compared to most fighting games it still has a healthy roster, new enough gameplay and some moderate new content, it's really only bad in comparsion to how robust mvc3 was. Probably not gonna buy it for full price either tho.

3v3 was cool for the depth and strategy element to it, as well as the thrill of fighting an unconventional team, e.g. someone using a character normally reserved for anchor on point instead, as well as the longer and more chaotic matches, but I can appreciate 2v2 because it means that if you just want to play a character then you don't have to worry about having to build a team around it. That is, you can more easily just bounce between pairs and play whomever you want in every fight which you definitely couldn't do in 3, even when playing casually. This will probably give it a bit more longevity for couch casual matches, as some of the most fun playing TvC and vs. games leading up to MvC2 for me was using different teams every match which I definitely couldn't do in 3 and to a lesser extent 2.

Still, the other bullshit surrounding this game means that I'm going to wait until it's at most half price to pick up used.

IJ2 has an insane amount of budget pumped into it. Characters have over 30 minute of dialogue just for their intros, all with high quality mocap and polish.

The difference is that WB owns both NRS and the DC movies and they actually funded IJ2.

Opposite to popular believs Disney/Marvel doesn't fund MvCI, but only provide a minimal amount of advertisement for it. Even with Alladin, it was Capcom who seeked the opportunity to get rights to make games based on popular franchises, but they weren't commissioned to do them and don't get paid to do them.

MvC3 had a big budget but even with all the advertisement and hype the game only sold 2 million copies so it's questionable how profitable it was when most big budget fighters sold between 3 to 5 millions.

Everyone sees it as lazyness or greedyness but them holding back budget on MvCI was probably a good decision. If only they wouldn't fucked up the PR so bad the game wouldn't be nearly this bad reception.

I've meant the cinematic scenes, not the gameplay. There is an insane amount of them in the game, have perfect lipsync and good facial animations. Just making these could easily costed more than SFV's and MvCI's whole budget together.
