I will never understand how they became the bastion of difficulty in the games when the game gives you so many advantages like farming, summoning or buffing your weapons with weaknesses. I've played every game through with a melee only build and while they're harder than your average game, I'd never call them difficult like I would Ninja Gaiden Black.

The most appealing aspect to me in these games is level design and lore.
