When you're on the battlefield for who knows how long and the sounds of gunfire and death is all you experience on a day to day basis.
Those comfy planet earth sounds can really fuck up your brain/lower your guard, which is something you dont want in a war setting

It's not just that, gunfire and death is war and it's misery - fair enough.

But imagine not even being able to relax around nature - that the sound of the forest and cicadas and pacifist mammals actually trigger your fight or fight-response. That's just deeply fucked up psychologically, which is why I don't think this tactic would be allowed in the rules of war and engagement.
