The timing is difficult for people that aren't familiar with "real" action games. Western action games are babymode, and slower paced games like Souls and MH are much more lenient with their defensive options. People familiar with parrying attacks in fighting games and games like DMC3 and DMC4 find MKH's parry timing normal, though.

When you get bored of MKH's circle of enemy spawns, you should check out Fairy Bloom Freesia next. It's another better indie JP action game.

The next and final step out of the baby realm is fighting games. I recommend third strike on fightcade. You can parry dumb A.I in single player games all day but it still means nothing.

It's reaaally worth playing. It's basically like if you want a pretty, flashy action game with cute 3D schoolgirl waifus, then MKH is your game. If you want a more engaging gameplay experience, though, you have to play FBF.

1. probably on an easier difficulty, where enemies are less aggro
2. the player starts off with a pretty broken (and free?) large aoe ranged attack, that trivializes trash mob fighting.

The new project by MKH devs, SkyLens, is looking to be decent. Shame it's no longer 3D.

The new project by FBF devs, Sakuna, though, is looking fucking ridiculous. They've got the $$$ to improve their visuals, and it's shaping up to be aesthetically beautiful. And of course, the gameplay looks as crisp/solid as usual. High tier devs.

If we're shilling 2D stylish action games, try out Rainblood Chronicles Mirage. One dude pretty much plays like a 2D Vergil
