The atmosphere is top notch. How they went from this to DeSu 2, where everything is fucking anime and there's a million characters that are unfaced in the presence of gods while they talk to each other like the universe is not ending is beyond me


DeSu: there's a lockdown and people are struggling with the feeling that they're going to die. Biggest concerns are finding food and a battery to keep things going. Some go insane

DeSu2: shelter and fast travel, no emotions at all in the face of extinction, fan service everywhere and every time

I still like desu 2, but you cannot fucking compare it to the first one

Music is really good. Story is the unparalleled best of any MegaTen game. Gameplay is a fun strategy twist on the normal SMT mechanics. Your choices actually matter more than any other game I've ever played.

Two weeks ago I buy that version (ds) in a flea market for like 6 dlls (100 mxn pesos) brand new at all.
To my surprise the game is really good , the characters , the music and the fucking setting was goat.

I'm going to buy the 3ds version and play that shit too.

When DeSu1 originally came out I thought it was a lame TWEWY knockoff. I hadn't played any SMT games before.

Then SJ got announced and I thought it looked awesome because I loved Etrian Odyssey, so I went back and bought DeSu1 to start understanding the franchise.

No regrets, easy 9/10 game.

Story and atmosphere mostly. Gameplay's fine too but the game really nails the survival in a modern lockdown in a newly dangerous highly populated city. It's a fairly unique concept too. Infamous had the same sort of concept too but Cole wasn't exactly struggling to get the bare necessities.

Doing this route with Keisuke in your team is great. He is easily the best law character in SMT. Naoya is also pretty cool in the final battle of day 8.

The setting was very well done.
