I've played nearly every classic RPG you can think of, but I can count the ones I've actually beaten on one hand.

I've bought all my consoles day one full priced since I got a job.

If you have patience--anki, a pad of paper, and lots of ink in your pen, should give you a decent start.

If you don't have patience, but you do have a little bit of cash (10k,) you can take an intensive Japanese lesson here in Japan. It's about 6-7k a YEAR, then factor in some costs for food and rent, it should be around 10-13k. Really not bad imo. Works really well if you teach on the side (20-30$/hr)

As for what *I* did? During summer break in my first year studying Japanese intensively, I finished the entire RTK book, which took roughly 2months. Then I read books, wrote essays (which were really, really trash,) did lots of kanji mining (playing a game/reading mango and keeping flashcards of all the words you didn't know,) and basically fail fucked my way through the language.

I'm highly fluent at the moment, but there's always room to improve. For example, during meetings, we're expected to take down key points and explain them to another group, but I find a lot of details (remembering how to write a specific kanji while trying to listen what's being said) can throw me off hard.

So yeah you, among everyone else, will always be improving their language, and this is normal for all of them. It's just a steady, slowly moving slope up to a point where you feel the most comfortable.

I just started my third playthrough in BOTW
I already got all the Shrines in my second one and I wish the game had alot more put into it and not just the bare bones minimum.

Getting a license here is a pain in the ASS.
It's expensive as fuck, and you literally have to go away and live at a school for a MONTH to get enough training to take the test.

Plus, if you live in an apartment, expect to pay 2-300 dollars a MONTH for parking.

That being said, the trains here are literally always on time. The cities are set up so that you don't really need one unless you want to go to the mountains or something.

You can take the test if you already have a license. They ask you like 10 questions and it's super easy. If your license is expired, expect to pay a bunch of money and take a 100 question test + written answers.
