Is it possible to emualte PS2 games at 60 fps with a gtx 1050?

Depends on your CPU than GPU last I checkecd
>>
Also, recommend PS2 hidden gems.

i have a GTX 670 2GB (weaker than a 1050ti) with an i5 3570k at stock frequency and I run Gran Turismo 4 at 1080p, 60fps with only random menu slowdowns and some random chugging on only the very resource intensive rally stages.

Extremely playable and very beautiful game. Check online for various config setups that make the game run even better.

Really is a fantastic program when you get all the settings just right for whatever game you're into atm.
>>
>>389821779

It's CPU intensive. GPU has very little to do with it.
>>
>>389822697
GPu has plenty to do with it, unless you're running everything in software mode.
>>
I emulate Okami at 60fps with a GTX750M
>>
I have a gtx 970 and every game runs at 60FPS in 10x the resolution.
But theres some games that wont run at stable FPS anyway cuz the emulator isnt perfect so it depends on what game you play.

Guys any tips for not getting dropped frames on the Visual Boy Advance ?
>>
My laptop has integrated graphics and it can emulate PS2 games at fullspeed.

Just make sure your CPU is at least decent.
>>
>>389822424
I had a GTX 670 and a 3930k a while back, I recently upgraded to a GTX 1070. GPU speed makes zero fucking difference in PCSX2, it's all CPU.
>>
>>389826440
>GPU speed makes zero fucking difference in PCSX2
This isn't true but it's mainly CPU.
>>
>>389821779
I think emulation depends more on your CPU
>>
Yes
Although a lot of PS2 games are capped at 30 FPS
>>
Any GPU will do as the CPU will do everything anyway in most games if you don't want glitches
Hardware acceleration a shit in PCSX2
>>
>>389828939
what?
>>
>>389826094
what cpu does your laptop have? i7 or i5 core
>>
>>389824421
It doesn't though. Even my old GTX 570 ran PCSX2 at 8x native with no issues.
>>
>>389831134
Try it with integrated graphics and see how you do.
>>
Not OP.

I've got a decent PC, my kid used to play on steam with it, but it chokes up with this. I'm guessing it has to do with settings. Does any one know what the optimal settings for a so so PC are?
>>
>>389832384
You'll want to Google settings for your specific game
>>
>>389821779
Nigga, people were doing that in 2008 on dual cores and 320mb VRAM.
>>
>>389831574
I played through p3 pretty well on a 2012 laptop with integrated graphics on 2x resolution.
>>

Fair enough.
Thanks.

Ace Combat 4 is still having problems. I hope it get's fixed
>>
>>389832503
On PPSSPP maybe, not on PCSX2.
>>
Guys I tried playing P4 a goood while ago and it ran at 10-8 fps

Is my pc that shit or do I need manage the settings? , also note I can play Danganronpa 2 pc but with some minors slowdowns

Emulation is first and foremost about the CPU's single core speed

mate i fucking emulate games on an 840m. All You'll need is a good cpu.
>>
I ran FFX and Persona 5 at 60fps 1080p on a 5770 years ago.
As others have said, it's mainly your CPU.
Even so even dual-core laptops should be able to handle most games.

It depends mostly on the games I think. I was fine with Persona 4 on 840m but GTA:SA ran pretty bad and buggy.
>>
>>389821779
Even my 560ti ran shit in 1080p and 50-60 FPS. Stuttering was mostly caused by CPU I guess
>>
>>389821779
GPU largely doesn't matter. What is your CPU?

I play at 60fps(not HD tho) with a 750ti and an amd fx6300

I've completed 64 games on PCSX2 from start to finish with a 1050, If you have a decent cpu you'll be fine and don't fall for the memes that say pcsx2 is shit it works great.
>>
>>389832903
Why is PSP emulation so good?
>>
i get random stutters on every game i play no matter the settings with pcsx2. i have a 4770k so its not my hardware, just a dogshit emulator
>>
>>389837408
more than enough
gtx 1060
4gb ram
g4400

runs perfect
i ran all games at 5x native and could prob went higher
>>
>>389830354
A LOT OF PS2 GAMES ARE CAPPED AT 30 FPS

Some also cap at 50.
>>
>>389821779
Easily, as long as you also have a decent CPU and are willing to fuck with the configs.
>>
>>389822043

I haven't gotten a chance to test it myself, but has anyone here tried emulating one of those GC games that use GBAs for controllers in multiplayer? Want to play 4 player Crystal Chronicles and was wondering if I should just buy all the shit or if it's possible to emulate.
>>
>>389838718
I tried your pic related and it works, as far as singleplayer goes.
>>
i have a
Intel Core i5 4460 @ 3.20GHz
2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GT 730

can i run the emu at good settings?
anyone can share some goot settings for it? at 4x i already get frame drops
i'm using direct3d11
>>
>>389837971

Taken from the official PPSSPP site:

>"PPSSPP is a PSP emulator written in C++. It translates PSP CPU instructions directly into optimized x86, x64, ARM or ARM64 machine code, using JIT recompilers (dynarecs)."
>"PPSSPP is a HLE ("high level emulation") emulator, it simulates the PSP OS as seen by the game rather than the full hardware. A program running on the PSP OS can send raw display lists to the graphics chips, but can't access the flash controller or the Media Engine directly, instead it has to go through libraries and the PSP OS kernel. We simply simulate these."
>>
>>389838964
I know singleplayer is possible, but I'm concerned about whether or not 4 is playable. Thanks though.
>>
>>389838975
>4x
Might be a bit much for a 730GT on some games so you might have to drop it down to 2x or 3x. The CPU should be fine for most shit other than something like Shadow of the Colossus as long as you have the MTVU speedhack enabled.
>>
Help.
>>
>>389821779
Depends on the game and your hardware.

PS2 emulation is still very unrealiable, a lot of games have bugs of some sort and/or struggle to run at 100% speed regardless of setup.

All the really popular games should be fine, though I think Ratchet & Clank 3 has some issues (that was like 4 years ago tho, haven't really checked back so it may be better).
>>
>>389839454
Switch to OpenGL instead of DirectX 11.

Does anyone know how to get this gem working?
I've tried multiple times but for some reason I get this real bad brightness issue and it makes the entire game unplayable.
>>
>>389821779
CPU is much more important than GPU for most emulation. That doesn't mean you don't need a GPU, because you do, higher resolutions are all GPU dependant so you can't just use Intel HD for example.
With that said, you should be able to emulate stuff at 4x Native res fine for the most part IF your CPU is good.
>>
>>389839841
Main problem with PCSX2 is that so much of the emulator is based around ancient code that was wrote 5+ years ago and no one really wants to touch it to improve it. When the base is such a mess there is only so much room left to work with, so making an x64 version is off the cards and adding DirectX12/Vulkan support is also off the cards for now.

Your GPU is basically irrelevant.

I've been emulating PS2 games at 200 FPS for over 9 years, and my PCs have always been average or below average for "gamers". You'll be fine.

From what I have seen it is fine and is far better than Bulldozer ever was. You can find videos of people showing off framerates with various R5/R7 chips on youtube.
>>
>>389821779
Ah back in 2010 i had it run ffx on a laptop dual core with a radeon 200m. By current standards was severly slow. Suprisingly running it at native res. It went up to 80-90% in average framerate.
Today be fair i ocd the cpu, and gpu a little. The cpu was a core 2 duo.

If PS2 emulation is anything like Wii emulation then you should stay away from AMD. A $60 Pentium G4560 is better than any AMD CPU.

>>389821779
The games themselves are locked to specific FPS rates because they were made for limited hardware, and forcing 60 FPS on many games will alter mechanics in ways that screw you over.
>>
>>389845614
I am pretty sure they working on something.
PPSSPP had those 60 fps patches for a while making games run at higher fps without screwing gameplay.
