Those are the only ones I actively dislike.
When you're bogged down with 3 Specters, and about a billion and a half Lost that showed up for some reason, the last thing I want to see is a crate getting tagged for Advent across the map.
But hey, they aren't "Defend the beacon from 2 alien pods that spawned on top of it" missions.

Pray to the heavens that you pick a good time to do your Chosen Stronghold Assault mission, because I went into my first one unaware, and ended up with literally my entire squad utterly exhausted and suffering from PTSD, only to be downed two days later by an UFO and by the end of that have my entire SOLDIER ROSTER either in the infirmary or the madhouse

I actually really like the lost. I don't know how bad they are on higher difficulties but I like how you can just keep shooting at them. Getting headshot after headshot is pretty satisfying

When you get the dark event where swarms show up no matter the mission they can wear out their welcome pretty easily.

Had to learn to tone down my love of explosives after this debacle which ended up with 40 Lost to 15 Advent.

Oh my, never saw that one show up in the rotation.

I do find it entertaining how Chosen dark events still show up after they're all 6 feet under though.

How do you deal with the Assassin?
I'm playing on Normal and it's not that she's hard to deal with, it's just that she's annoying when she spawns in with everything else going on around me, bonks someone and then runs off
It's even worse when she bonks someone, incapacitates them, runs off and then next turn uses that stupid incapacitating wave attack

Dunno, I always spot her before she attacks and goes down in a turn. I think you have to play aggressive instead of waiting for her to attack first.

Going through legend and, honestly, the only problematic one is the stealth one as he can move 40 and still slash someone to death.
Moment you know he's there, you have to get a specialist to high ground and hope you scan him....or someone basically dies.

The other two? are easily preventable and barely do their job in the first place.

Overall the chosen were pretty disappointing, but everything else is great.

I honestly like the Chosen as a concept. Giving the player 3 separate direct enemies that harass and talk back. Helps kinda pace the game out by giving you three major steps along towards the end of the game.

As for them being actual enemies out on the field, they need a major AI overhaul at the least.
Maybe it would have better to have each of them be a parallel of the commander where instead of them taking the field, they send in teams of special Advent that work like Anti-Xcom teams.

I was sick of them by the end of the of the story mission where they're introduced. I had to push through this obnoxious fucking choke that lost packs just kept spawning in. It took fucking forever because between shooting and reloading you don't have a lot of spare actions.

Also all these story missions and the constant chatter are strongly discouraging me from starting a new game.

I like the lost in these scenarios especially. They can't touch me and are an absolute non-threat, make the aliens lose turns and fuck up their tactics though.

Oh I love that dark event. Toss in the Sitrep Location Scout into the mix and while your team is concealed it turns into a massive ass bloodbath that at best kills off most if not all advent or at worse means that virtually none of the advent pods get their pod encountered free cover run and they group up like headless chickens once all Lost die. Even without that sitrep you'll run into missions where explosives by the advent and the lost conveniently killing purifiers(their death boom counts as explosions) calls in enough of a horde to severely cripple advent.
