I'm literally more hyped for this than Mario Odyssey, and I'm fucking hyped for Mario Odyssey. Takahashi just has a way of building a compelling world while keeping things light and fun, despite the inevitable darkness that comes with these types of stories. Even Xenoblade X which was a worst case scenario and had plenty of dark moments still had this underlying sense of hope and energy.

It's the same reason I love the Trails series. Lovable characters, a fascinating world, and a compelling story to drive it all forward.

Why was the XC2 trailer so shit?

The first 1:20 is spot on really, if a bit too slow taking time to fly through the air and show the airship before finally reaching Rex and Pyra. That scene is great, immediately tells you who the protagonists are and what their purpose is.

After that it quickly goes to shit. Some random fight with some chick out of nowhere, that shitty "TAKE THIS", more guys who we have no fucking clue who they are with gunships firing that we have no idea who they belong to. Rex and Pyra fighting some guy who doesn't really look evil at all, and then a bunch of quick cuts. The best part is probably Rex just running through the world because Monolith are masters of scenery porn.

If I were to redo the trailer I'd follow up the Rex/Pyro scene with quick snippets of first meeting Tora/Nia, then show a few quick scenes of them running around that giraffe titan with a few quick cuts of them fighting together.

Then establish the 'bad guys' (they're totally going to not be the end game bad guys, basically this game's Mechon), this military organization who are clearly invasive. NOW you can show Rex and Pyra fighting sword lady. Then show quick cuts of other titans along with quick shots of the locations you can find on/in them.

The last section with "This blade he calls Pyrrha" and "R YEW THA AEGIS OR AHRN'T YEW" is fine really. Just flashes of early mid-game story to get a taste of things to come. End trailer.
