But on that point, Japanese culture is different to American culture. What constitutes strange behaviour to a western person is not the same as for a Jap, and vice versa. There is a medical syndrome Japs get when they visit places like Paris because it's so different to what they know.

Of course autism is a concept in Japan, you talk like it's the 1800s. Just they place more value on being stoic, reserved and calm than we do in the west, so their exaggerated heroes seem autistic whereas ours just seem stupid and/or insane.

Sooo, I finally got off my ass and finished P5. Real solid game. Story, combat, quality of life things, all great.

...that said, I still feel it falls behind P3 and P4. Even though I know it trumps the other two in some areas. I'm just not feeling it. It's just missing something.

I absolutely fell in love with the game and burned through with very little fatigue and I know how you feel, Anon. I think the problem is that its strong point is style rather than substance. The story isn't as impactful as 3's and the group as a whole feels more "flat" than 4's because of the lackluster events. Plus, they're running out of high school anime tropes to make characters out of and this has gotten more and more noticeable with each installment

I thought it was a lot better than 4, but still worse than 3. 5 suffers heavily in that there are very few interactions between your party members compared to the other games, and they all have pretty shallow relationships with each other. The story has no clear direction for much of the game and several emotional moments fall flat, particularly when fluffy hair's dad dies and she doesn't even consider thinking that the PTs were responsible and just totally believes them and is cool with it, or how they really, really wanted you to feel sorry for Goro and think his final moments were cool even though he was a retarded chump. Gameplay was also a bit of a letdown because while palaces were a step up in design, mementos sucked and its music was atrocious, some of the palaces' gimmicks were annoying as shit (especially Okumura's), and the bosses were easy as shit. Plus that party interaction gimmick in boss fights was barely utilised.
