And even the cult is mostly peaceful, meaning you'd have to be threat to the gods for the cult call hell on you. And you only end up in purgatory for being dead/sinner. Harry kind of got sucked into the thing thanks to his adopted daughter not being exactly normal. He was actually pretty innocent and didn't even have any morality flaws one bit. Not much is known about Henry but I doubt he was an asshole. Heather was the reincarnation of Alessa and Cheryl. She was just a somewhat typical teenager. Yet again it is Silent Hill 2 convincing you as well as too many people that the entire series was this way when it was only this one game.
