When I first played, I installed the HDTP (HD texture pack) and Deus Ex New Vision. Then I went into the settings in game and turned off the HDTP character models since I think they're kinda ugly.

I was about to do a playthrough of Revision mod, never heard of GMDX.
How do they stack up compared to one another?

Revision is a mod that at best makes the game prettier and at worst ruins the level design.
GMDX is basically vanilla DX but better in l i t e r a l l y every way, meaning it's not as pretty but the best way to play the game.

GMDX is fine for a first playthrough. It only adds a stamina bar for some reason and perks that are most of the time pretty useless.
The mod only makes cosmetic changes to the levels. GMDX also doesn't use those hideous "HD" models that some mods use.

GMDX plays nothing like vanilla. Enemies are way more aggressive, to the point where it feels like they are trying to force you to play the game with stealth. They also fuck around with weapon and aug balance in ways that vary from good to completely retarded. Overall, it didn't feel very polished.

The enemies move faster, react faster and have more dangerous weapons like PS20s which are basically LAW rockets. They are more aggressive in every conceivable way. Killing one guy from 100 meters with a silencer pistol will instantly let enemies know where you are as long as there is someone near the dead guy. They don't even have to be facing in your direction.

sounds like stalker except the AI takes pot shots at you with a shit silenced makarov behind bushes at the same distance and fucks your shit up.
100m sounds right too since that game is in metric. distance is fine but i still struggle with weight conversion for some reason.
