Canon is pretty important to enjoyability anon, don't like "fun"fags tell you otherwise. It's the same reason all those shitty anime movies are so much worse than the series' they're from even though they are just copy pasting the exact formula used in the series.

Finding out what happens next is the driving force behind enjoying any good story. If you're reading something that is established to not matter then there is absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying it less because of that.

That said, why were these so rare. They were the most fun encounters, evne for modern standards. I dont know how but the AI was really good at managing to disappear before you could pinpoint where they shot form. Was really impressive. But no, you get one quite early and then when you are almost done with the game they put in another encounter.
