If I had to guess, it has to do with the success with the Wii. You combine the nearly identical architecture which gave hackers half a decade of work already practically completed so they could spend time working on other things, coupled with the Wii's low price point and overwhelming popularity. The massive amount of documentation leading to hackers being able to breach Nintendo's entire server infrastructure even into different consoles and handhelds pretty much fucked them over in a big way.
Basically, their constant attempts at saving money are costing them money, whereas their competitors overspend on every aspect and ban you if you even have a dream about hacking their consoles.

Already have breath of the wild, what other games should I be looking into besides the obvious?
I haven't really played much Nintendo games except Pokemon since the GC era. I really wish they would release the new monster hunter in English or MHW for switch.

Also do you guys ever play in docked mode? I just think why would you? The ultimate comfy would most likely be leaning the console on your blanket/pillow sitting on your lap while leaning back in bed with the joycons detached.

Xenoblade X took so long because they had to make an entirely new engine, but now they can just reuse it for 2.
