denver abandoned and overrun by feral dogs
-Made nothing is going on in New Mexico
-Treated Tuscon and Phoenix as "yeah they exist but are boring" cities.
-Most of the Northwest, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, is still largely empty/ruined wastelands that the Khans might possibly build an empire out of in short time because there's nothing up there to oppose them.
To add to this
-North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma will never appear(again) in a Fallout game, as there is just shit in them.
-Iowa and Wisconsin are in the same boat
-Minnesota is likely in the same boat, though, if they run out of other places to do, we mght get Fallout: Minneapolis at some point.
Sooner or later you'll run out of those locations though. And then you either start doing original content for the landmarks, or recycle the same locations over and over again.
And IMO it'd be a refreshing change to get a location not as instantly recognizable for once. Games are always doing NY, LA etc., give me some anonymous small towns that're the real heart of America, instead.
Denver's salvageable in its current state, but in the long run I think they'll quietly retcon dogpocalypse. Most of their current audience isn't even aware and the area's too interesting to shitcan.
I agree that we don't need another NY or LA, but the problem with an anonymous small town is, well, it's anonymous. Fuckall of interest to start with. Loses any value of starting from a real-world location, know what I mean?
What exactly makes Denver so interesting?
It lacks the history of places like D.C. and Boston, and I can't think of some immediately identifiable cultural tick like Vegas had.
I only know of Denver because people go to ski a lot in Colorado... but that's about it.
And given that they have been trying to dogify Denver since Van Buren, I don't think they will change it.
Sure, there's that. But you can always write it to be interesting, fill it with engaging characters and stories and as I'm typing this I'm just realizing it's Bethesda we're talking about so that will never happen.
Yeah, best they stick to the locations that people can recognize.
Actually, the west coast is basically responsible for all of American progress since about the 1960s.
Apple, Microsoft, Amazon.com, Facebook, etc. California alone would be the 8th largest economy in the world.
All the east coast has is old money, dead ideas, and trust fund babies. People who are corporate slaves and do nothing of real value, just try to pretend like they are doing real work while the west coast carries them.
Main location would still need to be in the US, the Fallout brand of americana is just too deeply entrenched into the whole series to function without it. As a DLC though, sure.
Glass motherfucking Mountain, innit? The mother of all vaults. A local could tell you more about the more conventional tourist traps.
While I would love a 70s-themed post-apoc Fallout: London, it'll never happen.
Not after Hellgate ruined it for everyone. It's too far out of the comfort zone for the market.
If I wanted to play a game running around underground tunnels all the time I'd play Metro 2033. That shit got depressing fast.
It's nice to be outside in an open world, I'd fear there would be too much time spent creating a massive underground world, and not much to do outside.
>DR% only armor is back
>No DT armor will exist even when the GECK comes out because consolefags can't implement it
Feels bad, man.
>DT was so broke Sawyer gave all medium and heavy armors DR in his mod so that they would actually be useful.
>People are sad a damage reduction system that the game's own leader designer said didn't work is getting replaced by one that did.
I've finished both of them, thought they were good, but I'd be worried about it getting depressing too quickly.
Always looked forward to getting out of the vaults in the FO games when I'd been in there a while.
NA its DR + DT > DR > DT
DR can work on its own, even if it is horribly simplistic, NV proved DT cannot work on its own, and needs DR to prevent medium and heavy armors from becoming worthless.
Agreed. I wouldn't want to lock the player away. Though - if we ignore Tactics, and I do, because I haven't played it - having Cheyenne half-torn apart by relentless bombardment, exposing a big chunk of NORAD to the elements, would be flippin' sweet to wander around. You could have your vault and horizon, too.
>having to use items to make high end armor not worthless.
If you don't see how that's a problem, then you are blind.
No other game does that, because that's fucking retarded and illogical.
Medium and Heavy armor should deflect noticeably more amounts of damage then light armor just be design.
That they did not is why DT is broken, and why Sawyer changed it.
I think a cool premise for a Fallout game would be a game set 100 years after Tactics, where you travel to the mid-west only to find that it's completely barren of the Brotherhood of Steel.
Not would be 8th, is. California is the 8th largest economy in the world. California props up the US economy, it's the only reason the USA was #1 on that chart for so long. We (Californians) are also bankrupt, and massively in debt, so there's that working for us.
When you're wearing power armor, or any good armor, the ability of piddling enemies and animals to damage you should become 0 so you can effortlessly kick the shit out of them at 0 risk to yourself unless they score a critical. So that means, among other things, 9mm and 10mm submachine guns, the things that fuck up low-level characters hard, should not be effective against you.
DT didn't reduce damage to 0 in NV, it was capped at 20%.
Lowering the cap only breaks the balance of the game because then you become immune to the shitty weapons 90% of the populace logically has.
The purpose of armor in a video game is to reduce damage taken, to the point shit doesn't kill you in one hit, without reducing it so much that nothing bothers you.
Else you run into a case like the terribly balanced Fallout 1/2 Pa, that basically made the game have no challenge.
Which is why both DT and DR have caps of 80% damage negated.
>Else you run into a case like the terribly balanced Fallout 1/2 Pa, that basically made the game have no challenge.
until a giant radscorpion or something crits you and you take like 900 damage in one hit and die
probably the best combat mechanics the world has ever known
>without reducing it so much that nothing bothers you.
>Else you run into a case like the terribly balanced Fallout 1/2 Pa, that basically made the game have no challenge.
There was plenty of shit in both games that could waste you even in the best power armor.
>because you won't be able to wear PA full-time anymore.
Just because you can't *initially* do it (during that Minutemen intro quest we've seen parts of), doesn't mean you won't be able to later. The more advanced versions of Power Armor were largely self-sustaining in terms of power so the fusion cell excuse won't fly. And if they try it, someone'll just mod it out because fuck that shit.
the only problem with power armor in new vegas is that you can kinda run straight to the BoS and get training after a few quests
i think fallout 3's armor ended up being a more balanced game element, even though you only had it for like the last 5 minutes of the fucking game
You can get PA the moment you get to the citadel, which, if you skip the Megaton and GNR main quests, you can do like 3 hours in of a 100 hour game.
Or just do OA and get it in like 2 hours form game start.
>The more advanced versions of Power Armor were largely self-sustaining in terms of power so the fusion cell excuse won't fly.
The T-60 suit you get in the Minutemen intro is literally THE "more advanced" version. We also see that the fusion core in the back can move the suit with ease, but loses energy when you use certain things (like the jetpack)
>someone'll just mod it out
What does that have to do with anything? You're not proving a resource economy is broken by cheating in an infinite amount of that resource, you're just proving you're a child.
Ok so if we need just one battery per armor, that's fine I guess. Though since the battery tech in Fallout universe is so obviously better than ours, do they even discharge on their own if not used?
In the gameplay exploration video, the PC has 1 fusion core in his T-60, which he wears down by about 5% by doing the entire Minuteman intro fight.
He also has 11 extra cores on hand.
I suppose we could assume that the size of T-60 (literally twice as big as T-45) means that it uses more energy to power the hydraulics and shit.
Hopefully T-51 is the most fuel efficient. Although the Enclave armor >>118707049 will probably be the most fuel efficient
>literally twice as big as T-45
Power armor in F4 seems to be built around the same exoskeleton-base, onto which you can throw different armor components, so there really isn't a size difference between the variants.
Yes. Same skeleton, bigger armor.
Look at the helmet, for instance.
I think that mods should meet a certain criteria before having the option to slap a price-tag on them.
>Entirely unique content.
>Generally positive verified reviews over the course of two months.
>File size increases the amount of money you can charge at rate of $1/1GB.
>Modders are obligated to fix ANY AND ALL bugs determined by the community to be caused by the Modder's product, lest their license be revoked.
This ensures that only the best Modders have the right to charge for their work, while also enforcing proper workmanship.
T51 remaining best looking armor.
Fuck Bethesda for making it worse than the T60APA is second for looks at least its better than the T60
The green text is reversed because the frames I took from the video were "buffer frames" where other models were loading but the old ones were still there. The text was just quicker in changing. If that makes sense.
These colors don't run. Outcasts Forever, Forever Outcasts.
>who's doing the sanity checks?
>who's watching for shill reviews? How is that fair when the bulk of downloaders never rate what they're using?
>who's checking for inflated file sizes, or 1 MB of content coupled with 1024 MB of uncompressed skybox downloaded from images.google.com?
>who monitors this? What's their service level? How do you avoid witch hunts and vote brigading? What do you do when a patch breaks a mod?
I get that you're saying "mods should be regulated", but the logistics are not so simple and regulation sits about as comfortably as taxation.
It'll be interesting to see what controls get put in place for the xbox mods, because I'll bet you anything that same structure will end up applied to paid mods down the line...
>Whats the point to having a disc if it doesnt have the games files on it?
I dunno, but MGSV pulled that shit. Physical edition has nothing but steam installer on it, you wasted money and time getting physical with that game
I swear to god if FO4 pulls the same shit
The problem is that we don't know the specifics of any actual armor.
T-51 is made of a poly composite, has a coating to stop lasers and radiation, has full waste recycling, and runs on a fusion core.
T-45 runs on small energy cells. We don't know what it's made of.
People like to say that T-45 is made of steel and is therefor weaker, but there's no documentation to prove this.
They probably won't, but it won't matter to me since hopefully it will have preload. I don't want to wait 2-3 days downloading before I can play.
But if it doesn't have preload 4-5 days before game comes out, I will be a little gripy.
Riveted steel which contributes to its weight. Bethesda kind of fucked up their T51 model by adding rivets, I'm not entirely sure but you probably wouldn't see rivets on composite ceramic plating.
Can you imagine the controversy once adult mods eek their way to consoles?
>"Teen caught playing game with his large breasted female player character he made get raped repeatedly by demons with large claws. Parent is suing the game company who made this demon rape simulator possible."
>Bethesda remove traits when making Fallout 3
>Obsidian adds them back in New Vegas
>Bethesda takes them out again for Fallout 4
>Bethesda removes DT when making Fallout 3
>Obsidian adds it back in New Vegas
>Bethesda takes it out again for Fallout 4
Gotta attach them somehow. Armor plates are meant to be replaced.
Obsidian adds it all back in again in Fallout: New Seattle
They also said it would be "Just like PC" when it comes to modding, so maybe they could download shit from Loverslab and Nexus to get their titty mods.
>Could never finish FO1 due to super mutants destroying my party and I. Saves are long gone
Should I play FO2? I'm not sure if they're connected in story, I was at the very end of FO1 from what I recall.
>Riveted steel which contributes to its weight
So if T-51 in FO3 has rivets and is made of polymer, how can you be certain that T-45 (which has rivets in FO3) is made of steel? The way it looks?
What about the fact that in Operation Anchorage, T-51 looks like it's made of steel that has been covered in a snow camouflage coating?
Power Armor lore is completely fucked up as it is
>most traits are -5% to skill X, +5% to skill Y
>skills are now ranked
>if you want to add a rank to perk Y and not to perk X knock yourself out
No comment on the DT. I wouldn't care if they switched to THAC0 as long as I know which to wear and which to sell.
Guess you're right.
I'm pretty sure they mentioned Beth.net would be consoles' only source of mods
I doubt MS or Sony would allow Bethesda to allow users to drop any old files off a thumbdrive onto the console, filesystem access no matter how small leads to consoles being busted wide open eventually.
Beth.net will probably be the only way to get mods into the game, which means all the good mods that actually do stuff will remain PC exclusive
No, you're fucked, go play TF2.
Is the GoG version of Fallout 2 censored? I know the first game is, but it has a fix. Is there a fix for FO2?
>Removing a broken system that didn't do much of anything and not caring the same as Bethesda removing the literal core gameplay system that works fine and not caring.
Nice false equivalence.
R8 my Char, which is based off me as close as i could
>finish Minuteman intro
>find new town
>New Nipton discovered (+00010 XP)
>entire street is decimated
>corpses hang over every ledge, blood flowing into road
>dead babies impaled on pikes and shit
>spot 5 Brotherhood of Steel paladins in T-60 at the other end of the street
About time those guys realized what's truly important.
>not going dumb yet lucky brawler build
Me smash stuff gud
You also see it drain from the jetpack. The power gauge isn't the limit on the duration of use of power armor; the durability of the armor itself is. The power gauge only decreases when you use the extras.
Hrm. I'll have to see for myself when the time comes. I'd rather have movement-based power drain (wonder if the minigun counts as an extra?) than allow spotlights to drain fusion cores.
post yfw these numbers are inflated and worthless
I doubt a torch is more power consuming than an entire hydraulic sub-system.
I could understand with the jetpack though, if they use Iron Man sciencemagic to turn electricity into fire.
It's precisely because it's a video game that I doubt the spotlight drains power. Jetpack major drain = balance, movement minor drain = balance. Spotlight drain is unnecessary. This isn't Doom 3 or Alan Wake, light jes ain't a gameplay element.

>tfw missed out on a cheap piece of plastic
I always wonder what people are going to do with those things for the 99.9998% of their lives that aren't spent at conventions or Halloween. Put it above your door, crossed with your collector's edition portal gun?
Yes. It's powered by microfusion.
So why would a spotlight drain a significant amount of CORE power?
Keep in mind that weapons also use microfusion and expel the entire energy output in a few shots.
>ever saying Sol
So are Energy weapons In Gunslinger and Commando and Rifileman?
Because you're a fucking subhuman. The core in question is powering the entire suit. For gameplay purposes, using the special add-ons drains energy, thus limiting your ability to use those add-ons. It does not limit movement.
>meet a nonhostile behemoth along the coast
>get closer, his name is Stormalong
>a tentacle whips out from the waves and drags him down
>get into your PA and dive in
>a mighty battle in the depths
>the SS manages to free the beast
>your town now has its own mutie behemoth protecting it
JSawyer + CCO + TTW
The way it's meant to be played.
tbh I'd rather have the tentacle.
You should kill yourself, because that's literally why, yes. You can GO wherever you want in the power armor, until it takes so much damage the plates fall off. You cannot use the power for add-ons infinitely.
The maximum meaningful armor rating in Skrim was 570. It was equivalent to 80% damage reduction. Now we have here an armor with 980 armor rating which isn't even the best in its class. The numbers were inflated and became even more meaningless.
Why wouldn't I call our star Sol? It is the name of our star. It doesn't magically become not-Sol when you're on Earth.
Also, it's a micro-fusion power plant. The cells are the reactors, you are swapping fusion reactors when you put a new one in. It was mentioned in several Fallouts that the reactors in Power Armor basically last for 100+ years, so whether we need to swap MFCs or not remains to be seen.
can you just sum up your points again so i can understand what you're trying to get across
because first you said that the suit stopped moving when the armor comes off
now you're saying it's just less effective when the armor comes off
Why would the flashlight drain all that much power? Hydraulic systems would take up much more power. When I originally quoted you in >>118713132, you were talking about how fusion = electricity, like the Iron Man Arc Reactor (not fusion).
Somewhat related question:
Have you ever played BattleTech? 'Mechs use fusion reactors and jump jets are quite literally and physically opening up exhaust ports from the fusion reaction to achieve lift. I don't see any reason why that wouldn't be the case here, aside from the reactors themselves being the MFCs.
>Why would the flashlight drain all that much power? Hydraulic systems would take up much more power.
I already said this, lol
>I doubt a torch is more power consuming than an entire hydraulic sub-system.
the other anon that wants me to kill myself thinks that fusion cores have infinite power but can only power attachments for a limited time because gameplay purposes
he also thinks that armor makes things move
Who's ready to go back down into the
I am I just hope we're not.forced to use them like in 3
PC. Still 60 bucks on Steam.
I tried Anon, I really did.
I've just played it so much. I've got all the endings. I've found all the secret loot caches. There's nothing else to do.
>deathclaws spread to boston
>need a dark, quiet place to breed
>find the metro stations
>start breeding down there
>hundreds of them fill up the train tunnels
>rise from the tunnels at the dawn of each day to feed on the unknowing
I just hope the underground will be more varied and
spoopythis time. Surely Bethesda got the feedback.
Speaking of, CoC is officially released. Still needs touching up here and there, but it's definitely playable.
>But anon the game looks so open
And Fallout 3 has over 300 endings!
I know /fog/ hate Fallout 1 and 2 but I really wish Bethesda kept some of the original designs. Ghouls used to look a lot cooler than they do now, and I hate that blatantly fake raspy voice they try to do.
I hate FO1 and 2 so much I still have my original boxes from 1998.
Depends what itch you want to scratch. I really like most Rockstar games, but I can see where the mission structure would grate on some people. If you're just looking for an open world game, you could try the new mad max game. It's not bad at all and keys are going on ebay for less than $30.
Okay, are you the guy who keeps posting fucking thumbnails.
STOP MAN. Just open the fuckin image before you save it!
It doesn't look any better.
is anyone else going to shoot that dumb nigger preston in the face as soon as you meet him and his fuckaround gang?
There's always Saint's Row. 2 is a poorly-optimized gem, 3 is a better-optimized funfair, and 4 trades everything in for superpowers, losing a lot in the translation. All of 'em have full co-op and outstanding character customization.
Not something I'd normally bring up in /fog/, but if you're in a GTA mood...
If this game doesn't have silenced shotguns I'm going to be mad.
/fog/ doesn't hate fallout 1 and 2. Faggots do.
I respectfully disagree.
Is it better than Megaton?
>looks like they recycled most of the layouts
In the concept art I saw a junk yard where people lived under piles of cars and shit which is cool
i also saw a freight ship that people lived onto of which is not so cool
Megaton is silly on many levels, and it's annoying to navigate, but it looks fantastic. They put some time in.
You know, Megaton's layout isn't really logical, but I'm totally cool with it. Because Fallout isn't logical.
If you want Fallout with logic, play STALKER
Dunno. Maybe they set off one bomb and then dropped another bomb in the crater.
this is the best bait ive seen in years. my hats off to you faggot
My only problem with Megaton is the bomb itself.
It makes no sense why there's a fatman style bomb dropped on DC. Didn't we establish that ICBMs are used by the US and China?
I always took the launching of the nukes to be a really sudden spark of the moment thing, and as soon as launches were detected the other side launched theres.
Unless there was a Dr. Strangelove situation where a Chinese Bomber was constantly flying around the US coast, it would take hours for a plane to be equipped, take off, arrive at DC, and drop the bomb.
Why not the atomic version of an earthquake bomb like the Tallboy?
It would make sense: the bomb didn't destroy on impact, but it dug itself in the ground (as intended), but it didn't go off.
Beside, I like the idea behind Megaton, but the execution is really poor.
It would have made more sense on the West Coast, yeah. I guess you could say maybe it's an American bomb that was dropped / lost in the confusion. E.G. one of those long range strat bombers was taking off from the DC area when the apocalypse happened and lost its payload before it was armed. I don't want to defend Megaton anymore so I'm tapping out.
During the Cold War it became clear that in case of a sudden nuclear strike, it was vital, in order to win the nuclear war, to be able to retaliate with a second strike. To do this, you had to protect your nuclear arsenal, and bombers always in flight at two hours maximum from any possible target was a very good solution, which we can assume was employed also by the chinese in the Fallout universe.
By the way, the bombers thing was called Operation Chrome Dome. Also, I suggest you to watch the documentary First Strike, it should be on YouTube.
isn't mega made from an air port or miltary base or some shit, maybe it was already there. maybe a bomb hit then it rolled into the crater. it says on it that it's a vault tech bomb
>yfw the bomb is a hoax designed to keep megaton in competition with tenpenny
That's a lot of effort for a hoax.
Fallout nukes, lower-yield, yadda yadda yadda.
Last time I played, some combination of mods removed the mushroom cloud. Sound effects, screen shake, but no visual FX whatsoever. Felt bad man.
New Jersey, easy access to New York and Phili, not to mention Camden which is currently a crime ridden hellhole similar to Detroit and has the battleship New Jersey. Imagine a city filled with raiders who control a battleship whose guns they use to fire on neighboring towns and cities if they don't pay tribute in goods, money, and slaves. Main plot could involve the raiders, the battleship, of some major city in New Jersey or bordering it. Bonus points if you could through various actions become the leader of raider controlled Camden.
Was the E3 footage actually shown on an XB1, or just with an XB1 controller?
Is there a possibility what we saw was already shown with high res textures that Beth will be releasing separately, or am I being too pessimistic here
>mfw there's some sort of flying, fire-breathing deathclaw variant in the NJ Pine Barrens
That bomb had the dimensions of a tzar bomb so it was in the range of the tens of megatons. However it's probable most of the nuclear fuel inside decayed over time greatly reducing its effectiveness; after all 200 years passed since that bomb was dropped.
Vault-Tec dropped the first set of bombs. They were in cahoots with the Enclave, who supplied them with everything they needed/wanted, including weapons grade uranium/plutonium and FEV.
It's already been established that the Fallout world never saw anything on the scale of the Tsar Bomba. "Tactical" nukes were in the range of like 5-7 kilotons.
Makes sense that the Sole Survivor survived too.
"Who knows", but: just with an xbone controller. I can't see them showing off textures higher than what consoles will be receiving on launch.
I also don't see them offering an Ultra texture pack up front, but there might be one later if they get bored. Also, mods.
tbh the textures being presented are fine. This was never going to be Crysis.
>I also don't see them offering an Ultra texture pack up front
They released the Skyrim one two months after they released the base game. They might even do it more quickly this time around
>tfw growing up in Jersey I was horrified of the Jersey Devil
>tfw I'd close my eyes when we were driving through the pine barrens
It's a musket.
And, to answer your question, me. Really like the laser musket. My hope is that it's powerful enough to justify the cranking. Like, you get one shot, but damn does it hit hard.
>no adult or nude mods
did they actually say this, or merely imply it? In what context - for consoles, through their distribution system (bethesdanet), at all ever since the only way to apply mods will be through their distribution system...?
Also, what kind of mods would even be available for consoles? I can't see you choosing higher-res textures or script-heavy mods with set hardware
I think pirates can find a way, but they can definitely make it hard. For all the praise the devs (including Todd himself) have lavished on mods, they better not fuck this up for us
It's a musket. It shoots one shot at a time.
Just because it has a short barrel and some bullet spread doesn't make it a blunderbuss.
Trust me on this, I'm actually an 18th century time traveler
Fallout nukes are highly inefficient, the little slingshot nukes should kill the player outright simply because the range is too short. The fact that you cannot be killed by the blast unless you try shows how inefficient their nukes are.
Yeah, that's some good sound design. I could never get along with the railway rifle but I'm pretty sure I could jam with this for prolonged periods of time.
I'm just having a hard time accepting a laser primed with a hand-crank. Also I'm that guy who doesn't like the Minutemen cosplay so, y'know, hard sell.
What do you guys think life in Prewar China was like? Just before the end.
>mfw NMA and anti-Bethesda elitists are literally Lynette
>fires a 12.7x99mm depleted uranium cored round at MACH 7
>Implying Africa would have even noticed the resource shortage
>tfw haven't seen any modded laser/plasma capacitors or pistol/rifle receivers
the only one we've seen is the fucking pipe rifle receiver that makes it into a .45 revolver
Write something that would scare you if it happened when you first booted up Fallout 4.
>5 gig day one patch
>shit game mechanics
>it just works
>big superpower loses conventional war
>nothing stopping them from #yolo and launching their nuclear stockpile upon defeat
>nothing could stop a nation from doing this today
>people look at one more month waiting for F4
>am excited for Wasteland 2's Director's Cut in 2 days
>gonna enjoy the "Kopfkino" when creating my squad
>the prehistoric graphics will make F4 look even hotter
>>nothing could stop a nation from doing this today
Except the number of people that get in the way and the morality of the president. Wars, especially modern wars almost never end in outright annexation, if America hypothetically lost a war to China America as a nation would still exist, killing billions to prevent that defeat is retarded. It is like pulling the pin on a hand grenade because you are losing a fist fight. Furthermore nuclear launches go through several layers. Even assuming the president wants to launch the nukes and no one around him tries to stop him there is still the individual launch sites. A captain to an SSBN could simply ignore or refuse the order or the crewmen or officers seeing the retardation of such actions could mutiny and refuse the launch order.
Nukes are deterrent anyway, the whole point of having nukes is so that the other guys can't nuke you with impunity, nobody had intentions of starting a strategic nuclear war during the cold war under any circumstances.
>tfw it would literally take one narcissistic individual
>one person who takes every minor criticism as a direct attack
>one person famous for an extremely short temper and destructive reactions
Good thing that could never happen, right?
I mean, while I like the idea of you being able to go full laser weapon, full plasma weapon, or full on bullets, I'm kind of weary on it. I just don't see ammo conservation being a thing that you have to give a shit about in this game, since you can pretty much have each ammo type (except making normal rounds into shotgun ammo) do anything.
Maybe I'm just being petty, but I enjoyed having one type of weapon for each round so I can shuffle them around. I realize I can still do that, but if I'm picking up / making microfusion cells left and right, there's going to be that temptation to just make a laser sniper rifle, automatic rifle, and shotgun and do 90% of fights with those.
>a Dr. Strangelove situation
As opposed to a real cold war situation that occurred for years and is the reason there are like, 99 nukes just sitting around earth somewhere because they fell off planes?
My guess is that the cranking mechanism makes it so that it doesn't expend ammo. So basically it's an energy breeder, but degrades a bit every time you crank it until it breaks and you have to go build / find a new one.
Because it's an early game weapon, so I don't see it being very powerful, just useful in its own way (when you don't have much ammo for anything, but everything is weak as hell so you don't want to waste what ammo you have)
>crank it until it breaks and you have to go build / find a new one
This is what I assumed too.
Or maybe there's a microfusion cell on the interior of the mechanism, and each crank kick-starts a small reaction that floods the chamber with energy
>3 was a nightmare.
How? The only ammo I ever found myself running low on was .44 and .308, which made sense considering they were the two most powerful gun ammo types. Even then, there were plenty of ways to easily acquire more.
I really hope that the "fuel source power armor" is only a mechanic in very early game when you get your first suit, and that mid / late game you can either make or find a proper fuel source to keep power armor supplied with unlimited energy.
Because the whole concept of the brotherhood and Enclave kind of unravels when power armor only lasts 10 minutes. It would also just not feel right if power armor was relegated to a temporary power up instead of being a suit you can wear around freely end game, like in every previous Fallout.
I'm half-convinced it's a Metroidvania. You start with your shit-tier, short-lived suit, and part of accessing new areas in the game is finding parts to repair and upgrade the suit - get the jetpack so you can clear a jump, get the filters so you can enter the glowing sea, get the pressure valve so you can reach a sunken ship, etc. A late-game unlock to let you use it full-time fits right in.
Yep, all of that's true.
But then again, when has past games ever stopped Bethesda from doing something. Lorelol, and all that.
Muskets a shit. Minigun shredder THE build.
>I just don't see ammo conservation being a thing that you have to give a shit about in this game,
I hope you're wrong. I actually enjoyed going through the DC metro on my first ever unmodded Fallout 3 playthrough worrying about ammo, it was both creepy and tense, and validated my decision to not completely dump strength and put some skill points into melee (my first character was a mess). In any case, the end result was fun
As game designers, they have to balance "this sucks I can't do anything because I have no bullets but I really want to keep going where I'm going now instead of going elsewhere or back to town to get ammo" vs. "this sucks I have all the ammo in the world and nothing bothers me since I'll survive anyways"
But after Skyrim, where smithing your Iron/Steel weapon made it far better than any superior material you came across that you couldn't work (Glass, Orcish, Elven, etc.), I'm not sure they can balance this correctly
I dunno, nothing we can do yet and crankable Laser Musket does seem like a pretty cool concept.
I'm not really bothered about the power armor using a fuel source. What would really bother me is if it's treated like vampire lord/werewolf from Skyrim, where you can't do anything except fight when you're in it, not even pick up items or loot.
Would be amazing if the jetpacks were good enough to enable some vertical dungeon design once more. Morrowind had some neat locations in the temples etc. that you could only realistically reach with levitation, more of that please.
I want jetpack beatdowns
Power Fist + jetpack melee combo, rocket forward down the entire hall and slam their shit, slam through doors, slam everything!
I'll probably have to wait for mods
Besides Israel (who if they outright lose a defensive war actually would be destroyed as a nation most likely) no nations with notable stockpiles have leadership unstable enough to use nuclear weapons to prevent from losing a war. Sure North Korea might, and maybe Pakistan but neither of them are relevant. As I said it is like pulling the pin on a grenade in a fist fight. Nobody who comes to power in a major nation is dumb enough to do that.
On the bright side nuclear war wouldn't kill off humanity even when nuclear weapon stockpiles were at their peak. Granted billions would die, the climate would be heavily effected and background radiation would be higher than normal for like a thousand years, but humanity as a species would survive.
"A month ago there were twenty of us, yesterday there were 8, now we're five..."
"I'll help if I can."
d'you think one of the options will be "give me all your shit and i might not end you" or will it be forced friendliness cause it's an intro level
There is no fucking way you'd have to get out of the suit to loot and you're retarded if you think this is even a remote possibility
>"give me all your shit and i might not end you
tHa'ts pretty racist.
>that magazine on the desk
Note to self: Don't forget to steal.
>Being excited for this shitheap further rape of the Fallout series
It's all just CoD "Brah!" shit. I, Juan Carlos, AKA Walpknut, in my completely factual and true opinion, hereby state that anyone who enjoys Bethesda games in any form are literally jizz-guzzling idiots. Fallout is deader than Ed at the entrance of Vault 13. I only play 1, 2, and NV. That's middle ground enough to have a completely un-biased and true opinion on Shitout 3. It's garbage and anyone who enjoyed it should immediately off themselves because they're an idiot for enjoying dumbed down trash. I sure as hell ain't buying 4, and anyone who even remotely thinks it is considered Fallout is just a drooling idiotic CoD cunt with no taste.
NMA is literally the only real place with any taste left. All of you are just a bunch of kids if you're excited for what I like to call "Rage 2". Don't even come near my presence if you think about calling this abomination "Fallout 4". My art I draw on my Deviantart page easily outshines anything these fucking mentally broken retards at Bethesda scrabbles on their "Concept art". I could code a better game in my sleep. What a fucking waste of a good franchise. I'm sorry for humanity's crimes against your beautiful series, Sawyer. Rest in Peace, Fallout. I hope everyone at Bethesda dies a horrible death for raping you. I'll be sure to hashtag #FalloutIsDead on each and every further one of my tweets from now on.
If any of you have common sense you should all quit talking right now, stop posting these stupid 3D Shitout game pictures and talking about Shithesda's abortion and go talk with the REAL intellectuals at NMA.
>"FUCK YOU *Beep*-ck"
>"Just long enough to be "Hancock"
>Hancock the Pirate Ghoul confirmed for betraying you in the first act
Okay dude. We get it. You don't like NMA and its members are comically petty.
Joke's running thin.
Husbando, because my first character will always be a jack-of-all-trades self-insert so I can experience a bit of everything and know what is and isn't possible for future roleplay playthroughs. I've already got some specific character builds, but I won't be using them the first time through.
Think I could run it on ultra?
also graphics card is 6gb no idea why it says 2
It'd kind of a big dam. Cars for scale.
It's pretty crazy how we did it, too. The concrete still hasn't set.
>different kinds of ammo
eeeeh no sorry. the game is build around the ammo converter, a tool that converts the "standard ammo" for each gun.
so there is only 1 ammo type basically and each gun uses a different amount of it. sorry to tell you. confirmed already.
I just realized how hard you can potentially extend this with mods
Like, at the moment of writing
You could import multiple custom 3D meshes and textures for custom parts and put them together in custom recipes
You could make the recipes complex and multi-stage, like put 4 parts together to make the "engine" portion of an energy weapon, and then use that part in another recipe
Since you can do this with power armor, I'm sure someone will write an adventure where the end objective is to assemble some monstrous half-mech thing out of dozens of parts, each part will be assembled out of constituent subcomponents, because complexity for complexities' sake
>Hey - you. You see that Laser Musket on the ground? Pick it up and head inside.
When the PC is picking it up you can see microfusion cells next to his feet.
