I made 3 different attempts to make it through and ragequit afterwards.

If I didn't have to run through so much shit to get there it probably wouldn't be bad

If Midir is causing you trouble then I am calling your skill as a gamer into serious question. Even Epicnamebro was able to get Midir down quite effortlessly.

Equip a shield with good fire resistance and even better, infuse the shield with fire to increase it's fire-deflecting properties and you can just chug your way through the fire.

Midir is one of those bosses that will become nightmarish when you summon for it. I had to stop putting my sign down at Ringed City Inner Wall because I got tired of hosts summoning a full party for Midir and then getting wiped because he becomes wild and unpredictable as fuck with summons.

There are a lot of situations where he will keep standing in the Mercury but it's impossible to hit his head, like when he's standing up shooting fire, when he's rapidly jumping backwards and forwards (often the tip of his tail or one of his legs will be in the cloud still even as he jumps around) or when you would need to be dodge rolling. No wonder I beat him. Took me thirty-ish tries and I finally beat him by also re-specing for HP and strength while using artorius set and wolf knight great sword. Easily one of the hardest fights in the game, would be harder if the path to him was more annoying like everything in dark souls 2 and it's DLC.

Mine are a lot faster but I've pretty much stopped trying to fight people during invasions at all. I just go for shenanigans with the obscuring ring or silvercat ring and it seems to work most of the time. I've learned to leave actual fights for the arena.

I liked the Lothric High Wall drake because it rewarded both deciciveness and caution. I also love Lothric Castle in general for that Boletaria feel. There are some meh things about Dark Souls 3 but I really like the castle design.

If you know the way the first Lothric drake operates you can just book it up the stairs without getting burned at all. The other, the cautious way, is to observe what triggers him to breathe fire above and what below, and then move to the opposite direction after baiting it. So kind of like the very first Demon's Souls bridge drake.

Then there's the cheese way a.k.a plinking him with a million arrows until he flies away.
