Because the Switch is a home console, first and foremost. I never bring my Switch anywhere.

3DS games are vastly more cost efficient to make games for than any other platform by a wide margin.

Even if a game doesn't sell all that much, it's still 1/1000th the budget of any AAA game.

the games that are being released now are fairly low-investment anyways (shit like atlus' ds ports, another kirby in the triple deluxe engine, samus returns looks pretty cheap) so it doesn't exactly need to sell gangbusters to make a profit and keeps people who haven't yet jumped on the switch bandwagon happy.
