Ironically its because they pushed MCorrin too much to the point that they pushed him as the Fates default Lord, period. This backfired because of the way that Fates was written to overfocus on Hoshido, it made Corrin's choice in Conquest incomprehensible.

It wasn't helped that Hoshidan characters are so boring.
