I started to play Ys in March this year. Best Ys games to start: Ys Origin and the PS2 version of Ark (The PC is decent but PS2 is better overall).

Chronological order of the games is:
Origin -> 1 -> 2 -> 4 -> 3 -> 5 -> 8 -> 6 -> 7
Don't play it in that order, the stories are mostly standalone. Start with 1 and 2, skip them if you can't get into them, then go to Oath in Felghana and Origin.

We know nothing about the competence of the port so no one knows whether you'll be able to run it on a crappy GPU.

It's expensive because NISA thinks they can capitalize on a dedicated fanbase that was slowly built up over the past several years in the west. And also probably because that's the price for it on the PS4 as well and price parity isn't exactly out of the ordinary.

Not remotely. XSeed has demonstrated a willingness to patch their games and try to keep them working on as wide a range of hardware as possible. NISA introduces game breaking bugs in localization and bans you for complaining about them. I'm not upset it's not XSeed working on the game, I'm upset that we've got a bunch of incompetents working on it.

I'm probably gonna pass on this for now since the demo left me cold. Seven and Celceta were alright but it just felt off in Dana. I think part of it might be that I played them on handhelds and the party system just feels jank on a bigger platform like PS4 but the Vita version is gimped this time around so fuck that. Could also be that the formula's just getting old.
