Why is Swadia so utter shit?

I don't get it.

Because, due to their central position, they're more likely to find themselves fighting a war on multiple fronts. Poor success in war disgruntles the nobles, and Harlaus tries to rectify the situation by throwing feasts, which in turn keeps Swadian armies off the field, giving them an even harder time holding on to their territory.

Does any mod let me utterly raze towns and cities to the ground so that they disappear from the game? I want to exterminate the sandroaches

I started fuckign around, seeing other kingdoms and stuff. I tried to get other missions but I didn't know how. I wanted to join the army but I couldn't becuase of "muh low renown". I got gangraped by mountain bandits and slavers in multiple occasions. I could defeat them and fend them off easily at first but eventually I ran out of men and money and ended up with literally nothing, running away from angry horses into the nearest city.
Just HOW do you play this game?

Personally I start by killing bandits and participating in the arena/tournaments so that I can get stronger with a chance to earn money, other people may just prefer to play nobles straight from the beginning

You could try investing in local businesses so you can get a steady flow of income, allowing you to support a larger army long term. Also, the higher tier troops can cost a lot, sometimes double the cost per week and they're certainly not worth 2 troops one tier below them, so don't feel you have to upgrade them as soon as possible especially if you don't have that much cash, this is mainly a concern for the top tier troops though.

Then go kill Sea Raiders for their loot.

Google "Warband Stable Party" and start collecting a throng of 5-10 followers that will level with you and serve as the backbone of your army. They also learn skills so you can specialize your lord while having your followers max all the camp skills.

Learn what missions to take, and what missions to avoid (as well as trouble areas / paths), for example, i believe Warcheg (Vaegir) is always teeming with Sea Raiders, so don't take a mission to escort someone to Warcheg, or find a villain in or around Warcheg.

Visit Taverns regularly and ask for rumors and information about goings-on in the world. Keep an ear out for Tournaments and attend literally everyone you can starting out, this gives you both renown (higher you score the higher the renown) as well as the ability to bet on yourself to make some pretty serious coin very quickly (assuming you are skilled at the combat).

Sounds like you didn't start as a Noble though, which is basically 'Hard Mode' (with non-noble Woman being 'hardest') so i'm not surprised you got stomped.

Basically just git gud at the combat and reap renown / gold at tournies.

I forget too are shit like the Dye / Wool / Wine businesses from a mod or were they in Vanilla?

Also, utilize formations and battlefield tactics, don't just scrum your enemies. Position Archers / Crossbowman on highground, organize your infantry into shielded / polearm and utilize them as you would imagine (protect archers / counter charges).

Cycle your charges too if you end up with Lance Knights / Mamlukes as Couched Lances is basically a 1 hit kill and usually enemy formations are loose enough to quickly pull your charging cavalry through, but if they stay too long they easily get surrounded, bogged down and killed.

It's a really fucking great game man i swear. Only legitimately shit thing is random fucking arrows / javs out of nowhere taking 90% of your HP early on.

If combat is really kicking your ass early, make a Horse Archer lord till around level 10-15, then you can become a melee beast.
