Which brand is the best for gaming? MSI? Asus? Dell? HP?
>>
>>390011821
asus rog is okay
>>
Just get a MBP and forget about gaymen on a laptop.
>>
They can fit a 1060 in a laptop this thin, and it doesn't have too much of a GAYMER design to it. That means you can actually take it places without looking like too much of a tool.
>>
>>390011821
Don't buy a gayming laptop, fag. Buy a middle of the road laptop at $700 max which can play some games, then buy a decent desktop when you stop being poor.
>>
>>390011821
Brand barely matters.
It's all about the specs and build-quality.

That being said, Asus, MSI and Lenovo have made some of the best machines in past few years, while also keeping the price at reasonable level.
Dell of all things also just recently released this G4560 + MX150 (=GT 1030) laptop, which is not only very affordable at 600 bucks, but also can run majority of major games out there smoothly.

this desu 

can't get a 1080Ti in a laptop anyway
>>
>>390011821
Asus' big gaming laptops are pretty good in my experience, but they're more portables than laptops.

>>390012449
>and it doesn't have too much of a GAYMER design to it.
But how is the cooling? Gaming laptops look a certain way for a reason.

>>390011907
>spend more for less
>>
>>390011821
Unless you absolutely need a laptop, build a desktop instead. Even a mid range dekstop and cheap laptop would probably be a better choice. But to answer you question, it just depends on the model. In general, MSI and Asus are usually safe picks. I have a dell gaymen laptop and I'm pretty happy with it.
>>
razer blade cooling is great.

Shame their customer support is trash. Getting replacement rubber feet apparently necessitates sending in the whole thing
>>
>>390012838
you can, however, get GTX 1070 and i7, which is more than enough for most people.
>>
>>390011821
Just get a 4000 dollar alienware man
>>
>>390014883
But it's not 4K 120fps on a 1080p, 60Hz, 17-inch screen!
>>
>>390015441
1080p is already an overkill on a 17" screen.
>>
>>390015583
It definitely isn't. 720p is noticeably worse for things like text.
>>
>>390015621
>implying there aren't any other settings between 720p and 1080p
I literally own a bit older Asus ROG laptop with 1080p 17" screen, and the first thing I did was to switch the resolution to 1600x900, just to make things easier to read. Visual impact was literally nonexistent.

My typical travel craptops have a mere 1366x768 resolution screens, and it looks fine even when mirrored to a 40" 1080p television.
>>
>>390015863
That just makes it not as crisp to me. Maybe I just have better eyesight?
>>
I use a Thinkpad with an eGPU with no problems.
>>
>>390011821
Don't ever buy MSI, the base eventually starts chipping off because of it's cheap Chinese manufacturing. Get an ASUS ROG instead, they're built much better.
>>
get a lenovo
>>
>>390011821
I've heard the best value for your money is to build your own computer. Maybe a similar thing is out there for laptops.
>>
>>390016086
I just hate reading font that looks like size 7 on a normal screen. Also, check your ClearType font settings.
>>
>>390011821
I like the look of the new Asus ones. Chunky but with lots of ventilation, look like they'll last a while.
>>
>>390017294
You wanted a gaming laptop for something you lug around all day and need to use in class?
>>
Don't game on a laptop

ffs
>>
>>390011821
Probably Asus but I'm sure any of them would do if you could find the right deal on the right specs.
Except HP. Screw those guys.
>>
>>390017434
Really, a little atom thing would do the job.
>>
>>390017761
>>390017434
>>390017294
Yeah, get a cheap, small portable with good battery life, basically the opposite of a gaming laptop and spend what you saved on a desktop for gaming.
>>
>>390011907
The new Macbook Pro is terrible.
even Applefags hate it.

The fact that chinks can copy Apple and make better products for half the price says volumes.

>Spending $700+ for a laptop with components that get hot as fuck that'll overheat and fry in less than a year in heavy daily use
>When you can get a refurbished prebuilt with an i5 or better with 8GB of ram for less than $200 and put a $150 GTX 1050 ti in it and run everything on high settings at 50fps or higher, Also with the bonus of not melting from daily use

Second option leaves $450 for a laptop that will run firefox and word without gaming gimmicks to overheat it. You gotta be smart with your money OP.

>buy an ultrabook
>usually cheaper
>light, thin, decent battery life
>doesn't make you look like a manchild
>good enough for modern gaming on low when away from your desktop
>when it becomes outdated you still have a light machine that's perfectly good for what it's built for
>>

>>

It's like the guy's never seen 4chan before.
>>
>>390017837
Pretty much. If it's coming to class, it should be light, have a touchscreen, and a battery that lasts all day. Gaming laptops are heavy, have panels you can't take notes on, and the battery lasts an hour or two.
>>
If money is of no concern, Alienware

If you're poor peasant, get one of the gaming acers, just don't put them on your crotch or you'll go sterile, or anythign flammable if your house has no insurance..

if money is no concern just hire a chauffeur that drives your PC around and sets it up for you where ever you go.
If you have a lot of money you buy a nice desktop setup with a lot of monitors and a nice ultrabook for travel.
When are you going to need x2 1080s in a fucking Starbucks or in a hotel or on a plane?

>>390012449
MSI typically have issues with cooling (e.g. how uneven they're distributed within)

My advice for laptops is to use one of these vacuum coolers instead of the usual cooling pad (or just use them both). It works better and shaves off around 3-5 C more, ymmv.

I buy a new Alienware laptop every year. Poorfag kikes who clip coupons to save shekels always get triggered by Alienware. If you like triggering manlet kike faggot numales I recommend Alienware, also they're good laptops and I've never had a problem with them besides the said kikes.

there are custom laptop building services, but the prices are a bit counter-intuitive in this regard. You can literally buy better laptops than you can build.

Well it's basically >>390018287 where you actually settle down for a while at a time but needs to have it movable for some reason.
It's for one of those cases where you move around semi-frequently and saves you the trouble of lugging a PC+monitor on a car or through airports.
Or just being a "gaymer" hipster.
>>
>>390019775
don't just take my word, do your own research.
the 2017 model is pretty new so reviews should be pretty recent.

Also a lot of sites may mistake it for the 2016 model which has a 940mx, you can easily differentiate them because only the 2017 model has a fingerprint reader.

I have a job that requires me to travel a lot and fly overseas often between work and family. And there was 0 chance of me trusting airlines or anyone with international transport of a desktop. So I got a Lenovo one of the Y series for $600~700 3 years ago and it runs every game fine including this year titles.

>currently have a decent mid-high gaming rig in the dorm that was moved effortlessly with no damage
>don't even stick around campus long because nothing to do beyond studying
>wind up not even gaming much anyway due to spending more time working on scholarships than video games
>classes are literally 10 minutes apart from each other so no reason to have a gaming laptop since it's just 4 hours of the day in class

Seriously, for the price you could get a cheap gaming laptop, you could buy a cheapass chromebook to take notes and watch Netflix on in between classes and build a decent mid-range rig with the rest.

That and gaming laptops are typically fucking massive and loud unless you spend nearly $2000 on a thin one that instead just burns a hole in everything due to lack of ventilation.
