Should I get rid of my PS3? iv'e been slowly getting rid of my library every time a console exclusive is released on PC. I have a decent gaming rig right now and the only reason why I still keep my PS3 is for MGS4 and Red Dead Redemption(which honestly I haven't played in years but ever since I went to PC I can't stand it's shitty framerate and muddy graphics.)

Not to mention i'm a bit strapped for cash right now and if MGS4 and RDR get released on PS4 i'd probably just end up buying a PS4 at some other time down the road.

What do you think?
>>
If it's not CFWd, it's worthless.

MGS4 is never getting ported, by the way.
>>
>>389721492
I thought I heard somewhere it was getting an HD re-release?
>>
>>389721573
Rumors. Porting 4 is too much work and Konami has no interest in keeping MGS going.
>>
If you're so strapped for cash, selling your PS3 will be a temporary problem to an otherwise continued issue. It's a DVD player for all intents and purposes.

Just keep it. If you really need money, donate plasma or sign up for a temp agency, Anon.

For all you know, you might just use it again. Doesn't hurt to keep it around.
>>
Is RDR at least on the digital store for PS4 right now?
>>
>>389721031
>v'e been slowly getting rid of my library every time a console exclusive is released on PC

for $3-5 per game ? that's beyond retarded.

>>389721031
>Not to mention i'm a bit strapped for cash right now

Be honest what socialist paradise are you from ?
>>
Once Demon's Souls emulation is stable I'll finally pitch my PS3. Shame there's no multiplayer but it's mostly dead on PS3 anyway.

The fact that Sony basically abandoned backwards compatibility and went for a shitty streaming service, I'd say keep it. Your old PS3 games are now a treasure because if it's not available for streaming or hasn't been ported to the current generation you're not gonna find a way to play it
>>
>>389721827
This guy makes a good point. I know a lot of drug heads (not sayin you are) that sell fucking everything for just a bit of what they need and always regret it.

Don't sell something valuable to you that you know you're going to get shit all for. You may use the PS3 again in the future and kick yourself for selling it.
>>
>>389724939
Blood restores itself with some time. New PS3s don't spawn in the bathroom though, even if they should.
New Nintendo systems and owners have been spawning spontaneously in filthy fucking bathrooms since the gamecube. Why is Sony so fucking far behind?
>>
>>389721031
RDR is on Xbox, get the Xbone, enjoy back compatible games and some new ones that aren't on PC because you and I both know mainline Halo games aren't coming to PC and have fun.
>>
>>389725119
Because Sony Consoles, unlike Nintendo and even Xbox are garbage. Outside of inFamous 2 and Resistance 3, what did Sony make on the PS3 that meant anything to anyone.
>>
>>389725227
It's okay dude I know you're trying to cope with the fact the PS3 is dead but just remember the fond memories instead of trying to drown them out with hate

I was on the flipside with a gamecube funny enough, sold it for well over the asking price, didn't even include games/controllers. Guy was a cunt though.

And I mean, his fault for getting into that shit, you're morally in the wrong for pulling that shit over someone who was in an awful place in their lives. At least my victim was mentally competent, but if you can sleep at night fuck it.

Most of the worthwhile PS3 exclusives have been ported to the PC by now (even JRPGs like The Last Order and Valkyria Chronicles are on Steam). MGS4 still isn't on the PC for some weird reason, but Rising and 5 are, so it doesn't really matter.

Typically I'm all for keeping a console and your library, but the PS3/360 generation is an exception since almost all of the good games have been ported to the PC or the new generation of consoles. To be honest though, even though I have a PS4 and enjoy it quite a bit, there's not much reason to buy one. Literally the only two exclusives on it worth a damn are Infamous Second Son (which is leaps and bounds better than the first two) and Persona 5. If you really want something with a unique library worth a damn, I'd invest in a 3DS or Vita.

>>389726149
one time he passed out in his car after eating wendy's on his way to selling me some weed, ketchup all over his face when i found him parked outside i drug him into my house and wiped his face and tucked him in on the couch. i didn't steal anything from him

when he woke up we had a good laugh and he sold me the weed and went home

i was his friend. drug addicts are just on their own path, if anything i wasn't his friend, just another "lick"
>>
>>389726382
I really don't recommend investing in a Vita unless you buy it used with cheap games because it's barely better off than the Wii U
>>
>>389726550
I love my Vita. I actually had a 3DS and sold it over a year ago too. But the Vita is substantially more weebshit than the 3DS, so it all depends on your taste.

Either way, portables are comfy as fuck, and a better investment than a PS4. The only reason I don't regret getting a PS4 is because I traded in my Wii-U and 3DS for it and ended up with so much in-store credit that I had $30 to spare. My Wii-U collected dust and while I did enjoy the 3DS, it fucking hurt my hands to use the damn thing. As far as physical design goes, the Vita is much better.
>>
>>389726716
I don't think it's a bad console but there's so little support for it, it feels like such a struggle to enjoy it unless you're reeaally into weebshit since Sony's North American branch has completely given up on it. That's why I recommend having a bunch of titles on it you know you want and getting a used one.

I have all the VanillaWare and Disgaea 1-4 on it.

>>389725227
Demon's was cool, I guess. Puppeteer too.

Literally the only reason I even bought my Vita was for Persona 4 Golden. Worth every goddamn penny, at least in my opinion. The only other exclusives that are worth a damn are Muramasa Rebirth (why this never got an HD port to the PS4 I don't know) and Tales of Hearts R. Freedom Wars is alright. Persona 4 Dancing All Night is okay if you're into rhythm games and fanservice. Really the only other thing the Vita has going for it is the massive library of PSone games (most of which aren't on the PS4). It's a fantastic system but the lack of support hurts my soul, especially since the only reason it failed was because Sony didn't know how to market it properly. There are some multiplat games I own on my Vita simply because I feel like they're more suited (or more comfortable) in handheld form.

I'm not explicitly telling OP that he should go out and buy one (thus why I said a Vita OR a 3DS), I'm just saying that if he wants to drop a few hundred bucks he's better off getting a portable system that at least has some games he can't get on PC. Consoles are pointless these days, unless you're into online games and most of your friends play on a certain console.
>>
>>389726716
>it fucking hurt my hands to use the damn thing
The same happens to me. It's awful because it has games I want to play, but it's just so uncomfortable to use.
>>
>>389727641
Thank god, I thought I was the only one. I'm not even a fatass, I'm skinny and I have tiny girl hands, but the system just hurts to use for more than a half hour. Kid Icarus Uprising was suffering, and even games with normal control schemes like A Link Between Worlds (first Zelda game I actually enjoyed since Oracle of Ages/Seasons) just hurt after a while. I'm guessing it's probably because the damn thing is shaped like a fucking brick.

It still has a better library than the PS4, Xbone and Switch combined. Too bad it feels like shit and nobody has made an emulator worth a damn.

Red Dead is shit anyway, the only good game Rockstar ever made was Bully, too bad the PC port sucks ass

>some form of decay
I wouldn't call it that, but it's not nearly as well-built as the PS2. Shit, the slim model of the PS2 is supposed to last forever, but even my fatty I bought when Jak and Daxter came out still works. Then there's the whole online thing, eventually that shit is going to go away and that could fuck things up.
>>
>>389730085
Not that guy, but what form of maintenance would you recommend so that PS3 lasts a long time?
>>
>>389730085
It's only about 10 years old though, who's to say in 20 more years the hard drive just utterly fails

And most good games aren't reliant on the online anyway. However if you buy a used copy of an old game that requires a content patch that might be a problem.

Take a can of air duster to that bitch, open it up periodically just to make sure it's really clean.

>>389730278
>However if you buy a used copy of an old game that requires a content patch that might be a problem.
That's the thing that gets me. So many games these days come out broken and require day-one patches and there are a lot of ways that could screw people. Publishers drop support of games all the time. Or say your hard drive gets fucked, and you happen to live in an area with shit internet or you just can't afford it at the time. Well tough shit then, your game is broken.

I mean for fucks sake, I have Comcast internet and it loves to shit out on me randomly during the night. Usually it's not for more than a few minutes, but there have been nights where the internet is down for hours for literally no reason (no storms or power outages or anything). That's what really pisses me off, publishers and devs always assume that everyone has super fast internet 24/7 and that it never shuts down.

I'm glad I'n not alone. I had to buy a fucking grip for my XL because it'd make my fingers cramp after a while. Thinking of getting a small NEW model but I'd like to know if it still has hand pain properties.
>>
>>389730923
The worst is games that are single player, yet still require you to be online while playing like doing solo runs in Diablo 3.

Hopefully a stable PS3 emulator will come out within 10 years to preserve the library since Sony doesn't really care.

>Thinking of getting a small NEW model but I'd like to know if it still has hand pain properties.
It does. I don't own one but I've played my friend's and it still hurts after a while. The problem isn't the size of the thing, it's the actual shape. Holding what is essentially a giant rectangle is not comfortable. Why do you think steering wheels are round? Angular shit does not conform to our hands and it's uncomfortable to hold for extended periods of time. That's why the only comfy handheld Nintendo has ever made was the original Gameboy Advance, because it was more rounded.

>>389731441
I just want a fucking 3DS emulator. I know Citra exists, but it's a joke, and I don't understand why they can't fucking emulate 3DS games. Aside from A Link Between Worlds and Monster Hunter, I can't think of any decent 3DS games that even utilize the 3D shit. There's a fucking slider on the damn system ffs, so it's not like you have to emulate that part.
>>
>>389732071
Aw. I'll have to pass on it then but I'll keep a N3DS in mind in case my XL ever breaks. Didn't really want to play any of the NEW exclusives but I wanted the better snes emulation. I do hope that ninty's next handheld isn't a hand ruiner. Assuming the switch doesn't succeed the 3DS line anyway.

You can get that on a PC. Hell, you can get that on a damn phone now.

It will. They're already discontinuing certain models of the "New" 3DS:

>>
>>389721031
I kept mine because

>I use it as a bluray player/stream machine in my room and the ps4 in the living room
>>
>>389733651
If you want a portable emulator, then honestly the PSP is actually the best option.
