The game throws the children's book about the two princes in your face at every corner. It was his younger brother, the other prince who came to rule. He wasn't banished, the royal ancestors denied his succession to the throne and Ardyn threw a hissy fit, leaving the kingdom for centuries until his return in Kingsglaive.

Not really. Ardyn tells us plain as day that Noctis was the crystal's second choice after him. Bahamut tells us plain as day what the crystal's chosen is meant to do. And yet, Ardyn is still alive and the starscource is still around. This tells us Ardyn didn't do his duty at all. He probably absorbed the deamons into himself because he thought that was an alternative solution to his destiny to martyr himself. He was wrong and got rejected by the crystal for it.

While it is not terrible, it has its faults that people like to blow up. Pacing, voice acting as though it's a 90's anime dub sans Ardyn, Regis and Luna- and the ending that just dragged on and on and on. Lots of flash, no substance and the rebel sub plot that just kinda happened without firmly rooting itself in the overall plot.

But that's simply my take on it. I want to say the most enjoyable parts were Ardyn's speech and the long standing dialog scenes like the party.

Is Episode Prompto worth the buy? I've been on the fence about just watching it after how lackluster Gladio was. And the "stealth" looks like unnecessary tedium when blowing through MTs with a gun and knife seems just as effective. I didn't buy the season pass for this very reason.
