An anon had posted something awhile back when it released, and I thought it was a nice little write up so I'm gonna post it again. I don't know how much this changed, but I played the beta and I had the same reaction he did, although I never played Watch Dogs. It's a feeling I get with most multiplayer games these days though, it's like that feeling of having thriving population and community for games and even mods have all but disappeared. 10 years past half life 1's release there were tons of mods being played daily, but not so much anymore. I'll copy paste it in my next post.

I didn't like the lack of dedicated servers because it would reduce the community experience.
I didn't like matchmaking for the same reason.
I didn't like the lack of classes for the same reason.
I didn't like the lack of voice chat for the same reason.
I didn't like the lack of text chat after and between rounds for the same reason.
And I didn't like the lack of an in-game map for the same reason, , since you can never see or understand what your teammates are doing.
I finally realized what's wrong with all of this.
And it made me think of Ubisoft, and the weird multiplayer modes of Watch Dogs.
See, Watch Dogs is a single player game, but sometimes it turns invisibly into a multiplayer game as your gaming session is invaded by other people and suddenly you're playing hide and seek or something with a clever human.
So Watch Dogs is a singleplayer game that feels surprisingly like a multiplayer game, which is really cool.
With Battlefront, DICE has done the opposite.
They've created a multiplayer game that feels surprisingly like a singleplayer game.
The people I'm playing Battlefront with and against have no communication, no individuality, no personalization, it's just a crowd of deaf mutes running around bumping into one another.
The autopilot of the AT-AT's didn't bother me because it made sense, but now I see that the whole game feels like that.
It's really boring.
And that's sad
Because every player might as well be a bot in this game.
$60 is a lot to pay to feel lonely.

With the bot update I might be able to have fun with this but not with only one game mode (It also doesn't help that the ai instantly destroys walkers on co-op). The game just wouldn't be worth the space on my harddrive.
But free dlc (or eventually giving out free dlc) is always a good thing. Almost nice job EA, even if this is just a marketing stunt for your next game.

I wish there was a way to communicate with EA that Monopolizing servers and making games unmoddable isn't good for the game in question.

Yet If I post it on any EA forum I'd get told off by fanboys or people who don't understand what I'm talking about. ("Battlefield/Battlefront was never moddable, so I don't get what you're complaining about", or "yeah it would be nice but I'd prefer they stop cheaters first", or some stupid shit like that)

Okay. Let's roll with it. We're talking a ball of electrons being loogied out of a gun, right? You'd need a fuckton of electrons being fired out at an incredible velocity for recoil. I'm not sure how you'd strip and contain enough electrons in one place. Once it left the gun it would just discharge into the immediate area and ruin everything. The gun's magnetic field to keep it contained would be so strong it would rip the blood out of your veins. If it shot a tiny magnetic pellet to contain the electrons again we run into such extreme levels of magnetism that everything around it, even if it's not normally magnetic, would be drawn magnetically to it.

I mean I know it's sci-fi but if we want recoil from a laser weapon, ejected mass in the form of the projectile isn't the right tree to bark up.

I actually like both of these ideas. The first one I can almost see being a thing to explain recoil in a laser rifle.
