This, along with a combination of plenty of shit to play finally, and announcing Battlefront 2 will have free DLC while BF1 is still on premium. Instead of spending 50 on Premium, you could just pay 10 more and tax for a new game with continuous map and weapon additions.
Ontop of the setting not letting them add too many weapons, and they already stretched it heavily. You unlock everything so fast with very little customization.

Got around 100 stars with the Marksman and I can tell you the factory version is better for longer ranges due to its faster recoil reset. Marksman is better for spamming those 5 rounds

It's the perfect way of balancing a game like this, and it's realistic too.

It's the best kind of rng. Like I said, you either choose automatics and risk jams, or pick something that fires much slower but won't jam. There is no "i suck at game" type of guns here. You have to git gud or you risk dying. It would also force people to use rifles more often. Besides if your main jams, you can always go with your sidearm so it wouldn't be too annoying.

I mean for fucks sake if not make it in the main game then why not make hardcore use this mechanic? At least would make Hardcore feel like a game mode of it's own instead of being just Core with no huds and less health.

A mechanic like that just doesn't fit into an arcadey game like the BF series, all it does is add unnecessary frustration. And no, just not using auto weapons is not a method of playing around it. You balance weapons through conventional methods, such as recoil, effective ranges and such, not a random coinflip on wether your gun decides to shit the bed and you lose the exchange

It's a reasonably interesting idea for a much slower, arma-style game, that much I'll admit. You'd have to balance every weapon around it though, and allow for counterplay- terrain affecting degradation differently, as you've mentioned, and some kind of maintenance mechanic to get your weapons back up to speed

The classes are all best suited to specific ranges, Assaults are amazing up close but their weapons are fucking awful at mid-long range

supports do decent at mid with bipods

then medics can do mid and long range quite well with scouts being the obvious long range specialists

It was a pretty fun game for like 30 hours, but got bored after unlocking all the sniper guns. Haven't bothered with any of the DLC. Didn't bother reinstalling after I upgraded to win 10. I'll probably never play it again to be honest. Don't feel like installing origin or whatever not steam thong they force you to download. Same goes for Overwatch.
