I used to do some pretty mean (but deserved) things in Killing Floor.

Whenever a low level player (think 0, 1 or 2) would join a match that I was on (I was a level 6 and always played on minimum hard, usually suicidal), I would do whatever I could to ruin their lives. The usual stuff being weld doors to trap them, rage fleshpounds at them, try to vote kick them, all that stuff, but there was one thing in particular that stood out above the rest.

When these people joined, they would often ask for dosh. Money to buy weapons to not be so shit. They were often far away from the trader as well. I often went zerker or support specialist, so I had excess cash (and inventory space) to spare. What I liked to do was ask them specially what gun they wanted, and then I would buy it for them, but not give it to them. I would equip it, make sure they could see that I DID in fact buy the gun. They would ask for it, and I would say "not here, follow me", which they then did.

I would then proceed to go to a spot with invisible walls that players couldn't pass through, or to a cliff, or to a high box, and I would throw the weapon there so that they couldn't get it, while they watched me.

The invisible walls were the best, since the weapon was so close, but impossible to get. I had several people disconnect from the game after I pulled this shit.

It was the best.

Usually I'm not. Sometimes I am. Depends on how crappy my day was.

I miss the days when the majority of insults towards one another were "noob". It's such a ridiculous word that sounds so goddamn childish it's impossible to take seriously. That's what made it great. That's why it was FANTASTIC.

Now, literally every other insult is a variation of "kill yourself". It's just words, and people can say whatever they want, but for me, it just doesn't fit the atmosphere of a videogame. It sounds like genuine hatred and anger, and I don't like that. "noob" made everything seem like it was a lighthearted game, but then shit went from 10 to 100 and people use the some of the worst shit you can say to a person over the smallest things. It just doesn't fit.

I think the situation could be resolved if multiplayer game had a sort of planetside 2 team system, this way you could only end up on the same team as people who are in your clan/corp, this way you could give advice to bad people without fearing that they might end up on the enemy team next game.
