Where my odonghs/herb brides at?
>>389973892
welp, I just can't make these threads stick. So I'll talk about my idea which I mentioned previous thread for bump's sake. Trying to find a particular dialog in Pathologic is just a pain in the ass imo so I want to turn Pathologic's main.dat file (where game's script is) into an interactive website, obviously every dialog has an ID attached which defines which character we are talking to who we are and the dialog number for putting things in order so extracting them shouldn't be too hard. I'm not promising anything of course. It's just an idea so far. I'm pretty sure somebody tinkered with main.dat before so any insight would be welcome.
>>389975187
I like this idea, but my autism isn't nearly weaponized enough to help you.
>Pathologic is literally the only game that I would want to have some merchandise of
>Some nice executor statue, tragedian mask or a poster
>There is fucking nothing
Haruspex truly is the best protagonist
>>389975721
If I'm not mistaken IPL is planning to sell merch then again you can always make one for yourself.
Just started Haruspex playthrough, only played Bachelor before. Any tips? I've finished day 1, had to sell almost all of my equipment to not die from hunger and stock up on some food.
>>389975187
Oh, I remember you from yesterday.
The idea is great, but obviously it would be quite challenging and tedious to do.
>obviously every dialog has an ID attached
I wouldn't be so sure about that. I'll check what it looks like, but I seem to remember that it's just blocks of text. The references that tell the game where to look for the right lines are probably in some xml files.
>I'm pretty sure somebody tinkered with main.dat
Sure, but there's not much to see there. You could even edit it with notepad, but again, it's just heaps of text (and the nulls for some strange reason).
But you'll definitely want to talk to Vlad; he might still have the tools he used back then, when working on the translation.
>>389975860
>>IPL is planning to sell merch
>Pathologic gets official merch
>It turns out to beFunko Pop™
Also, could you post that polyhedron pic?
>>389976434
here you go
>>389975187
Follow your dream anon. Make a Pathologic in browser, where you have an interactive map with all Bound and their indexed and timed dialogues for every day
>>389976695
Thanks.
>>389975187
>>389975982
See, this is what main.dat looks like. It's horrifying.
I'm sure there's a way to extract something useful out of this, but I don't have the programming knowledge to do so.But please don't abandon your idea, it would be an awesome project.Honestly, you could even try sending IPL an email to explain your idea, and see if they send you the script. They surely kept a master file of alphyna's translation.
>>389977685
I'll probably send them an email, main.dat shown from notepad is just horrendous of course but I'm much more interested in hex values and structure of the file which pointed out in this program's GitHub page.

Hey steppe-bro, you're a cheeky actor using my screenshot. Better not let the dogheads or the half-souls find out.
>>389975251
Vlad might be the man to ask?
>>389978927
Elder or Younger?
>>389975968
Remember where you're safe. Remember your strengths. Haruspex can be played sympathetically or cold bloodedly. Decide the type of man you'll be and stick to it.
>>389979124
Chanpostingovsky.
>>389978706
you should be ashamed for killing of herb brides like that actor.I chuckled to your screenshot though
>>389976434
Proper Albino models would be nice.

The earth was hungry.

decode_keys.py seems like it would do the trick, but I don't know shit about Python. Do I run the file from command prompt ? And I'd have to install Python first.
>The string ID serves to identify it in the NPC dialog tree. The dialog tree is presumably baked into the game executable.
Looks like you'll have to reverse engineer the whole game.
If all else fails, there's always the proper, old fashioned way : play the game and manually write down all the dialogue on paper.Don't actually this, you might go mad.
>>389973892
still patiently waiting for the remake/pathologic 2/whatever it is now
it's one of 3 games i've kickstarted, the other two being massive disappointments
but even though it's been in development for a long time I'm still really optimistic about pathologic 2, it looks good and i get the feeling that ice pick lodge really cares about the game
>>389980505
Yeah you should run it from cmd. There are instructions on readme in GitHub. This one works with Python 2.7 I think.and who said I'm not mad already, I'm seeing stuff since I stepped into Gorkhon's waters.
>>389980707
>>389980707
Which others did you contribute to? I was disappointed with Dreamfall Chapters, Torment: Tides of Numenera was ok. Knock-knock was fine and Stasis was pretty good.
>>389982007
>Dreamfall Chapters
I'm still mad.
>>389973892
Guys, I wanna play pathologic in a toaster. What version should I get?
>>389982297
u wot m8
>>389982297
Classic HD, I guess? It's $3.24 at GOG right now.
>>389973892
Anybody on here who can post mega of the Pathologic GOG wallpapers?
This is an excellent idea, lemme poke around in the files a little to see if I can help. I've some experience with extracting text fromjapanese porn powerpoints.
>>389982449
There's only 4 of them, I could just post them in the thr...
>5241 x 2948
>5mb for a single jpg
Well nevermind then.
Here you go, Pahthologic Classic Hd wallpapers from gog.

>>389985057
fair enough. no sense performing CPR on a corpse.
i managed to solve my problem with the 'windows media video 8 codec' making the game not launch.i just had to uninstall my k-lite codec pack. all sorted now. also you can get the game cheap on GOG right now and you get the original pathologic free with it.
>>389985331
>>389985057
This requires the gentle hands of a surgeon. STAND ASIDE!
Could someone give me a loose spoiler free rundown on this game? i've seen a few posts here and there about it and it looks quite different.
>>389985601
Glad to hear it's working now. I hadn't thought it could be an issue with k-lite as I've got it installed as well and the game working successfully.
>>389985891
You play as one of three healers over the course of 12 days in a town ravaged by plague.
Posting best girl
>>389985601
Glad to hear that.
>>389985891
Here, read this.
>>389975721
I guess the mask issimple enough to make a shitty counterpart from paper mache.
>>389985891
Oh fuck... this is the tricky bit.
Twelve days in a town overrun by plague. You play one of three very different healers and get caught up in the traditions, politics and mysteries of the town and its people. It has pretty harsh survival elements and a bizarre story.
where do I find Sticky on day 2
>>389986776
Playing as which character?
>>389986978
bach
>>389986776
I'm pretty sure he's in here, tucked away between the buildings. You can get a shmowder off him if you play your cards right I think.
>>389981157
>>389978293
Got it working, this is pretty neat !
I take back what I said, it's actually very organised.
This looks a lot more doable now. I suppose the IDs of these strings can be found somewhere in the xml files.

So is Pathologic 2 just the new name of the remake of the original/HD game?
How is everyone feeling about that project should I play the original or wait for this to come out?
>>389987502
>BWV 565 starts playing
>>389987716
Yes, it's the same thing just renamed.
Seems like it's shaping up to be considerably different, but it's hard to tell at this stage. You might take a stab at the original (go for Classic HD) and see if you can handle it, if you can't then you won't lose too much in waiting.
>>389987506
Oh, I'm not the OP.I'd gladly help, though.
He seems to have figured this part out already, I was just messing around with Python to get the same results.
This is basically the whole script of the game, dialogues and letters and all; but there's still no way to tell where each string comes from.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7eIjqpMJ-L8
Is it possible to get "18. Stvorki disease" track in game?
It seems like it would be plagued steppe, but there is no such thing, is it?
>>389988091
I don't suppose there's the option to simply email IPL and ask if they've got a copy of the script lying around somewhere, is there? They might have some reservations about handing it over to randoms from the internet, though.
>>389988026
Cool, I'll give it a go. I usually enjoy games along these lines and the story and visuals and story kind of remind me of Tarkovsky and Strugatsky.
>>389988713
Good luck. Refer to >>389986610 if you want some beginner tips, it's not the most hand-holding of games.
>>389987175
thanks, I found him
and found the first infected people in the house, holy fuck this is way scarier than marble nest was
post fanart
Would you guys say Pathologic qualifies for the "magical realism" mark? It's a genre I very much enjoy, but it's exceeding hard to get it right and sometimes devolves into mild urban fantasy.
>>389988479
The music is definitely in the game. From memory, I think it plays in the factory district ?
But that's strange, because Stvorki is the atrium district.
>>389989975
>>389988479
The music does play in the very intro scene of the children's burial.

That's "andrei kabak", not "stvorki disease".
